"For the Fans" - Ferguson

Everton co-chairman and club legend Duncan Ferguson has hailed manager David Moyes as the best in the Premier League along with dedicating the win of the Capital One Cup to the Everton fans.
In an interview on the pitch after the game at Wembley, Ferguson said: "This is what I came back to Everton for, days like today. When I was a player here, we won the FA Cup in 1995 and seeing the looks on the faces of the fans was just a joy to behold. When I came back to co-own the club, I vowed to return the smiles to the faces of the fans and today I can say that has been done. Today is for them."
"All the thanks has to go to David. I may have given him the money but he made the signings and the signings he has made have been nothing short of sensational. He's got the team working together brilliantly and watching Everton play football is easily the highlight of my week. In my opinion, David Moyes is the best manager in the Premier League by far. What he has achieved here at Everton has been nothing short of miraculous and long may it continue."

Semi final draw

The draw for the 2012/13 FA Cup semi final has today been made live at Wembley with Tottenham facing Capital One cup winners Everton and last year's runners up Liverpool facing Championship side Brighton.
Everton and Tottenham have met three times in competitive action over the course of the 2012-13 season with two out of the three games resulting in a 1-0 win for the home side. In the Premier League, Everton have failed to beat Tottenham. At White Hart Lane, a goal from Jan Vertonghen have Spurs a 1-0 win and the two sides drew 0-0 at Goodison Park. However, in the Captial One cup, Everton did triumph over Tottenham, beating them 1-0 thanks to a goal from Nikica Jelavic. The last time the two sides met in the FA Cup was in 1995 when Everton ran out 4-1 winners. They went on to lift the trophy.
This season, Liverpool and Brighton have not played against each other. However, last season, the two sides faced each other twice. Both of these games saw Liverpool beat Brighton to knock them out of a cup. First in September as a 2-1 win at the Amex Stadium knocked Brighton out of the Carling Cup and secondly, in February when a 6-1 win sent Liverpool through to the 6th round of the FA Cup.

With the Merseyside derby against Liverpool coming up and the Premier League title within touching distance, Evertonfc.com sat down with David Moyes with three questions.
Hello David, The first question, during your reign as Everton manager we have never had much success over Liverpool. How important is it to beat Liverpool do you think?.
That's something I've been looking to rectify. Sure, there are eighteen other teams in the league so if we lose to Liverpool it is not the be all and end all, but beating Liverpool is very important. For us and the fans, it's all about pride. There is nothing better than beating your local rivals. Fans want to go into work on a Monday morning and gloat about their team beating Liverpool and we aim to give them that chance. It's arguably the most important fixture of the season.
The Premier League title is within sight, what's the secret this season? Why have we been so good?
One word Lee, consistency. If you look at the past few seasons, we have always been really strong in the later part of the season and had a terrible start. This season we had a good start and kept it up. There has only been one game where we can say that we were truly poor and that was against Chelsea. Other than that we have been excellent, working as a unit and getting results.
Finally, we're through to the FA Cup final to play Brighton. Are you confident of winning?
As manager I have got to be confident. if I'm not confident about anything neither will the players. Of course we are helped by playing Championship opposition but it's important that we don't get complacent. Brighton won't be an easy team to beat and we are going to have to play well to beat them.

Everton crowned champions

David Moyes is being hailed as a miracle worker after his Everton side were finally crowned Premier League champions following a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates.
Knowing they only needed a point to be champions, Everton took the game to Arsenal at the Emirates and won 2-1, thanks to a brace from striker Charlie Austin. The three points means that second place Man City can no longer mathematically catch Everton, giving them their first league title since 1987. It is also the 10th time the Merseyside club have lifted the English top division title.
In an interview with Sky Sports News, an emotional David Moyes spoke of his pride at winning the title with Everton: "This is by far the best moment of my career to date. When I came to Everton in 2002, I never in my wildest dreams expected to see this day. I've never felt so proud in my life and I want to thank the players, staff and the fans for making this all possible. It's great that we have been able to give something back to the fans as they are by far the best in England."

With Everton being confirmed as Premier League champions on Saturday following the 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates, Evertonfc.com ventured into the city center to find out what the fans thought.
Dave Lewis (32): "Easily the best day of my life to date. Just seeing the looks on the faces of all the Liverpool fans when we were confirmed champions was just brilliant. To think, all the crap they gave us back in 1998 when we almost went down and we end up winning the Premier League before them."
Matt Gillespie (22): "A big thanks should go out to David Moyes. The work he has done since he came to Everton has been absolutely brilliant. He's got the players working as a team which is something we've never had before and the squad we have is one of the best in Everton history."
Mick Holloway (70): "I was alive when Everton won quite a few of their titles in the old first division. I have to admit, with all these foreign billionaire owners coming in, I'd never thought I'd see the day again. David Moyes has come up with some form of miracle to win us the Premier League title. He should be knighted.."
Mark Lloyd (35): "I was 10 when Everton last won the title so to see them win it again is great. David has done wonders but most of the credit should go to the players. They have played so well this season and I hope they have a high bonus for winning the league."

Co-Chairmen reaction

Following Everton's win over Arsenal which saw them crowned Premier League champions, Evertonfc.com caught up with co-chairmen Duncan Ferguson and Bill Kenwright to get their reactions.
"I was crying in my seat in the stands" said Bill Kenwright. "I've been at Everton now for 24 years and this is the proudest I've ever been. Noone gave us a hope of winning the title at the start of the season and we were laughed at for just dreaming of getting into the top 4. How nice it is to prove everyone wrong and I would personally like to thank David Moyes for the excellent job he has done over the past 11 years."
Everton cult hero Ferguson, was in a similar state of mind following the Premier League win. "I must admit, I was on the verge of tears. When I was here as a player, we almost got relegated from this league back in 1998 so to come back as a member of the board fifteen years later and see us win it is astounding. Credit has to go for Moyes for the superb job he has done. He is by far one of the best managers out there today and I'm honored to have worked with him both at board room level and as a player."
