Anyone else finding it really hard this year?

I've started about 10 saves, with different teams and divisions, but I have yet to make it to the end of the first season without being sacked, most of the time I have barely made it to Christmas

I find it extremely difficult. Doesn't matter if i go a small club or a huge one, the mistakes a constant. Maybe a bug?

Can't say the same here so far. Found it very enjoyable. Only had a quick play as Blackpool, mind.

What in particular seems to be the issue?

Eventually that will change though and it will be made a lot sweeter by the previous failure.

Playing as Arsenal and struggled in the league first season finishing 6th! Considering the board expect you to win the league I'm amazed I never got the sack and despite hating me they did still offer me a new contract... Though did make the champions league semis losing to Barcelona and did win both the FA and EFL cups, but got lucky in the finals playing against Fulham and Bournemouth.

I am still using my Man Utd save from the BETA. I have noticed it's more difficult for me and my system to be consistent in the PL but I have finished 3rd, 1st, 4th and currently 2nd.

It is much harder to sign big name players though.

I think it's a tactic thing...my tactics from last year didn't work at all. I found out that if you use certain aspects in your tactic including being more disciplined your play (particularly at the back) was much better. Like VP I did an Arsenal save and got the following results:

Biggest signing was Icardi who had a nice season (34 goals in all comps). Rest of the team was mostly the same.

I find I have to keep changing tactics every match, if I attempt to play without changing tactics I always lose, I have always been a defensive/counter attacking manager and yet my teams never seem to keep clean sheets. If we go 1 down in the first 10 minutes that is a game we've already lost. Bit tricky, still thats kinda the point I guess, keep trying and tweaking your system until you find something that works.

I think when it comes to tactics you can't be chopping and changing all the time, then the team has no rhythm. Playing a lot of friendlies is a good way to start, as the players will be getting match fit plus getting used to your tactic. Also when it comes to training personally I set my training to tactical very high for pre season only, and then obviously look to reduce that at the beginning of the season

Also I think having too many team instructions can also be a hindrance.

I am still a fan of the 4-4-2, provided that you have very good wide players with good crossing.

I'll look to get some screen shots up soon on here.

That's the beauty of FM, everyone has their own style and what works for me might not work for someone else and vice versa

Bought the game yesterday, my first save is always a little tester with Man Utd. Been incredibly inconsistent, but then again so have real life Utd so it seems plenty accurate to me I probably won't last the season but it's still been really enjoyable.
