The Journey - From Hoffenheim to Atletico Madrid

@DanYeah mate,since the moment i got the job as a manager of Hoffenheim i wasn't sure that this was the right decision so i got sacked for the first time in my career but i can say that i tried





Jose Alvaro was sacked from Hoffenheim after the bad results of the team.The final point was when Hoffenheim got 0:0 draw against Augsburg at home.The board decided to fire Jose Alvaro and to start the search for the new manager.Jose Alvaro apologized to the fans and said that he is can be only happy for that opportunity for the monts that he was the manager of Hoffenheim and that he tried everything.Jose Alvaro won't stay long without a team that's for sure.The manager is known very well for his successes at Ludogorets Razgrad and the average european teams will try to get him.






Jose Alvaro just declined the offer from his previous(favourite) club Ludogorets Razgrad .

The newspapers in Madrid announced that Atletico Madrid have a new manager and that was the manager who was sacked from his last job ( at Hoffenheim ).The board of Atletico decided to give a chance to Jose Alvaro after the bad result of the club with the previous manager.At the press-conference Jose Alvaro was happy that he will be a part of Atletico Madrid and he promised that the team will win the LigaBBVA next season.Right now Atletico is at the 8th position and currently playing in the Europa League.The team have goals to reach Second Qualifying Round of the Europa League and to finish in UEFA tournaments spot. 4th-5th place for this season.



The club



Atleti have 10 league titles,1 UEFA Champions League trophy(2016) and 2 Europa League trophies.Jose Alvaro will try to make the league titles more and to achieve something in the UEFA tournaments if not this season atleast the next !

The first game for Jose Alvaro as the manager of Atleti will be against Litex Lovech ( Bulgaria ) in the First Knockout Round of Europa League.

Yeah.I've won everything at Bulgaria with Ludogoerets.It was pointless to go back.It's time to win some trophies in Spain !

La Liga



Atletico won 7 from 10 games in La Liga.The team played like a champion in every game and when everyone said that Jose Alvaro will be sacked again he proved that he is the right man for the job at Atletico Madrid.The team got only 3 draws against Espanyol against Rayo which was really surprising result and against Real Sociedad.Atleti also showed that they are ready for the big games with victories against Valencia,Villareal and Athletic Bilbao.The next game for Atleti is against Cordoba.



The team is at 5th place 5 games before the end of the season.The main goal is to qualify for the UEFA Champions League but it won't be easy.We will start those 5 games with away game against Cordoba and the last game for the season is against FC Barcelona.

UEFA Europa League



Atleti is out from UEL after reaching the Second Qualifying Round.The team finished in the 3rd position in the UCL group stage and continued his euro campaign in UEL.The team eliminated Litex Lovech ( Bulgaria ) after 2 victories with ( 3:4 away) and (2:0 home).In the second round the team got Leverkusen and lost the away game with 2:0 but won the at home with the same result.In the extra time the game was slow and boring so the two teams decided the game on penalties where Leverkusen won.Sad ending to our campaign in our euro tournaments but the goal of Atleti is always to win trophies so we will be back stronger next year.

thats a tough job competing against the big two in spain, hopefully you can upset the odds...

Good read. You did pretty well with Ludogorets, albeit the side struggled in the European competitions - but you you went up against some very tough sides and that would be hard for most sides to get past. Despite having a final bad run, surprised you resigned but I guess you saw the writing on the wall with the Chairman not being happy about the latest run of results.

Hoffenheim was a short-term run, and very tough despite going on a bad run there I think they should have give you more time to turn things around, especially with the impressive record you had at Ludogorets. I can see you doing well with Atletico - although getting above Barcelona and Real Madrid will be one huge challenge, but I could see you doing well against most of the other teams in the league and if you can put a good run together you could clinch 3rd place most seasons, maybe higher if you're lucky. @guk99 Thanks mate.That is one good comment from you which is really nice and will motivate me to continue.Yeah i've won everything i can with Ludogorets,Hoffenheim was fail i think the fault is mine ( i've tried to play my old players from Ludogorets there ) but now in Atleti the goal is big to win the league and the CL.





La Liga



The league finished with a defeat against Barcelona but i was happy with the way we played in that game.The team tried everything and only the luck saved Barca in that game as their goal ( pure luck Oblak saved the shot from Messi and Neymar was in the right place in the right time to score ) We finished in the 4th place ( Valencia 3rd ) and will start the UCL from the play-off's and i think that we will qualify without problems for the groups if we play like we played in the last months.The goal for the next season is only one to win the league.TO BE THE BETTER TEAM IN MADRID.

Season 2021-2022

Pre-Season



We got 2 draws and 2 defetas from 4 games in our pre-season.The draws came against AC Milan and Brugge.We lost against Boca and Sparta Prague,but even that we didn't managed to get a win i was sure that this season we will win trophy.

