SS' Kits
NEW Submission System

A new submission system for the SS Kits has been released. Please see this forum topic.

A full set of default kits - front, back and goalkeeper, plus a set of narrower shirt numbers to fit the narrower SS kits and re-positioned shirt club badges to fit this style, along with shirt manufacturers and sponsors.

This pack only works in FM17 - it does not work in Football Manager 2018.
If you are looking for default kits for FM18 then please see this thread:
https://sortitoutsi.net/downloads/view/37502/fidneys-ss18-default-kits

NOTE - The club badges for the shirt front have NOT been made by me - these are the default badges from the game and I have just re-positioned them to sit in the right place on SS kits, and then added shirt manufacturers logo and sponsor. (There is an alternate set of just the re-positioned badges if you do not want to see the kit manufacturers or sponsors - simply swap them over).

Installation instructions for Windows PC's ONLY

***CARE - the file paths for the installed kits must be exactly as specified to avoid the SI "effect" appearing over the kits.
***CARE - the paths must be in lower case. If there are any capital letters the SI "effect/texture" will be superimposed over the kit.

1. Place the "FM17 SS Default Kits v1.7z" file into the following directory:-
C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017

2. Right click and select "Extract Here"
If/when you see the message saying would you like to replace an existing file select "Yes to All" - this will ONLY over-write files with the same name in the destination. All other files will remain untouched.

If you are happy with the kits as shown in my screenshots then skip instruction 3, and go straight to no. 4.

3. If you prefer to have just the club crests showing on the shirts (without manufacturers logo and sponsor) then do the following:
a. Navigate to the folder "Crest Only - by SI"
b. COPY the files named 0 - 13.
c. Navigate back a step to the "logos" folder.
d. PASTE the files there, replacing files 0 - 13 that are in that folder.

4. In your game make sure that you do the following:-
Go into Preferences
Click on "More Interface Settings"
Remove the tick from "Use caching to decrease page loading times"
Click on "Reload Skin"

Once installed, the full file path to the default kits (fronts) should be EXACTLY as follows, or the "effect" layer will not work and you will still see SI's "effect" layer over the SS default kits:
C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017\graphics\pictures\kits\2d\outfield\front\default

When I say exactly, I mean it. If you add another layer, name any of the folders differently (including spaces, punctuation or even capitalisation) then the "effect" layer will not work on the default kits and you will still see the SI "effect" layer instead.

The final screenshot shows the directory structure the pack extracts to. If this structure is not in place exactly as shown then the pack will not work properly.

NOTE: Your structure can contain ADDITIONAL folders within any of the folders I show, but the path from beginning to end for EACH of "my" folders must be as shown in the screenshot.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

CARE - I believe that unzipping files does not work the same way on a Mac.
For Linux and Mac operating systems please ensure that you place the extracted files in the exact same locations as the file path in the archive, but please ensure that you do not delete any other files when doing so.

Something is not right - your third kit seems to have the the "effect" layer duplicated as the Puma "kit" with the Cisco sponsor and the Nike "kit" with the PayPal sponsor are both the badges overlay from my "effect" layer!

Have you installed the game in the default location and is the full file path to the default kits as follows:
C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017\graphics\pictures\kits\2d\outfield\front\default

And within that folder is there a "logos" folder (which contains the badge & sponsor overlay)?

Also, did have you turned off the skin cache and reloaded your skin?

OK, I see what you have done.

The files 0 - 13 should be inside the "logos" folder in your screenshot, and as you are seeing a double effect I am guessing you have another copy of them already in there.

So, to fix things:
1. Delete the file called 0 from the folder "default" (the one in your screenshot)
2. Go into the folder "Plain with Neck" and COPY the files named 1 - 13 from there into the "default" folder, replacing the files in there with the same names.

When you have finished your "default" and "logos" folders should look like the attached screenshots (the "logos" folder is inside the "default" folder):

Sorry, this is not something that can be corrected - it's actually a bug in the game and nothing to do with the default kit pack.

You see exactly the same issue using the standard kits from SI - the game shows the outfield kit for the goalkeeper in these screens, but then applies the "effect" layer for the goalkeeper shirts.

Hi Mate,

This changes the default kits (ie those used when there is not a kit pack) into SS style kits. Also changes them on the tactics screen, team of the week screens etc.

That normally happens if you install them in the wrong place. They need to be installed EXACTLY as per my last screenshot.

If they are not in this location:
C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017\graphics\pictures\kits\2d\outfield\front\default
Then they will not work.

Even a simple change - for example calling a folder Kits instead of kits will stop them working

for me is not working at all, path is correct but I'm not using default path.
Fm17 is using drive C but I don't have a space there, so I created my own folder on another drive and I changed it through the Steam, after that all graphic content is working perfectly in game except your default kits.
Since Fm17 folder, I have exactly the same path.
My path looks E/sports interactive/football manager 2017 and later accordingly your path.

Sorry mate, this will only work installed on the C drive - I have never been able to make it work if I put it anywhere else. The game seems to have the file path hard coded.

Ok, I found where is a problem.

First thing what I did, was copied all content of graphic to default directory on C hard drive, but still default kits did not work.
Second thing, was changed my customized skin CFM 0.7 on default one in FM17 and default kits started working. Question is how can I use default kits in customized skin?

I will try copy your default kits to skin folder with graphic. Turned out in skin folder was folder with default kits as well that why I couldn't use yours one. Now everything is fine.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on these boards for a while.

The sponsor logos are simply a layer that is placed on top of the kit. The game by default does this for the club badges, and I've simply enhanced that layer with a shirt manufacturers logo and a sponsor.

If you prefer to have just the club crests showing on the shirts (without manufacturers logo and sponsor) then do the following:
a. After installation, navigate to the folder "Crest Only - by SI" (C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017\graphics\pictures\kits\2d\outfield\front\default\logos\Crest Only - by SI)
b. COPY the files named 0 - 13.
c. Navigate back a step to the "logos" folder.
d. PASTE the files there, replacing files 0 - 13 that are in that folder.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Fidney.
I have discovered a possible small error from SI. shirt nr. 22 and 23 are identical with shirt nr. 31 and 32. I the editor shirt nr. 22 and 23 are called "double vertical stripe left and right" which match how they look.
In the editor shirt nr. 31 and 32 are called "double horizontal stripe left and right". two things.... How can you have a horizontal stripes in left or right? and the two shirts does not match the (strange) description.
Can you make me two shirts (both front and back) with small double horizontal stripes top (31) and bottom (32) for shirts nr. 31 and 32?

Thanks in advance :-)

I think it's probably more an error in description of the kits.

22 and 23 are double vertical stripe left and right, and the 31 and 32 are double horizontal stripe (left space) and (right space) which is a bad description I agree but the kits are different - for 22 and 23 the stripes are directly next to each other, whilst for the 31 and 32 there is a gap between the stripes. Small difference but a difference nonetheless.

We already have 2 kits with double horizontal stripes - 21, where the stripes are against each other, and 30 where there is a gap between them, which again leads me to believe the design of 31 and 32 is correct.

My SS default kits match the actual design of the SI kits, regardless of the description.

However, I have made a couple of kits as you requested:-
