Might have to just stay as it's getting tough to get jobs from top Malaysian and even Singaporean teams. Maybe a Hong Kong team would like me but I might just stay with both Borneo FC and clean up the finances and make player wages lower so that the board can spend money on a coaching course for me while I can do the olympics with the South African U23s next year in 2020.

Well, here it is, the end of season awards ceremony for 2019. The fans' player of the season ended out being Matias Conti after a fantastic season which ended in him earning a contract extension for his fine form. He got 55% of the fans' votes while Wanggai got 20% of votes as he came runner-up while Erliandry managed to get 15% of the fans' vote in 3rd place. The fans' player of the season runner-up, Wanggai also won the goal of the season with his effort against PSS back in September. The signing of the season ended out being Brazilian centre-back, Heliton while Gilang Alfarizi won the young player of the season award and he's someone I would like to take to my next club whenever I join my next club.
2019 SEASON REVIEW
It was definitely a memorable season for Borneo FC as we won the double since we claimed the Piala Super Cup and the league. We also came 3rd in the Piala Indonesia and the media think our match of the season was when we won 6-3 against PSM but we should definitely try and forget our unfortunate 6-2 loss to Persib.
SQUAD DYNAMICS
Our squad dynamics has started to change and it looks like we've got some harmony in it now. Matias Conti is now a team leader and Erliandry is a highly influential player while we got plenty of influential players throughout our squad.
END OF SEASON CONFIDENCE REVIEW
We've definitely gained a lot of confidence from the board as winning the league was a major highlight and there is no major criticism of us which is great!

Unforunate for Matias Conti as he was only 1 goal behind yet he only came 5th...
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
I really don't know how none of our players made the top 3 but I think we can concur that these awards are rigged.
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Another surprise here as none of our players even made the top 3 yet the player with the most assists and 3rd in highest average rating, Alfarizi who's 17 did not get the top 3. Not to mention Frizzo who had a higher average rating then all of these players in the top 3. #riggedawards
COACH OF THE YEAR
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to win the coach of the year... I really don't know how this other dude won as we had a better win percentage by 8% while we've scored more goals and yet we get less "manager points" as the league winners. Plus how did we not even come second?! This random dude who had a win percentage that was lower than ours by 14% and he fewerway less goals yet he somehow gets 2 more "manager points". We should definitely win the award next season, but to get these "manager points" it seems like we're going to have to own the league.

Our high-performing striker, Lyle Foster has taken out the top player after his fantastic performances that won us this competition.

It was none other than Lyle Foster who took out the golden boot as he scored 7 goals in 5 appearances!

Mpoti also managed to win the best goalkeeper of the tournament as he only conceded 5 goals in 5 games.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to win the competition, but we got some consolation in the fact that Erliandry won the golden boot and Matias Conti got the most assists.

This is definitely a transfer that lots of people didn't want to see but I believe it has actually benefited the team with the arrival of Denilson and Hartanto as well as helping us clean up our few hundred thousand dollar debt. It means we will no longer have to deal with 13 yellow cards and 2 red cards throughout the league season as we get him off the wage bill. Also a nice, tidy £50K profit.

PRE-SEASON
Had a pretty great February as we smashed the team I was linked with 3-0. Following a friendly match, we had a tough match which would decide if we qualify for the AFC Champions League group stage. We somehow won 1-0 thanks to a Matias Conti winner in the last minutes and then followed up with some good match practice as we won 2 friendlies.
SEASON PREVIEW
PIALA SUPER CUP DRAW
The Piala Super Cup draw has pitted us against reigning Piala Indonesia winners, Persela in which should be a winnable match held on the 14th March.
NEW CONTRACT EXTENSION
Got a fresh new contract as our wage is now bumped up to £1.7K per week.
AFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Our first match in which we smashed Kitche 3-0 which was away from home!
Our 2nd match which also was away from home ended in us beating Korean team Gyeongnam who finished 3rd in the top Korean league last season and have a reputation of 2 1/2*

We've clear favourites to win the title and I'm very sure we can win it. Anyways, I am only still at the club because no one else wants me so I'll just get more trophies which will look good for my reputation.

Our new signing Denilson is the favourites to win the Golden Boot while Matias Conti has a very good shout but in my honest opinion, there is only one player who can win it and that is Alfarizi.

Denilson is once again made favourites to win the top player award while his South American teammates Matias Conti and Heliton are also within a decent shout of winning it. But where's Alfarizi?

