Downloaded but haven't had the chance to get stuck in yet, how long does the beta last; till january? And also, is this pretty much the full game version or shall i wait till the 4th as opposed to starting up a decent save only for it to be a poor mans version of the original?

the beta lasts as many seasons as you can play during it, it's basically the full game just with a few bugs that still aren't worked out and without features like DLC or the pre game editor available in it.

In the Beta version of FM 2017 u can create your own manager and customize his face.
But in the previous versions of Football Manager I normally played as for example Maldini, or Scholes or Giggs.
I would use their cutout to play with. Isn't this possible with FM 2017?
Please help me;-)

This is a known issue that SI are sorting, hopefully will be fixed by official release!

How do you mean? If you have the BETA you can play it up until release when they'll just update it to the release version.
