Help needed on Contracts

I'm currently playing a on league campaign - have risen to the dizzy heights of NP league Div one

I am now however unable to coffer any players a contract with a contract length - all I can offer if an appearance fee - any ideas why?

It'll be as they're part time players, not full time. This will change as you move up the leagues and the players become professional.

ahh ok - was a little odd as in the leagues I've just come through I was able to offer a contract length

I've the same in my current save in N Ireland.

It's good because you don't get stuck paying a player on a high contract for a few years who isn't performing, you're able to just release them at no cost. The bad is that obviously any other club can just come in and take them off you whenever they feel like it.
