Hi,

Used to be on this site years ago and would always download the real names patch, but last few years I have been playing FMT on my Android / Google tablet... will the real names patch work on that platform?

I know you can update the names etc. on FMM but I wasnt sure about FMTouch on Android.

Thanks Ed

Simple answer is yes.

The Android installation has the same folder structure as the PC version. The same real names patch (or any edt and lnc files) that works on the PC version will also work on the Android version. I am using just fine it on my Android installation at the moment.

Same goes for graphics (logos, kit-packs, facepacks etc) though there's a few more hoops to jump through than on the PC to get them working.

Good to know that real names and graphics work on Android tablets.

Could you please give me a few tips in regard to getting graphics into FMT?

Thanks for any help.

OK, first of all, the Android version has the same folder structure as the PC version, so in theory you can just copy across whatever you have on your PC onto your tablet.

However - at least in my case - for the graphics it simply could not cope with copying across so many small files and it would always time out (or my patience would), so for the bulk of your graphics you need to create fmf archives (which is how SI provide the in-game graphics) using the archiving tool.

Second problem I hit was that it did not like very large files and fmf archive over 2Gb refused to transfer to my tablet. I wanted ALL the club badges on my tablet, so I actually had to create 2 fmf archives for the Normal sized ones, each with it's own config.

So, in the end I have fmf files for faces (this one I downloaded and is a reduced file), flags, kits, stadiums and trophies, then rather than a clubs.fmf I have a clubs folder and inside that I have a normal.fmf a normal2.fmf and a small.fmf

You can still have the same folders in ...graphics/pictures as you do on the PC with unarchived graphics in (which I have for some custom graphics for a made up club) and they work just as well and alongside the .fmf archives it's just that it's not practical to have all the graphics this way - you need bulk in an .fmf file.

So, once you have the graphics on your android, you are half-way there. You need to switch skins for them to show.

I downloaded a set of skins, and each skin was quadruplicated (is that a word?!) - for example it came with "fmc dark graphics", "fmc dark graphics1", "fmc dark graphics2" and "fmc dark graphics3" and instructions said that for your graphics to show you need to switch skins which seemed fair enough.

But what I didn't realise was that the first time you use a skin it locks the graphics for that particular skin to whatever you have at that time - so if you add logos then switch skins, the logos will show, but if you then add kits you need to switch to another skin for them to show too, and just to make it as frustrating as hell - if you switch back to the previous skin only the logos will show. Took me ages and a whole lot of swearing to work this out, and by the time I had, I had switched between all available skins so I had to "make" another version of that skin (which is copying and renaming en existing version, and editing the skin_config.xml - easy if you are familiar with this kind of fiddling, but daunting if not).

For ease and to save yourself a lot of pain and make sure you get all the graphics you want in place on the tablet first, THEN change the skin.

Hope this helps (or at least doesn't confuse).

In theory, but I don't have an iPad so it may not work in the same way as the Android version.

Sam amswer as above really. I'm afraid I don't have an iPad so I can't really say for sure, but I would be surprised if it's not possible to get it to work. Guess that the iPad installation path may be different to the Android one, but that's just guesswork.
