Rikard Norling Announces AIK Departure
Shocking news today has broken from the Friends Arena as longstanding Club & Fan favourite Rikard Norling today announced his departure from AIK Solna with immediate effect.
Norling who was enjoying his 2nd spell as Manager with AIK previously led the Club to the Allsvenskan title in 2018 with a joint record amount of 67 points, matching the feat by Malmo FF back in 2010. He had also previously managed the Club in 2004 and spending 4 years at the helm, earning them a place in the Top Division by winning the Swedish Superettan in 2005, they finished 9 points clear of the 2nd place team and would finish the season with just 4 League defeats.
AIK finished 4th in the previous campaign 4 points behind eventual winners Djurgardens IF and were 2nd behind Malmo in the 2017 season. It is believed that Norling has chosen to step away from Football for the time being to focus on family life and it appears now the quest is on to find the next Manager. No doubt the Gnaget fans will be pondering the future of their beloved Club and who will be next to take over.
We will follow this story closely and will expect some form of information regarding an appointment in the coming days.

Unknown Manager Appointed at AIK Solna
It was a day that turned from excitement and anticipation to outright confusion as AIK Solna announced the appointment of their new Manager, Luke Ryan, to the world. However fans have been quick to question the decision made by Club Chairman Robert Falck, wondering whether this is the best decision going forward & what the future will hold. The Englishman joins the Club on a 2 Year Deal until November 2021 and will have the eyes of the world on him for the coming season to see just what exactly he has in store for AIK.
The Chairman, Mr Falck, spoke with Media alongside his new Appointment this afternoon and stated "We are delighted to welcome Mr Ryan to this great Football Club. It was with a heavy heart that we accepted the resignation of Rikard Norling last week and we have had to act quickly to put ourselves in a favourable position for the upcoming season." The Chairman would then go on to answer concerns on the nature of the appointement, "Many fans and players right now are going to be taken aback by this decision but this is not something we have done just to garner media attention. We had lengthy discussions with Mr Ryan over the past 7 days and we are very excited at what a young prospect he could be in the management scene."
Mr Ryan, who comes from Leicester in the United Kingdom, is a virtual unknown with a small Amateur League playing background. He suffered a career ending knee injury back in 2014 and has been working towards a managerial career, working with local youth teams and Sunday League Clubs for the last 5 years but he has now been given possibly the biggest opportunity of his career with this shock appointment.
When asked by the media his thoughts he simply stated "This is a dream come true, in fact I'm not convinced I have even actually woke up yet. To be given this opportunity is nothing but special and I will work with 100% confidence & resolution in my method and philosphy. The Club have backed me to do well and I have their trust, I believe in their ideals to develop Youth and creating an attacking & attractive footballing side, I hope the fans can show patience & I vow to give this job my all."
The season is fast approacing with pre-season on the horizon and the begining of the Svenska Cup Group Stage next month. Mr Ryan will be hoping to assess his squad and make the needed additions if possible, this will be an interesting time in Swedish Football.

So it was time to enter the world of Football Management, I was under pressure to perform at this Club with my unknown state and had expectations to live up to from the Chairmain. AIK are expected to challenge for European Qualification this term, the Title has not been seen as a priority but I think that there is opportunity for us to do so if the players are motivated correctly. The Club want me to build the team through Youth and Home Grown players, to avoid signing players over 30 years old and creative an attractive footballing side.
The opening month of January was quite short, I was given the opportunity to get an overview of the Club and see what exactly the team needs. It is evident the squad is aging in key areas and that the strength in depth is quite low, with money not exactly forthcoming it will be important for the Club to build and mould its current talent pool. We do have a Transfer Budget of £800,000 and it will probably need to be invested in one area, most likely a striker or goalkeeper by current standings.
As you can see from the screen above this is what I currently have to work with, there is some potential within the ranks but the key players are getting older now. We have a decent blend of youth and experience on the other hand, players like Sebastian Larsson who of course has graced the Premier League is probably seen as the main man. He no doubt has very good ability even in his golden years in a League like this, specifically in his set-plays.
Our Strikers are mainly Target Men with Henok Goitom & Kolbeinn Sigthorsson however I have made my first signing by bringing in a former AIK player Christian Kouakou. This player has been very good for me in the past and I hoping my small investment in resigning him will add a bit more dimension to the attacking line, for now though Sigthorsson will be the main striker going forward.
Going into the end of January the Pre-Season Fixtures were about to begin plus we had the first Group Stages Matches in the Svenska Cup to prepare for as well. I was looking to start off my Managerial Career with a boost from good performances & was looking forward to seeing what exactly the squad had to offer. The fixtures are as follows:-

