Expectations are laid down!
Today marks the first day on the job for Duisburg's new manager, Jack Higgins.
After meeting with the Chairman, Board, Coaching Team and Players, Higgins has committed to keeping Duisburg out of the drop zone in the 2.Bundesliga and to reaching the third round of the prestigous DFB-Pokal. As a result, the unknown manager has been allocated a transfer budget of £55.65K with £17.36K p/w available for wages.
With the team report confirming a lack of depth in midfield, who will Jack sign first to improve the team?

Unrest from within at Duisburg?
Rumours circulating the recent arrival of Ronny Marcos, suggest unrest within the squad from current left wing-back Seo Young-Jae, who has spoken with Duisburg manager Jack Higgins to express his concern that his place in the team is under threat.
Both players are fantastic options for the German team, but with Jack challenging Young-Jae to work hard enough in training to be mentioned by assistant manager Darius Scholtysik in his monthly training report, it will be interesting to see how both players rotate within the starting XI.

Duisberg go down to hard-working Die Viktorianer
MSV Duisburg's players and fans came away highly disappointed from their 1-0 defeat at the hands of FC Viktoria Koln 1904.
Target man Nicolas Hebisch gave Viktoria Koln the lead with a close range volley in the 52nd minute.
In a low-key affair, the fixture was marred by a succession of fouls from Duisburg that prevented the match from ever truly getting into a rhythm.
Duisburg attempted 20 shots goalward, with none of them being enough to beat the keeper.

2. Bundesliga promotion odds from Betclic
The bookmakers reckon promotion is unlikely this season for Duisburg without significant changes to the first team squad and this is reflected by the 150-1 preseason odds. A mid table finish is considered a far more realistic target for the club, who are predicted to finish 12th.
Higgins has expressed public disapproval in the clubs pre-seasons odds, instead insisting that his team have the strength and determination to push for a spot in the playoffs.
