I recently read a book, The Miracle of Castel di Sangro by Joe Mcginnis. The book was about a small town club, who managed to work there way from the lowest reaches of Italian football all the way to Serie B, where they battled giants like Genoa, Bari, Pescara, etc. It inspired me to take over an Italian side on FM. I picked Arzachena because, like Castel di Sangro, they are favorites to be relegated and were recently promoted. Arzachena is a small town with a population of a measly 13 thousand people. On the Italian boot, Arzachena is the can being kicked. It's a beautiful seaside town in Sardina and the Costa Smeralda is popular amongst tourists

The Team

Arzachena Costa Smeralda had been plying its trade in Serie D and the Eccelenza for most of its duration. This all changed during the 2016-17 season when they were promoted to Serie C for the 1st time in club history. In real life, Arzachena survived relegation finishing 15th, but in FM we are favorites to get relegated and it would be a miracle to get to the top half. I hope for the sake of my budding managerial career, we can fight off relegation.

The Manager

Taking over for Arzachena Costa Smeralda is none other than the 2 time Everton Player of the month, the man who scored the 23rd most international goals of all time, one time Fifa Legend..... LANDON MOTHERFUCKING DONOVAN. In real life, Donovan has just unretired for the 2nd time to play Club Leon and proven once again that he is the greatest footballer to ever grace the pitch. For the sake of this Career story thing, let's just pretend he decided to hang up his boots for good (much to the chagrin of football fans around the universe) and picked up his clipboard while on vacation here in the Costa Smeralda.