Well, guess who's favourites to win the top young player award? None other than Denilson but you can see Alfarizi has a shout and he should win it while Hartanto even made the list.
LEAGUES IN FOCUS
Here is a look at all the leagues in focus and we'll show you the history at the end of the year alongside the awards such as the Balon d'Or and the European Golden Boy while also looking at the winners of the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup. Anyways, moving onto La Liga, this season it is Atletico at the top of the table with Barcelona and Real Madrid far below in the pecking order while Valencia is in a shout of finishing runner-up and are likely to qualify for Champions League football. In England, it's the battle of Manchester for the title right now but Man Utd are a few points behind while Man City have a game in hand as they battle to make Manchester blue (just for now). Ligue 1 is doing it's typical PSG win the thing again with Monaco finishing 2nd and Lyon + Marseille top out the top 4 while Juventus are getting a heavy knock on the door from Inter Milan for the title as they're equal on points. Meanwhile, in the Bundesliga, Bayern seem to have been knocked off their perch but as only 1 point separates Leverkusen, Dortmund and Bayern, you would have to put your money on Bayern winning the league AGAIN. In Portugal, it's once again Porto and Benfica battling for the title while Sporting is still trying to recover from their fight from 2018 which ended out in them losing some of their key players on free transfers. In Argentina, River Plate is battling with Racing Club for the title Boca Juniors are far from the title level. In Australia, it's Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers at the top of the table while my manager's boyhood club Perth Glory are sitting outside the playoff zone.

Very disappointing youth intake here as all we get is a 2* ability player with low potential and he doesn't even play in any of our positions for our formation and will have to be trained into a back up CB since he's competent there or a CM which he is unconvincing at...

An extremely tough draw for our group and it would take something amazing to not finish and something crazily special to make it out of this group, but at least it will be good match practice against top quality sides and it will be my first taste of continental football.
FIRST GAME VS FC HIROSHIMA (JPN)
Don't know how, but we managed to draw 2-2 with FC Hiroshima...
We were down 2-0 for almost all of the game and I was happy enough we even got a goal in the 81st minute, but I was absolutely shocked when we got the stoppage time goal to gain a draw and guess who ended out winning the man of the match!
SECOND GAME VS GUANGZHOU EVERGRANDE (CHN)
I'd say they're probably the strongest team in the group and they ended out beating us 2-0, but there really wasn't anything we could have done about it.
THIRD GAME VS JEONBUK HYUNDAI (KOR)
Great game for us as we avoid defeat against this Korean team!
Despite getting dominated in possession and them having 25 shots, we did get a few shots of our own and managed to grind out the draw.
GROUP TABLE
We're actually still in a shout of not finishing last and potentially even qualifying for the next stage but that is highly unlikely. Our 2 hard-earned draws have gotten us two points while FC Hiroshima also only have 2 points while Guangzhou Evergrande have 4 while the team on top, Geonbuk Hyundai have 7 points whom we drew with.
PIALA SUPER CUP
Another trophy to add to our cabinet as we absolutely smash Persela 4-0 our 4 different attacking players score goals including our 3 strikers and attacking midfielder.

Wasn't the world's greatest month and we had a few up and downs along the way but a decent month with good AFC Champions League performances. I can already sense that this isn't going to be an easy season and the league title might come down to the wire of a point or so similar to last season's 1 point difference finish.
LEAGUE TABLE
We now sit 3rd in the table after 5 games and we're only a slim 2 points off the current leaders of the table.
100 MATCHES IN MANAGEMENT
We've now reached a new major milestone in our managerial career as Matt Eskins has managed 100 competitive matches and celebrated it with a ferocious comeback against Hiroshima were we scored 2 goals in the last 20 minutes to win the game 3-2 after being down 2-1 in the 80th minute.
PRIZE MONEY FROM HIROSHIMA MATCH
Our club has been hanging on a thread when it comes to finances and we've really needed that 40K right there. Hopefully we can somehow make it to the knockout rounds and earn ourself a big paycheck because the club can't even afford to let me get a better coaching badge which has been restricting me to get a better job.
MAY 2020
Really good month here followed up by a solid win over Jeonbuk Hyundai but is that match enough to take us through to the knockout stage?
ARE WE THROUGH TO THE AFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT STAGE?!
Sadly not as Guangzhou Evergrande edge us out by their highly superior goal difference. Obviously, there is a huge gap in quality between these two teams and they do thoroughly deserve to advance to the latter stages but for a team like them, it shouldn't come down to goal difference and I'm very proud of ourselves showing we can go toe-to-toe with big Asian teams.
OLYMPIC GAMES GROUP DRAW
We've been drawn in a tough group with Brazil and Spain U23s and it is going to be highly unlikely we'll make it out of this group, especially due to the fact that the Olympic rules allow 3 over 23 players to compete meaning Matt Eskins could be up against the likes of Neymar, Coutinho, de Gea and Isco. Even Iran U23s could be a challenge as we're ranked a measly 82 in the world compared to Iran who is ranked 27th.

