Dominating The World

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SZKWjv2nOndTFioQ0nGK1jVcFjBEoFGjEFqw6lGq.png

Hello all and welcome to what'll hopefully be my one and only Football Manager 2018 career on the Susie forums and I, for the first time (properly) since the 2015 game attempt to not only conquer Europe but the entire World, managing in countries I never have before and some I'd rather not...

Just like any previous saves I have done, I will be starting unemployed and the reputation of a Sunday League Footballer as it'll make the career more difficult and I'll need to make my way up for a "big" job in the management lark.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4iWhU1KlKqZOCtmoMD2siNdyQOUdrALSmqbduEtO.jpg

Overall there's fifty one countries from all over the world that are playable from the beginning. There's eight countries in Asia, one in South Africa, thirty four countries throughout Europe, two in North America and six in South America so it should be an enjoyable career. Just like my previous careers, I will be starting unemployed with no coaching qualifications and the reputation of a Sunday League Footballer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/lRXLlxQxaPHMUh2kgyxOe7sA6Da3LtLERW8TbOZq.jpg

I've drawn out the countries I've decided to begin with and it's a random set of eight countries from across the world but I'm buzzing to get started. England is the biggest country that's been selected while I've also loaded up all the divisions in Poland, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Singapore, USA and Wales. It's going to be a fun career I'm sure and I won't be adding anymore countries until one has been completed.

It's good to be back, @DNZY.

Cheers @r96Skinner. I had previously holidayed a season while using the add/remove function and added Belarus and it didn't have all the teams manager-less so that's a good sign...

Where will I begin?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WIkwMFFz03DeEWaO07yfMDBrn06WWPfjr8ayIUtG.jpg

Starting the career unemployed I thought I'd immediately head to the "Job Centre" in an attempt to begin looking for my first managerial post. There was thirteen jobs available over the eight nations I had originally loaded but I couldn't plan for them all as there was positions that would've been unrealistic for a managerial nobody like me.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hiXsbU8JTgrpsMaTPIL0Cg2Ci7oHxJxnM4EuZji7.jpg

Like I said previously, thirteen jobs were available from the get go but there was at least six positions I couldn't apply for due to being massively under qualified and those would've been the three Major League Soccer positions at Montreal Impact, New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids while the two English Premier League jobs at Everton and Leicester City and Belgian outfit KV Mechelen would have also been impossible to get at this stage of my career.

I don't really want to begin the career in England so I'm not really wanting to apply for the posts at Bognor Regis, FC United of Manchester, Darlington or Barrow and I feel Gillingham might be too high up as they're in League One.

That leaves two possible vacancies if I choose not to begin in England and that's at Chilean side Cobreloa and Polish outfit Pogon Siedice.

It's a possibility @DNZY.

Cheers @Sean_67, I decided to be different and draw the leagues out of a plastic cup as it then meant I got to avoid loading all the "big" nations first.

@Dan; Chile is a serious possiblity as it's a nice and quick country to manage in.

I'm def. going to apply for the Pogon job @r96Skinner and lets hope I end up getting it as I've never managed in Poland before.

Ha cheers @Suffolk Seasider but please don't stalk me, it would be greatly appriciated.

Cheers @Johno.

Cheers @Ipswich Knights.

Cheers @Ruskii, it's going to be fun and testing but mostly testing of my patience.

Where do I begin?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bfKjWmLJ3DVfFVmg8rJRGQ6qhqCWzzbC3jkDn0hw.png - https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WrgnupWCUsnj77A99C6s1wAJYiBQN9DNlZPhJjHV.png - https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4W33WMrpAhEKQ9UypB9P019uI8DJMEQfwdy06VdD.png

I don't really want to begin my managerial career in England but I decided to apply for the current vacancy at National League North outfit Darlington in case I don't get a job any of the other two jobs that I've applied for and that was at Polish side Pogon Siedlce and the Chilean outfit Cobreloa. Darlington are predicted to finish sixth in the National North, Pogon eleventh in the second tier of Polish football and Cobreloa are predicted to finish fifth in the Chilean second division.

Oh and I turned down an interview at Bognor Regis Town as I considered that a "dead end" job.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/W3sMijUwxk0BO1RsUPzZ1dkzB3CFsUNRLdckRYon.jpg

Here's proof that I've indeed applied for three potential vacancies and ones I'd like to spend a few seasons at in an attempt to build them up into promotion/title contenders. I'm well aware the plan for this career is to win every domestic trophy available but I don't see the point in trying to "rush" the career and I'll only feel like jumping ship if a) I feel the job is done and I can't take the club any further b) I get sacked or c) I've conquered a nation and then that'll be deleted. I've attended all the interviews and now I'm just waiting word back.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PmHzBGy4weyjhMTbj1Fc0AzazU7RUTpSTgu0RUZl.jpg

