Hello guys,

not sure if this is the correct place for such a topic but I am having problems launching the game.

I recently purchased the game and installed it on a laptop I have recently had wiped clean. The installation of the game and steam itself went well without any problems but that's where my luck runs out. When launching the game I can leave my laptop for an hour to return without the game loading up. Then when I try attempt to launch the game again an error message appears and says "failed to start game (app already running)"

I am hoping someone on here has faced the same problem before so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had a quick look around the FM scene for you for a solution, Most people who have encountered this problem have realized it was the shortcut they were clicking that was the problem, perhaps if you try launching the game directly from your steam library you might get some luck.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Sadly I have tried launching the game from steam, the shortcut on my desktop and even from "my computer" all to the same effect. I have uninstalled both the game and steam and installed them again but still the game refuses to load.

It's strange because I have ran fm10, fm11 and fm12 all from this laptop without any problems prior to having the latest windows put on to this laptop so I am confused as to why I am having such a difficult time with this game.

Have you tried verifying your cache?

In your steam library right click on the game and click the verify the game cache option.

I have attempted that already but after over an hour it was still on 0% so I am convinced there is something wrong with either steam or the desk itself but a system check has showed everything is running okay.

Okay so finally verified the game cache successfully but game still won't bloody load, annoyed now lol

I've had a look around for you and came across this, no idea if it will work but it's worth a shot surely.
Open Steam and access your Games Library
- Right-click on Football Manager 2013-> Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options
- Type this in the box: -small_screen -windowed
- Click on OK, close the window and launch FM13 through Steam

this happens to me sometimes , i usually open up task manager then go onto processes and then end fm13 and it usually works. not sure if youve already tried this or not

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I have attempted them all to no effect. I give up now, haven't a clue what's wrong with it!

Is there anything I could be missing which leads to the game not launching? for example I have just installed a validity fingerpoint sensor which my laptop kept telling me I was missing...

I doubt that's the problem, most likely it's a memory fault if non of the aforementioned fixes have worked, what specs does your computer have?
