Is a squad full of Wonderkids able do a decent season on the Premier League?

I started an online Career with a friend, I chose Southampton and he chose West Ham (It's my first time online and on a FM forum)

We brought some promises and made a decent league. I finished 6th and he ended 7th but he had a bit more luck and went further in the cups.

The problem was that the save got corrupted and we had to go back several months ago and things changed drastically.

He had signed Salomon Rondón who was a beast, scored 39 goals in 36 games with a 4312 and I was unable to bring Lukaku (for some reason he didn't want to come this time) and I had to make do with Charlie Austin.

He finished 3rd in the Premier League, qualifying for the Champions League twice, since he also won the UEFA League against Manchester United and then the Super Cup against Real Madrid.

While me, on the other hand, barely managed to finish eight and entered UEFA League through the window.

On top of that, PSG bought Van Dijk for 100M, Bayern bought Tadic (best player) for 50M and OM got Boufal for 30M without me having any other option than to let them go (either player's request or board's decision).

I don't complain about the amounts. I was able to bring Guidetti, Donnaruma, Kimpembe/Jorge Meré and Federico Chiesa with that money

Also Aaron Martin, Thiao Maia, Lozano, Maguire and Palencia came almost for nothing..

But the team I have is very young (4321 - Donnaruma, Targett, Kimpembe, Mere/Maguire, Cedric, Romeu/Maia, Hojberg, WardProse, Lozano, Redmond, Guidetti) and it's not performing very well. It's hard for me to win, Lately I tied against Burnley, Crystal Palace and Red Star for the Europe qualifiers all playing home.

And since my friend is on the Champions League, he sold many regular players very expensive and brought Mbappe on loan, Coutinho who had break up with Klopp, Dani Alves, Salah and Oblak because the board gave him a ton of money.

My question is: can you have a good/decent season with a really young squad of wonderkids or will I have to endure the whole season while he demolishes rivals?