Summer Transfer Window



Let's first talk a little about the important players that left Atleti in the transfer window.

Hugo Basto The central defender left the club because he wanted to play in a bigger club from Atleti and to win trophies.The club tried everything to keep him but the offer was too good from PSG to be turned down.So Hugo left the club and signed with PSG.That opened a hole in the defense of the team.

Zeljko Kravarusic The young central midfielder left the club to sign with Inter Milano.The transfer was good because Kravarusic wasn't playing often in the games and the team was looking for a good central defender.The offer of Inter Milano was really good and Kravarusic left Atleti to sign with Inter.

So with the money from the transfers of Basto and Kravarusic it was time for the new players.The main target was a central defender for the right price and a young central midfielder that can be a key player in the future.

Quique Fornos We found a good central defender from Malaga and i was sure that Fornos can replace Basto without problems.Everything was ready and Fornos was happy to sign for Atletico.



Manuel LocatelliTo be honest searching for young midfielder was harder than looking for a good central defender.In the end we found Manuel Locatelli from AC Milan.The offer was accepted from AC Milan and the players was happy to play for Atleti.



Players- 2021-2022



First 11



Atleti was ready for the start of the season,for the start of the UEFA Champions League where they will face CSKA Moscow in the play-off round ( because we finished 4th last season ) but Jose Alvaro was sure that the team will play in the group stage and the goal was only one Atleti to win trophies.#VamosAtleti

La Liga



Atleti started the season in a really good way,7 victories from 10 games was a good start for the players of Jose Alvaro.Atleti lost only 1 game ( against Real Madrid ) but it's sure that Atleti won't give up and will try to win at home against Real ( Madrid ).Atleti also got 2 draws against Almeria ( unexpected draw ) and against Atheltic Bilbao away from home.The team will try to win their next 10 games and to fight for the title till the end of the season.



UEFA Champions League



Atleti won the play-off's against CSKA Moscow after 2:1 defeat away and 1:0 victory at home.Atleti will continue his journey in the Champions League after winning on away goals.In the first game Atletico managed to score a goal ( the first goal in the game ) but CSKA got the victory at the end of the game.The second leg was more like a battle than a football game but Atletico managed to score again and won with 1:0 which was enough for them to qualify for the group stages.



Atletico Madrid will play with Tottenham Hotspur (England) ,Borussia Dortmund (Germany) and Celtic(Scotland) in the group stage of the Champions League.Jose Alvaro commented the draw and said that Atletico will fight for the 1st place in the group and that the main opponent in the group will be Dortmund.He also said that they will prepare for every game in the same way and that Celtic can be the surprise of the group

Very Bad Pre Season but now everything is back to normal, so far :p

@Sr Wer Thanks mate.Yeah right now everything is good we are still in the fight for the league title,for the domestic cup and we are chasing the UCL trophy.


La Liga


Nothing changed in those 10 games.The team lost the big derby against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou but Jose Alvaro promised that this won't happen again and that Atleti will get the victory at home in the next game against Barca.The team got 7 victories and did 0:0 with Sevilla in the last game.As you know Atletico Madrid is trying to win everything possible this season and right now they are doing really fine in the league.



Real Madrid is at the top of the table with 50 points,it will be interesting to see what will happen in the next 10 games because Atletico is with 46 points at the 2nd place and the difference is only 4 points which is not that much in La Liga.At the bottom newly promoted Sabadell is fighting with Tenerife to avoid the relegation in the fight are also Espanyol and Osassuna.Sporting are not doing well and i can't see them avoiding the relegation this season.

Copa Del Rey




Atleti will play in the Quarter-Finals after eliminating Albacete and Athletic Bilbao on the road.Jose Alvaro said that Atleti can win the domestic cup and the luck is on their side after the draw where Atleti can face Barca or Real only in the final ( if they reach it ).Atletico also got Granada for the Quarter-Final and if they manage to eliminate them the team will be one step close to the trophy.

UFEA Champions League



Atletico Madrid managed to win 3 times in the group stage against Celtic ( 2 times ) and once again Tottenham ( the important one ) which qualifed them for the First Knockout Round of the tournament.The team started pretty bad after the defeat against BVB at Signal Iduna Park but managed to beat Celtic in the next game.



With 11 points Atleti finished 2nd in the group ( BVB also have 11 but better goal difference) and will play in the next round.That is a huge success for the team because as you know in the last season Atleti was out from the group stages after finishing 3rd ( and when their previus manager was sacked ) Jose Alvaro was really happy and promised that the team won't stop here and will fight till the end !



Atleti will fight with Manchester City for a place in the Quarter-Finals.The chairman of the club said that they can beat Manchester City and that he believes in Jose Alvaro and the players.The first game will be in Spain and after that Atleti will fly to Manchester for the second leg.