Pre-Season Friendly
vs. JaSP (Won 2-0)
AIK made a comfortable start to their pre-season campaign with victory over JaSP. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson did the damage on the day scoring 2 towering headers to give his side an easy victory.

vs. IFK Helsingfors (Won 3-0)
AIK continued their tour of Finland with another comfortable performance away Helsingfors. Ironically enough it was young Finnish Winger Saku Ylatupa who stole the headlines on the day bagging an impressive brace in his home nation. Nabil Bahoui rounded off proceedings with a well placed strike to continue the winning momentum for Mr Ryan's team.

vs. KuPS (Won 5-0)
The friendlies were completed in style for the month of February as AIK left Finland with a thunderous victory at KuPS. Kolbein Sigthorsson led the line for AIK today scoring a hat-trick whilst a Seb Larsson penalty and Enoch Kofi Adu strike rounded off an impressive display, AIK boss Luke Ryan will be hoping to ride this wave of momentum in the Svenska Cup.

vs. Umea FC (Won 3-0)
AIK Manager Luke Ryan made his professional debut on the sideline today and coached his side to a comfortable victory at Friends Arena. Umea FC visted with hope of causing an upset but no such event took place as the home side won convincingly. It was Estonian Center Back Karol Mets who stole the show with 2 fantastic headers from set-plays that sent the AIK fans into raptures, midfielder Ebenezer Ofori rounded off the victory with a well placed finish & ultimately handing their new boss the perfect start.

vs. Degerfors IF (Won 2-0)
AIK all but booked their place in the knockout round of the Svenska Cup with a comfortable victory at Degerfors. Goals in each half from Saku Ylatupa & Nabil Bahoui were enough for the Allsvenska side to come away with the 3 points and continue a fine run of form early on for Mr Ryan's men.

So with one game remaining we are 2 points clear of our final opponent Falkenbergs FF, a draw at minimum would see us qualify for the Knockout Phase
So the journey has begun and it has been a bright start, however things are at the early stages and things will get tougher as the season goes forward. It was nice to see the side make a good start in the Svenska Cup, we played some good stuff and the height of the team seems to be proving very fruitful from set-plays, especially when you have good players who can deliver that all important cross.
Going forward I am hoping the team can continue to build on this momentum and play the type of football we demonstrated this month. I want to see the same kind of hunger each game and will endeavour to continue to push them improve, March will be an interesting month I'm sure.

So heading into March is was about keeping the performance levels up and building on the momentum from the previous months, I wanted that winning mentality in the team early so that when the League Campaign begins in April we are going into that challenge with confidence. The previous months performances were good but the team still needs time to adapt to my formation and style, something which we have been concentrating on in training.
The transfer situation remains the same, I am looking at try to bring in a goalkeeper before the window shuts but it is tricky at the moment finding the right player. However we must now focus on the fixtures for this month, we will conclude our Scandinavian Tour with visits to Denmark, Finland & Norway but firstly we have the importance of solidifying our qualification in the Svenska Cup. Here is how the month looks:-
Svenska Cup (A) - Falkenbergs FF - The final group game where a draw at the least will grant us qualification to the knockout phase