Well that indeed sucks and it looks like my career will be starting in England after all which isn't ideal and I wish I had drawn out somewhere like Northern Ireland as I would've been guaranteed a job from the start ideally. Unfortunately for me I didn't do enough at Pogon or Cobreloa to get the post which is a shame so it's off to Darlington's Blackwell Meadow's I go.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fWD2lsFwSmyYei9k5zE9vnHIt9nYFdUg9usOEOCj.jpg

And there's the conformation that I've been appointed as the new manager of Darlington Football Club who ply there trade in the National League North and are predicted to finish the campaign in sixth place and it's going to be tough to achieve that as I know next to nothing about the club but I'll give it my best shot even though it wasn't my first choice of destination. I've agreed a one year deal at the club and I'm hoping I do well enough so it can get extended.

Our league campaign begins with a tough trip to Salford City.

The National League North is a tough league this season. Your first opponents have a strong side, I mean they attracted Redshaw who I thought could have done a job for us in League 1.

Oh I'm well aware with how tough the National Leagues are to escape @Suffolk Seasider so I know my spell at Darlington is going to be a tough one but one I'm looking forward to as well.

Yep and that's what's also appealed to me @r96Skinner even though I didn't want to begin this career in England.

Although I didn't want to begin in England, I'll always try my hardest to succeed @Dan.

Darlington: Pre season round-up 2017/18

I've decided not to bring any new faces to the football club in my first transfer window as I feel the current squad deserve a chance to get us a minimum of a playoff spot which is what the current board are expecting and if I can deliver more than superb. We ended up playing eight games during a busy preseason program as I decided to add a few more games to the current schedule.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JUKgcXaCxkZqyb5uXSJEhnk8iaO8Q2OENeZXIt7X.jpg

It turned out to be a somewhat successful preseason program as I guided the club to five victories from the eight scheduled games all on the road as Darlington beat Clydebank two one, Northallerton three one, Shildon four nil, Bishop Auckland two one and Penrith one nil while Sunderland and Coalville defeated us three nil and three one respectively and a nil nil draw away to Norton & Stockton Ancients also happened. I'm hopeful the squad is ready for the league campaign which will begin on the road to Salford City.

Darlington: August 2017

With a mixed but somewhat successful preseason program behind us it was now time to begin the National League North campaign as the opening month of the twenty seventeen twenty eighteen season saw us play seven games all in the league. Four of the games were at home against Gainsborough, Alferton, Telford and Spennymoor while we also had to make trips to Salford, York and North Ferriby within the opening month.

National League North - Match Day One
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eNEcFP8hZFoQr1ExOta9upqk9fIXueDqIvJ7RwUn.jpg

Our league campaign began with a single goal defeat away to Salford City in which I take full blame for the defeat. Jack Redshaw scored the only goal on fifty nine minutes when I perhaps idiotically went with an attacking mentality even though they were barely troubling us up until the goal. Oh well, you live and learn.

National League North - Match Day Two
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fnEsVHl4UfgAJbAH9Mwk09KOz29IWMrjSl3PDggL.jpg

My first competitive win as Darlington manager in just my second game as Gainsborough were defeated one nil at Blackwell Meadows, after a dour first half I decided we needed to go attacking at home and within a minute of the second half James Caton got on the end of a cross to score the winner.

National League North - Match Day Three
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/au6Lu6b7hDZkvDqUN5Y3wu552kZttagzFwcfsCSa.jpg

Two goals inside the space of four first half minutes saw the points shared against Alferton at Blackwell Meadows. Young attacking midfielder Fletcher put us into the lead on ten minutes but just four minutes later former Notts County, Chesterfield, Walsall, Portsmouth and Mansfield winger/forward Craig Westcarr equalised and that's how the game ended.

National League North - Match Day Four
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QEYSSMUlRoShRa5hnbpAaYiulwpLjxbFNT2C6w3U.jpg

Following a two game unbeaten run it came to an end in heartbreaking fashion at York's Bootham Cresent as the hosts won the game three goals to two thanks to a goal two minutes from time but we led the contest twice thanks to goals from Joe Wheatley and Harvey Saunders but an own goal and then two goals in the final twenty minutes from Rankine and Wharton won the game for York.

National League North - Match Day Five
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZZR2alSv1kAw6EsvqpRDCqruyaBuiEajQJoh823U.jpg

It was our turn to score a last gasp goal as the side salvaged a home draw against an AFC Telford side who must be frustrated not to have held on for maximum points. James Caton gave us the lead on thirty three minutes but goals from Murphy and Sutton turned the game around for the visitors - Mark Beck's goal a minute from time salvaged a point for Darlo.

National League North - Match Day Six
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5gTICe1LKPEYUSg1vnQtiGJuZ7awcRiaMLHucf19.jpg

The penultimate game of the opening month took us to North Ferriby United, they won two nil thanks to second half goals from Bateson and Emerton. We were outplayed from start to finish and by far the worst performance of the season to date.

