Live data update is incompatible with Custom Start Date
If I start game with 31.05.2015 in Spanish First Division there are tons of bugs.

-loan contract (Coentraco)
-last winner (2016) Spanish First Division (Barcelona)
and much more...

You are correct, they cannot work together.
