Speaking of early, already half time in the second leg of the Aberdeen game away at Ventspils. Always had a soft spot for Latvian teams for no real reason other than from when we used to go to pre-season there in the early days of Valerie's interest in the club, along with an admiration of Kaspars Gorkss. Either way, a saved penalty by the Dons and an offside goal for Rooney seem to be by-the-by as the Dons still hold a 3-0 lead from the first leg.
I hope Hibs manage to turn it around later and Hearts manage to progress too. Always like British teams to make it as far as they can!

Of all the British teams, only the Dons managed to progress. Cliftonville and Gap Connah's Quay both went out too. West Ham appear in the next qualifying round now though to boost British team numbers. Both face Slovenian teams in the 3rd Qualifying round, Aberdeen have NK Maribor and West Ham have NK Domzale.
As you say, Cork City progressed past Swedish club BK Hacken and their reward is a trip to the mighty Genk!
I hope all three progress, but I wouldn't be surprised if none of them did!

Finished that way as well, not too bad! Shame no away goal. At least West Ham managed that in their 2-1 defeat. Surely they will overcome them in the second leg at home? They may be the only British team to progress from this round, Aberdeen only managed to snatch an 88th minute equaliser at home against Maribor.

Still a good result for City though and if they can produce the same performance at Turner's Cross then they must be confident in progressing to the next round - it could go the other way and they could easily get hammered at home, which I'm sure no one wants to see after they done the hard work remaining in the contest.
West Ham should progress, it'll be the first competitive West Ham match at the Olympic Stadium I'm almost sure so I'd suspect the pressure will be on them to perform, I do recall West Ham struggling to beat Birkirkara in the second qualifying round last season though.
Aberdeen though, I expect them to be eliminated, they really needed to win the home leg vs. Maribor to have any chance.

Cork/Genk is live on Eir Sports (formerly Setanta Ireland) while the Maribor/Aberdeen game is on Premier Sports.

So, Cork are in trouble as they're currently a goal down at home to Genk on the night (2-0 on aggregate now) and Aberdeen missed a penalty away to Maribor in which they're 'keeper was somehow not sent off despite a) hacking down the Aberdeen chap and b) being the last man.

Aberdeen also down to 10 men now meaning they could have sealed their own fate here

The Hammers were knocked out of the competition by the same team in the third qualifying round last season.

Well... least they got one round further this time and found a novel way to christen their taxpayer-funded new home.

Tough one for Dundalk. Southampton should qualify.

Some good games potentially in Man United's group, though I have never heard of Zorya.

Hopefully going to the Fenerbache game also. Just need to see if I can get the time off work!
