hi there!
There is a problem with this patch. As soon as i placed the "simatchviewer_uncompressed" in the right direction, it works fine BUT the names of the players and their condition do not appear. When i removed the file and reloaded the catche, everything turned back to normal. Is there anything you can do about it to fix the issue or should i remove the file permanetly?

This has question has been asked and answered several times in this thread, it’s a bug within the game, unfortunately right now Video ads are very bugged. Right now there are 3 separate bugs with the ads and until they are addressed by SI there will be very little updates to the patch unfortunately.

Hi,Rabcp
I'm trying to make CSL videoads bymyself.
I have a problem about the lcd texture.Should I copy and paste over again and again to stitch those layers or just enlarge on layer? Which is better?
Many thanks!

There is a tutorial for this which I’ll try and repost tonight.

How to make a Video Adboard

Required ResourcesIn this post, I'll explain how to make a simple scrolling video adboard, if people want it I can post a few minor guides for more advanced effects with video adboards such as spinning images, zooming in and out of images etc.

1.
First of all, we need to make our adboard, In Photoshop create a new image sized 2816 x 88 pixels, this is the adboard size I have been using to date. Within the game adboards are repeated twice behind the goals and three times along the pitch. This is where the calculator comes in, the gaps between all images (e.g. Sportsdirect.com in this case) need to be the same size. they should also be half the size at the start and end of the image. This will ensure that when the ads line up they maintain the same pattern.
https://s26.postimg.cc/po30w3g3t/temp.png

Once made from the Layer menu select Merge Layers, then copy the adboard.
https://s26.postimg.cc/p3jefnxhl/sd1.png

2.
Create a new image double the length of the adboard (5632 x 88 pixels) and paste the adboard at the start and end of the new image. Again, merge the layers, we need this size of image to create the scrolling effect. As you can see because of the above calculations the gaps between all images are the same size when combined.
https://s26.postimg.cc/tyd3dxvt5/sd_2_zpsks8joleo.png_original.png

3.
Now we create our image for the actual adboard, sized 2816 x 88 pixels. We want the adboard to scroll from left to right so once the previous (5632 x 88) image is pasted onto this image we want the end of the adboard to be line up with the edge at left hand side of our new image.
https://s26.postimg.cc/m32jz4m6h/move.png

https://s26.postimg.cc/p3jefnxhl/sd1.png

4.
We now need to create the image effect, to do this we create a Video Timeline, select the Window Menu thenTimeline. Once the Timeline Menu appears at the bottom of the screen select the Create Video Timeline option.
https://s26.postimg.cc/4zzs3m5hl/create_video.png

5.
In Photoshop, the standard timeline is 5 seconds, for this adboard we want to make it 10 seconds. To do this we click on the end of the layer one timeline (highlighted) and drag right until the timeline becomes 10 seconds long.
https://s26.postimg.cc/4yufnxt1l/time.png

https://s26.postimg.cc/eod86r0ax/sd_6_zpscovag3nq.png_original.png

6.
We now want to create our start and end points of the animation of the adboard. With the timeline bar at the start of the timeframe (Blue Arrow) click the position action then drag the blue arrow to the end of the timeline and click the position action again
https://s26.postimg.cc/g9shykaix/time_1.png

7.
With the timeline now at the 10 second point we drag the image all the way across from left to right until the end of the image now meets the left edge of the border, this creates the scrolling effect, if you select the play option in the timeline tab you'll see the effect in photoshop.
https://s26.postimg.cc/cz44yokll/sd_8_zpsnhabs4ce.png_original.png

https://s26.postimg.cc/p3jefnxhl/sd1.png

8.
We now save the image. File → Export → Save for Web (Legacy)

9.
Open up the saved image, this time the image will display each separate frame in the timeline and as a layer. We now want to give our adboard a LCD texture. Open the Video.png file and copy the image and then switch back to your gif. Click the tab with 3 lines and then Select All Frames then click on the very last layer.
https://s26.postimg.cc/jhwzblwsp/action.png

10.
Paste the adboard texture. Every frame will now just be the texture, however once we apply the Multiply effect we will now have every frame displaying our intended image with a LCD effect. We then save our final adboard again. File → Export → Save for Web (Legacy)
https://s26.postimg.cc/940qw41ft/multiply_layers.png

11.
We now need to convert our Gif file. First we go to Cloud Convert, upload your gif file choosing a .avi conversion and download the converted file.

11.
In your download folder hold down your shift key, right click and select Open Command Window Here. Assuming that our file is called SD.avi type the following command

ffmpeg -i SD.avi SD.ivf
This will instruct ffmpeg to convert the avi file into an ivf file and we now have a finished useable adboard.

Those pictures can't be shown when I study it in FM17's forum. Now I can understand it better, Thanks again!.

I don't bother with the LCD Texture as it comes out in the game anyway. I just make the graphics, do the transitions and convert.

To convert the .gif to avi I use Prism Video Converter Download here

To convert the .avi to .ivf I use XMedia Recode Download here

I also keep mine to 60 pixels high, the same as the SI ones. To me, 88 pixels high makes them over 5 feet high in the scale of the game

So I play with Rangers F.C., who also use the video adboards, and if I understand you correctly, the "blacked out" boards may be the result of some breakdown in the coding (i.e., a bug) that SI has produced, thereby causing this patch to load and look proper for those stadiums that do not offer the video adboard feature but to black out those stadiums that do. I also believe I understood you to say that you do not anticipate being able to work on a patch until such time that SI repairs their coding to fix this issue internally.

Incorrect. What you need to do is use FM2018 Resource Archiver to unpack YOUR simatchviewer_uncompressed.fmf from :\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2018\data folder. It has to be your simatchviewer_uncompressed.fmf as it does not seem to work so well with other peoples.

You then need replace the videos file in your extracted file with the videos file that contains the video_ads file, (same as FM17). You need to then place your new extracted simatchviewer_uncompressed file, with the videos file in it, into Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2018\data folder. You do not need to compress again, just put the extracted file, with your video adds in it, into the \Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2018\data folder.

I've never used the resource archiver. Where do I find this and how do I use it? I'm fairly savvy so I only need a nudge in the right direction.

Hi!

In Steam, under Library, you'll find Tools. In that list you'll find Football Manager 2018 Resource Archiver. It's free to download.

It didn't fix the blacked out video boards. But it did fix the name and number issue in the 3D match engine.

Not sure how it is a bug. It is working for me and plenty of others. Do the SI boards load if you remove all the video ad board files?

Make sure you clear the cache in preferences and re load your skin after installing the fonts, you may have to turn game off then back on again if you installed the fonts with the game running
