A tentative CBA deal has been reached! Only took them 113 days...

The NHL will hopefully be back on the ice by the 20th.

Pretty excited for the brief season, I'm quite optimistic about this line-up. Looks pretty strong in center with Cammy leading the way as Backlund should maybe look to make a breakthrough season. Super pumped to see what Cervanka can do, when he was a free agent the likes of Rangers and some other teams wanted to sign him.

One of Iginla or Kiprusoff should probably leave the team after this season though, most likely Kiprusoff as he could yield the most in terms of what we can get... I think a rotation between Karlsson and Irving (who's close to being NHL-ready) would do a decent job.

Apparently the key to success last night was to either be a rookie playing your first game or a really old veteran. Strong nights from veterans Jagr, Selänne, Kovalev, Whitney and St. Louis as well as rookies Huberdeau, Tarasenko and Conacher.

Erik Karlsson impresses me more than anyone as a powerplay quarterback. Had a chance to see him play last season vs. Rangers in Ottawa and he ran the show. Skated up and down the ice making plays and being the main source of creativity on the powerplay as well.

Same for Ekman-Larsson, 2G 1A last night!! Picked him on my fantasy team and paid off nicely, love these Swedish offensive Ds

I love Andrei Markov. Praying to the hockey gods that he'll stay healthy all season long. We'll make the playoffs if he does.

Oh, and Alex Galchenyuk is going to be a superstar in this league.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have fired GM Scott Howson.

Rumours going around saying former Blues Assistant GM Jarmo Kekäläinen is on the Jackets shortlist to take over, if that happens he would be the first non-North American to be appointed general manager of an NHL team.

Edit: It's official now, Jarmo Kekäläinen is the new GM of the Blue Jackets.

Man this Habs team is just soooo much better than last year.

The Penguins and Bruins this weekend will be a nice test to see where this team is really at. If we beat them I might actually start to consider this team as a contender.