On the positive side, we've moved up one spot, but on the negative side we're now 4 points behind the league leaders.

2 wins out of 3 but a bit disappointed with the first game. Honestly, I think we're going to have to adjust our tactic since I thought making the pitch dimensions narrow would suit our wingerless formation but it has completely backfired and we can't be dropping points against easy teams at home and definitely can't be relying on away games for our points.

We are currently 2nd with a game in hand but Siswanto has got to watch out with his yellow cards this season as he's nearly topping the tally for most yellows.
TRANSFERS IN
We've managed to get Ilija Spasojevic, who is part Serbian but represents Indonesia on a free transfers. Good coup for the club as we can get a foreign left-back since our first choice has gotten injured and there is little to none half decent Indonesian left-backs (half of the horrible choices can't even play naturally in the position!).
Sinawo Topi is not a natural left-back but can easily be trained to become accomplished there and I find he's a good addition to our squad as I'm very content with this decision.
TRANSFERS OUT
We're saying goodbye to Matias Conti who is making way for our new Indonesian striker.
100th BORNEO FC MATCH
It's a special day is at is our 100th competitive match as Borneo FC. It's a shame Alfarizi couldn't convert the 88th minute penalty which would have won us the game on this milestone day.
SOUTH AFRICA U23S RESIGNATION
It's time to say goodbye to the youngsters of the South Africa U23s as our manager has decided to resign following our 3rd place in the group stage of the Olympic Games. I will always remember them as the first international team I've managed and it will undoubtedly teach me new lessons as we apply for a new international job which is the China U23s which would be an interesting job to take over. Since we're already touching on the topic of jobs, just wanted to mention that I'm heavily thinking about a move to Johor DT in Malaysia as their manager's contract expires at the end of our season and they recently came runner-up in the league after they've been winning it since 2014. They've got secure finances and this could be a stepping stone for us to get a better job. We would end up in the AFC Cup and not AFC Champions League but I believe that would give us a chance to win another continential competition which is something I'd love to have on our resume as we rebuild that club. This is all IF they don't extend his contract and we get the job.
JULY 2020
Unfortunately, we started off the month with a loss to Persija who seem to be real contenders for the title now but we made up for it with a league win over the over title contender, Barito Putera, which was a turning match for us following a disheartening draw against Madura United where Alfarizi failed to convert an 88th minute penalty. Next month is one of the biggest of the season as we have 7 league matches while we have to recover from a 2-1 deficit against PSM in the Piala Indonesia. There will be a quiet month to follow that as there are only 2 league games in September, although there could be Piala Indoneisa matches. During the international break, the China U23s will be starting their bid in the AFC World Cup Qualifying Final Stage as they compete in Group B.

We're in an improved position as we are only 1 and 2 points behind Barito Putera and Persija, respectively. You can also see the rise of Gilang Alfarizi's assist tally this season as he currently sits 3rd for most assists.

A very impressive month for us as we have gone unbeaten. We start off with a clean 2-0 win in the league followed by a 6-2 thrashing in the 2nd leg of the Piala Indonesia 2nd Round. We then have 2 consecutive wins with an impressive 3-0 win over Bali United. Then next 3 games consisted of Denilson solely getting our goals as we recorded two 1-1 draws and a close 1-0 win. Our 3-1 win ended with a brace from Denilson and someone else finally getting a goal as we record another win in the league at PSIS' expense.
LEAGUE TABLE
We're in the lead as we attempt to defend our league title while Alfarizi is having a very good shot at the Golden Boot as well as the league's top player and getting the most assists. One interesting thing to note is that our goalkeeper is tied first for clean sheets.
AUGUST MANAGER OF THE MONTH
Another honour for the trophy cabinet as we sweep manager of the month for August and we've now had 3 manager of the months while in Indonesia.
SEPTEMBER 2020
We've had a less packed and shorter month but we haven't done well due to the fewer matches being played. We did start off the month with a win to let us advance to the Piala Indonesia 4th round but following our crazy 4-4 draw in the league, we succumbed to a 1-0 loss against Persib. We then failed to score a goal for the 2nd consecutive game as a draw in the 2nd leg against Persib knocked out of the Piala Indonesia.
LEAGUE TABLE
Luckily we're still leading the table after some horrendous form but we have got to improve it if we want to win the league. Since it is a short month, there isn't much change to report on in player statistics but Alfarizi is standing out like usual.

We start off the month with a heartbreaking loss to Persib despite gettijng 3 goals. We follow it up with a 3-1 win over Semeru and a 2-2 draw against Arema. We again suffer another close high-goal heartbreaking loss as we fell to a 4-3 defeat away from home against PSS. The month ended off positively as we ended our horrible home form with a 2-1 win over Persipura.
LEAGUE TABLE
Luckily after a month of disappointing form, we are still in the title race and are only 1 point behind Barito Putera. They do have a game in hand but we play them in the 2nd last league game of the season. In terms of stats, Gilang Alfarizi is leading the Golden Boot race while Denilson is still in the race to win it. Alfarizi has also got an amazing tally of 12 league assists which shows how good he has been this season.

