Thanks for the comment @r96Skinner, it turned out to be a fantastic season but now I need to prepare for a tough one.

It does indeed feel great @Dan but I hope the players enjoy it while it lasts because we'll be lucky to win anything next season.

Bangor: Preseason round-up 2037/38

Promotion from the Championship as champions last season was remarkable considering how the club underachieved the previous campaign but now the football club must prepare for a tough season back amongst the Northern Irish elite. Like most other times the clubs been promoted from the second tier, we're predicted to finish rock bottom so although there's no pressure on the lads, we'll be lucky to get a tenth place finish. Relegation could very well happen.

It was three in and three out this summer at Bangor Fuels Arena as I refused to overhaul the squad. The first signing was a nostalgic one as Sean Curran returned to the place his playing career began as the thirty-five year old striker cost us fifty pounds from recently relegated Dollingstown and I highly doubt he'll be a regular, centre midfielder Stephen Boyd joined from Championship side Limavady United while centre back David Wright arrived from PSNI. Gareth Craig, Stephen Stanex and Paul McIlroy all departed Bangor Fuels Arena when their contracts had expired.

This is the squad that'll begin our first season back in the top flight and although it's a decent looking squad on paper, I unfortunately don't think it's Premiership standard bar a few players here and there and now it's up to them to prove me wrong and survive in the top flight. I'll be expecting Rory Baker (GK), Stephen Boyd (CM), Darren Hagan (AMR) and Gary Hamilton (ST) to be the key players ahead of this season, if they all perform then I believe we'll survive.

Preseason turned out to be a mixed bag on the field as in the eight games arranged the club won four, drew two and lost two as the two defeats came on the road against teams we really should be beating as both Portstewart and former Championship outfit Tandragee turned us over while the two draws came against Stirling Albion and more annoyingly Groomsport who held us at The Meadows. The four preseason friendly wins came against Bangor Young Men, Bangor Swifts, Sport & Leisure Swifts and Everton Under Twenty Three's.

Bangor: Mid season round-up 2037/38

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PGXTpOZKa2pOsvNHO46qx4YI93eOnE5HofVrEszd.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QvJFqNjhzTC9gCkH564JP7mvy9yEcLYMib95YxNK.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xn1hA2SBgkGvQYglWTAdp8YSdFnYc8p6ukhx9xQZ.png

With the Championship trophy secured last season along with the Steel & Sons Cup, Intermediate Cup and Co. Antrim Shield promotion to the Premiership awaited us and a predicted twelfth place finish - a twenty second preseason has been concluded and it's now time for the competitive action to begin.

The football club remain in just one cup competition after Christmas and that'll be the Irish Cup but I don't expect us to progress much further (prove me wrong) as we face a tough trip to fellow Premiership side Coleraine. Our run in both the Co. Antrim Shield and League Cup ended at the semi final stages - in the Shield the side suffered a two nil defeat to Linfield which meant we couldn't retain the Shield while Dungannon Swifts ended our League Cup hopes.

Life in the Premiership has proven to be tough as expected even though it began like a house on fire when the club lost just one of the opening seven games but then the expected downward spiral began as the football club won just three of their next seventeen Premiership games which was a little concerning - the three nil home success against Ballinamallard United on Boxing Day was delightful to see.

So with twenty three league games played we find ourselves in seventh place which I'm delighted enough even if we did go on quite the massive win-less run - our record thus far is eight wins, five draw and ten defeats. Glenavon, as expected lead the league while Crusaders are propping it up.

Bangor: End of season round-up 2037/38

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PGXTpOZKa2pOsvNHO46qx4YI93eOnE5HofVrEszd.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QvJFqNjhzTC9gCkH564JP7mvy9yEcLYMib95YxNK.pnghttps://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xn1hA2SBgkGvQYglWTAdp8YSdFnYc8p6ukhx9xQZ.png

Another season has been done and dusted and although it's been a tough season, it's been an enjoyable one as we find ourselves up seventh place and twelve points above the basement club Crusaders and if our Irish Cup run does end against Coleraine then it won't be the end of the world as we'll have a straight run in the league in an attempt to avoid relegation.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Vo5sJVfEkBZ5XcFCsMKIRJgIwvpRw1it4l7ROyde.jpg

And our run in the Irish Cup did indeed end at the first hurdle with a three goals to one home defeat to Coleraine.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/820gJiydEjbvV3aRlSs6lQVqWcUGw77mbmSpFXh0.jpg

The second part of the league campaign proved to be tough one as just five more league wins happened against Warrenpoint Town, Dungannon Swifts, Ballinamallard United (twice) and Portadown while the league campaign ended with back-to-back defeats against Dungannon Swifts and Crusaders in which we didn't score a goal in those two games.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/MWBUj0IutrSsvyW3ywubXRNYXLZSNoqQmwjUhbf6.jpg

So with the league season done and dusted I'm delighted to have finished the campaign up in seventh place which means we'll qualify for the European playoffs as we finished three points ahead of the sixth placed club. Portadown have been automatically relegated while Crusaders will compete in the relegation/promotion playoff.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kQsI2tFNlNQH9LhBukVow30bvRTHWaJpZBWBCbei.jpg

Our European hopes were dashed at the semi final stage in an attempt to make the Europa League next season as Cliftonville easily defeated is four nil which annoyed me greatly. Eamonn O'Kane gave Cliftonville the lead before Robbie Kennedy's treble sealed the straight forward victory for the Solitude outfit.

After 22 seasons which has seen enjoyment, heartbreak, title and Cup wins, relegations and surprisingly no sackings, its time to announce that this career is no more.

Unfortunately earlier this evening, my laptop decided to pack in and despite countless attempts to try and fix it, it came to no avail and it's dead - I had it for just over two years.

But I told @Dan over private message that I'll be back and I'm hoping it'll be soon as I'll be looking to purchase/order a new one tomorrow, more than likely when I finish work. Ive been tempted to purchase a desktop PC ffs.

That's a real shame @Shedender, was a good career and enjoyed reading it. Hopefully you'll get back to FM as soon as possible!