La Liga



Atletico Madrid is doing much better this season with Jose Alvaro but still the manager said that he is disappointed with the players,and that the team must win the games against Almeria,Granada etc...Atleti also lost against Real Madrid at home against Celta and against Valencia,but still the team is 2nd in La Liga and for now they are in the UCL spot.



Copa Del Rey



Atletico Madrid will play on the final for the Copa Del Rey after eliminating Granada and Valencia ( quarter-finals,semi-final) The team won the semi-final on penalties after losing the first leg with 2:0 but then won the 2nd with the same result.On the penalties Atleti managed to secure the victory and will play on the final for the Copa Del Rey.



Atleti will face Real Madrid on the final.Jose Alvaro was actually happy and said that Atleti WILL WIN the cup and will get their revenge against Real Madrid.

UEFA Champions League



Atletico is out from the UCL after losing against Manchester City.In the first leg at home Atleti managed to get only 2:2 against City but in the away game Atleti lost with 1:0 and said goodbye to the UCL for this season.The former manager of Atletico ( Diego Simeone right now manager of Manchester City ) commented the victory and said that Jose Alvaro can win everything with Atleti and that he is happy with the way that Atletico is playing under Jose Alvaro.

La Liga Santander



Atletico finished the season with a draw against Sporting at home.The game started really well for Atletico but before the end of the first half Sporting managed to score for 1:1.The second half was boring and there was more fight than football.Jose Alvaro said that the team actually played well but there was no point in fighting for the 3 points as Real Madrid is already champion for the 2nd time in a row.Atletico finished in the 2nd place with 79.Real Madrid won the league with 94 points.Valencia finished 3rd and Barcelona was the surprise of the season as they finished in the 4th place with 71.The manager of Atletico also commented the situation in Barcelona and he said that Barcelona will be back in the next season and that they are a team that can win everything.



Interesting is also that Malaga is out from La Liga and will play in the Liga Adelante in the next season along with Tenerife and Sabadell.

Copa Del Rey



"After reaching the final the expectations were high but we lost the final" this was the comment of Jose Alvaro for the final game where Atletico lost to Real Madrid with 2:1.The team of Jose Alvaro was losing after 10 minutes but managed to score a goal.In the second half Real Madrid dominated the game and deserved the second goal and with that the cup.Atletico can be proud with reaching the final and for sure the team can win it next season.

UEFA Champions League



Valencia won the Champions League after beating Bayern Munich on the final with 2:1.

Season 2022-2023.Atletico Madrid ! The Last Season in Spain ?

The Pre-Season !



Atletico Madrid finished the pre-season games with only 1 victory 2 draws and 1 defeat against Inter.Jose Alvaro was actually pleased with the team and he said that this is a normal performance from the team because it's early in the season.Atletico will play with Real Madrid before the start of the league for the Super Cup of Spain. Can Atletico win first trophy with Jose Alvaro ?

Super Cup



After 2 legs Real Madrid won the Super Cup against Atletico Madrid with 2:1 on aggregate.The team of Jose Alvaro was really close to do the comeback but Real managed to score the one goal which was enough.Jose Alvaro still can't get a victory against Real Madrid and that is really disappointing for the red part of Madrid.The manager of Atleti apologized again for the defeat and for losing the trophy.

La Liga Santander



Atletico is doing really well in the league after the defeat in the SuperCup.The team started with 2 draws but after that they won 3 in a row before losing against Espanyol.That wasn't a problem for them because the team finally got a victory against Real Madrid and that means that this season will be really interesting and that the league title can be in the red part of Madrid in the end of the season ! Atletico Madrid is playing better and better in every game.

La Liga Santander




The team is playing really well and after that victory against Barcelona it's sure that Atletico is better than the last season.Jose Alvaro is looking really happy with the way the team is playing and the results are deserved.In the other hand Real Madrid is still number 1 in Spain and it will be really hard for Atletico ( the other Madrid team ) to fight with RM for the title till the end.The team will play against Getafe and will hope for a good result so they can chase the title.



As you can see the league table Villareal are not doing well and they are in the relegation zone.( La Liga will lose so much if they get relegated in my opinion ) Atletico and Barcelona are chasing Real Madrid ( the team that can't do a mistake ) and they are with 4 points ahead.

UEFA Champions League



Atletico qualified for the next round of the UCL after finishing in the 2nd place in a group with PSG ,Fenerbahce and Steaua.The team started with a defeat but after that they managed to get first 3 points against Steaua before losing again against Fenerbahce away from home with 3:0.After that Jose Alvaro made some changes and the team managed to win 2 games in a row and qualified for the next round.There they will face Ajax in 2 legs and for sure it will be interesting to see what will happen.