NOVEMBER 2020
We revived our league title chase with 2 clean sheets in a row getting us 1-0 and 3-0 wins followed up by a 2-1 win. We then played Barito Pureta but lost to them in a crazy tight match 3-2 where we joked such an easy lead.
LEAGUE TABLE
This leaves the title in Semen Padang's hands, a team who had not been leading at all this season and was only 5th last month. This shows how much the tide can turn in sports but if we got a good result and Semen Padang's match goes our away, we could somehow run away with the league title. Fingers crossed.

WE WON! Unbelievable scenes as an 88th minute goal by Madura United gave us the chance to overtake Semen and we did so by battling through a 2-1 win where a comeback was possibly lingering after a goal from Mojokerto Putra in stoppage time, but we held out for the rest of the match and we take home the league title. It was a 1 point difference again this year as we still won against the late surging Semen Padang despite having a weaker goal difference. This year's league season was something to cherish for Indonesian fans and the fans of the other teams will be disappointed they couldn't take advantage of this open title race.
AUSTRALIAN HALL OF FAME
We have now staked our claim as one of Australia's top managers during our first job. Now it's time to rise up that ladder as we're looking around for our next job.

The Fans' Player Of The Season award was a very tough battle between two of our best strikers, Denilson and Gilang Alfarizi. Alfarizi took a whopping 47% of the fans' vote while let's not forget that Denilson got a very high amount too as he got 37% of their vote. These two wonderful players took out 84% of the fans' votes combined while hot prospect Wayan Hidayat came 3rd with 10% of the vote going to him. There is some consolation for Wayan as he won the "Goal Of The Season" with his strike against Semen Padang, the league runner-up. There was also consolation for Denilson who came runner-up in the tightly fought Fans' Player Of The Season as he took out the Signing Of The Season award. Following nearly more than half of the fans' votes in the Fans' Player Of The Season, Alfarizi who also won the Liga 1 Young Player Of The Season as well as finishing runner-up in both the Liga 1 Golden Boot and the Liga 1 Player Of The Season took out the Young Player Of The Season Award.
SEASON REVIEW
It was a great season for us as we won the Piala Super Cup and Liga 1 titles as well as nearly making the AFC Champions League knockout stage and beating the eventual finalist, Jeonbuk Hyundai who also won the top Korean division.

We came 2nd in the manager of the year award which is an improvement from our 3rd position that we attained last season.

Gilang Alfarizi expectedly took out the top young player award as he came millimetres off beating his own teammate in the top player award.
CONTRACT ULTIMATUM
Due to the decision, we made about resigning at the end of the season, the board have tried to counter that decision by proposing talks.
CONTRACT DECISION
As much as I love the time I've had at Borneo FC, I felt it was time to step down if we were going to progress anywhere in our career. We definitely built a reptuation and showed our natural managerial quality, but with our finances in a debt of over 1 million and the board consistently unwilling to fund a coaching course for me, I felt it's time to go somewhere else in Asia where we can get a new coaching license. The reputation we've gained at my time at Borneo FC would've been an improvement on the team that I took over in 2018 but without a coaching badge this team is as good as any other team that would want me. Although we may not be making a big step up in the managerial ladder, I do believe this could be a good stepping stone to a job hopefully at one of Matt's boyhood club, Perth Glory in the A-League soon. After that we would move on to the Asian giants, maybe have a stint in South Africa and move on to South America and North America before battling it out in Europe's biggest leagues.

Following our resignation, here is an update on our profile, history and managerial attributes. We've only attained one coaching badge, the National C License, but we already have a 1 1/2* reputation. Following a 2 and half year stint at Borneo FC and the South Africa U-23s, we've become fluent in Bahasa Indonesian which will be useful for our next job.
NEW TEAM
Ever since I heard that there is potentially a lot of jobs opening up at the end of the season in Malaysia due to the fact that many of the managers' contracts were expiring, I was quick to pounce on which team I should join. Johor DT was definitely a team I was looking at since Selangor started to win the league and I thought it would be nice to try and get them back to winning ways until the club decided to extend their manager's contract. This is when I also started looking at other teams and there was another that did pretty well, but Selangor were the defending champions and looked like it would be better for my career. During the interviews, there was also a noticeable difference between Selangor and the other team's budgets as Selangor's transfer budget was nearly a million pounds which gave me the chance to make some transfers for the team as we could not let Johor DT win that title again.