National League North - Match Day Seven
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kH4X7VgZU7QE49Fh5SH9nTXeRvg4wqc2vqc1SxrQ.jpg

Spennymoor made the trip to Blackwell Meadows for the final league game of the month and despite Dave Syers being shown a straight red card on thirty four minutes we showed great resilience and got rewarded when Harvey Saunders bagged a dramatic late winner with the game entering second half stoppage time.

It's been a steep learning curve at Darlington as after seven games we find ourselves down in thirteen position with just two wins so far and they came both at home against Gainsborough and Spennymoor. Salford, as expected, lead the league and currently unbeaten.

Darlington: September 2017

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/voyyyfFWLCnoyOyCUBBChEm0EEBjsr7lBxo5HOEv.png - https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BMWqX93JRltbasZIuGG53HTXEaVdz7SP08wkliRr.png - https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aOjOdrttv0gLIegPBczPD16d7MhbJoIrviPAMmkh.png

It's been a mixed start as Darlington manager after the opening seven games in which we find ourselves in thirteenth position with two wins, two draws and three defeats thus far as we enter the second month of the competitive fixtures in the National League North. We begin the month with back-to-back away games but three straight home games (one of those in the FA Cup qualifying round) and the month ends with a trip to Boston United.

National League North - Match Day Eight
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2hOOVTMXItKYIkOip77iWPMJJceUNuhifF4kBN72.jpg

September began with a trip to Southport in which we suffered a humiliating three nil defeat. Steven Schumacher scored twice while Clarke scored in between Schumacher's brace.

National League North - Match Day Nine
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/XaCL7w8bgjWMeBq02idR0CvxyjY8NyrS3UvyYIOI.jpg

A goal in either half gave Chorley a two nil victory in our next game as Carver brook the deadlock on twenty eight minutes before an own goal from Kevin Burgess doubled Chorley's lead.

National League North - Match Day Ten
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PNIV6J2a6UpKJyrZz316gttZMEualHLSYymIwj4F.jpg

It's now three games without a goal as Leamington scored with five minutes remaining through Obeng at Blackwell Meadows.

National League North - Match Day Eleven
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FgARkdkSQRqdY9hGZxijSsYMWn569Lfi9PfbuADn.jpg

You can now make it four games without a win and a goal as FC United of Manchester picked up a single goal victory at Blackwell Meadows, G. Brown was shown a straight red card after only twelve minutes for Darlo and it took FCUM until the seventy third minute for the visitors to take the lead and score the winner through Walker.

FA Cup - Second Qualifying Round
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8M95SHf9AkURnMmFAkZhPQnCXUb84Q93enSvR1p6.jpg

We're out of the FA Cup in the second qualifying round and we failed to score again as AFC Telford won two nil, Marsden bagged a brace.

National League North - Match Day Twelve
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WInRmVPeUtKX4COMxlN1XIhkHy28KAd15vxGgu0x.jpg

We have just gone through the entire month of September without scoring a goal as Boston United scored two second half goals to give them a two nil win as Hemmings and Rollins scored at York Street.

A disgusting month has seen Darlo plummet down the league table from thirteenth to twenty first and I don't know how we're going to get out of this hole. Confidence is ruined, we aren't scoring which means we can't be winning and I'm so glad Gainsborough have had a worst start than ourselves.after twelve games. Salford still, as expected, lead the table

I didn't realise that was at all possible VP until my recent month. I've never had a worse month.

Ha @Dan I probably shouldn't have posted it on Twitter first but it was quite invitable, wasn't it? It's been a brutal stint.

It was poor @Suffolk Seasider.

Who says they're going to wait until the morning @DNZY? Turn it around? I doubt it very much as the confidence is shot with this lot and nothing is working.

Same @Ipswich Knights, I mean I've gone through an entire month before losing every game but at least I was able to score a few in the process.

The record won't be getting posted @jambowambo as it's nothing something to brag about ha.

I don't think I'll be able to turn it around @r96Skinner as there's no confidence in the squad now, I should feel somewhat responable.

It was a brutal month @kinggazzaman.

With the pressure now on me from to pick up eleven points from the next five games and no confidence throughout the squad, surely the sack loomed in my first managerial job at Darlington Football Club. The first two games this month saw us welcome Stockport County to Blackwell Meadows before travelling to Nuneaton.

National League North - Match Day Thirteen
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BJwccHl8UDMtmqI0iCu2MkLYbQCCTpVnGjmBqOEW.jpg

The first game of the month saw us welcome Stockport County to Blackwell Meadows as we were held to a score draw which meant we actually scored a goal. Dass gave County the lead before Mark Beck levelled on the stroke of half time.

A trip to Nuneaton was up next and it proved to be my final game in charge of Darlington as an early goal from Geohaghon after only ten minutes proved to be the winner.