Svenska Cup Group 6
vs. Falkenbergs FF (Won 1-0)
A wonderful free kick from Sebastian Larsson was enough for AIK to seal Svenska Cup Qualification at Falkenbergs. It was far from a good performance by the away side who were quite fortunate to leave with the points. The home side were creating the better chances and missing the opportunities to make the Allsvenskan side sweat, however in the 34th minute Larsson curled a fantastic effort into the far corner to put AIK in control. Tobias Englund thought he had salvaged a point for the home side with an 86th minute header however replays showed he was just offside from the free kick & AIK managed to hold on for victory.
Pre-Season Friendly
vs. Viborg FF (Won 2-0)
AIK resumed their winning ways in Denmark with a comfortable win at Viborg. Goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half from Saku Ylatupa & Nabil Bahoui proved the difference on the day, however it could of been much more as the Swedish side missed some glorious chances in the second period.
Svenska Cup Quarter Final
vs. IFK Norrkoping (Drew 0-0 - AIK Win 6-5 on Penalties)
In a tense affair at Friends Arena it took penalties to separate the two Allsvenskan sides as AIK booked their place in the Semi Finals. It was a back and fourth contest with both sides showing attacking intent, however both defences held strong throughout 120 minutes of football and ultimately the lottery of penalties was required to crown a winner. A 5-5 it went into a sudden death shootout and this was where nerves broke as Andreas Blomqvist slid his effort wide allowing AIK full back Robert Lundstrom to step up & send his side through.
Svenska Cup Semi Final
vs. Kalmar FF (Won 2-1)
Saku Ylatupa was the hero for AIK today as they secured a place in the Svenska Cup Final in extra time. It was a tremendous game with both sides creating a glut of chances but ultimately AIK were the more clinical in the end. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson opened the scorning for the away side after being put clear and slotting his strike under the charging goalkeeper, however Kalmar would respond with a fine header from Piotr Johansson and the game would remain level until extra time.
With 107 minutes of the clock AIK found the winner as a Sebastian Larsson corner was headed toward goal by Sigthorsson, the keeper managed to block the shot but it fell to Ylatupa who buried the rebound and sent Ryan's men to the Final for the first time under his reign.
Pre-Season Friendly
vs. Degerfors IF (Won 2-0)
AIK completed their pre-season campaign with victory at Degerfors, they had originally beat the same side in the Svenska Cup back in February. Stefan Silva and Per Karlsson bagged the goals on the day which gave the away side victory. With the friendlies now complete the team will be looking to take this winning momentum into the League Campaign.

So we end March in a good position with important victories in the Svenska Cup, to reach a Cup Final in my first few months in charge will help me build my reputation with the Fans and the Club. We played some good football and I think we can go into April looking to cause some problems for teams in the League, I will make sure the team are training hard and working toward improving their ability, we still need to work on the tactics.
It was great to see a few young players impressing for us this month, the standout was Saku Ylatupa who is proving a real threat on the wings and by bagging the winning goal against Kalmar. We now head into April as the League is about to begin, this will be the test for us now to see just how much we have improved and how far we can go, exciting times ahead hopefully!

The time had come for the beginning of the Allsvenskan season, we headed into this campaign as 4th favourites to win the League Title. This month saw 6 huge fixtures ahead of us including two huge Derby encounters against Goteborg & Djurgardens, we also have the task of facing League Favourites Malmo so this month really is a way of being thrown in at the deep end. Here are the fixtures for this month in full detail:-
Allsvenskan - IK Sirius (A) - The season begins away at Sirius who aren't expected to pull up any trees this campaign
Allsvenskan - Kalmar FF (H) - Next up is the first Home fixture of the season against plucky Kalmar
Allsvenskan - IF Elfsborg (A) - We then travel to Elfsborg who always pose a tough opponent
Allsvenskan - Malmo FF (H) - Back at Friends Arena the Title favourites are in town and will be looking to roll us over

vs. IK Sirius (Won 1-0)
AIK made the perfect start to the League Campaign with an edgy victory away at Sirius, this was the first professional league game for new appointed boss Luke Ryan. Enoch Kofi Adu bagged an early goal in the first half with a fine 25 yard drive past the goalkeeper, this goal would prove to be enough for the 3 points but the away side could be seen as fortunate. Sirius pressed all game and almost forced an equalizer late on but the AIK goalkeeper held firm & AIK saw the game out.

vs. Kalmar FF (Won 2-1)
Mr Ryan's first League game in charge at Friends Arena ended in victory as goals in each half from Saku Ylatupa and a wonderstrike from Sebastian Larsson earned the points. Piotr Johansson had originally given the away side a shock lead but AIK showed their resolve and went on to win the game.

vs. IF Elfsborg (Drew 2-2)
AIK fans were left frustrated as their side threw away the lead twice away at Elfsborg. Nabil Bahoui had bagged a brace in the game which looked to be enough to win, however Elfsborg continue to prove to be thorn in the side of AIK as they rescued a point late into added time. Samuel Holmen scored the first for the away side after Bahoui's initial strike and then in the 91st minute Deniz Hummet was not closed down and his strike flashed past the AIK stopper to cancel out Bahoui's second 20 minutes earlier.

vs. Malmo FF (Won 1-0)
A fantastic defensive display allowed AIK to steal all the points against League Title hopefulls Malmo at Friends Arena. The away side came with attacking intent from the off and were challenging the AIK backline with relentless crossing early on, however AIK held firm and Per Karlsson managed to capitalize on poor misjudgment from the Malmo keeper to send the ball into an empty net just before half time.
Malmo pressed and tried to break through but AIK showed their resolve and held onto a vital early victory in this season.

vs. IFK Goteborg (Won 3-1)
AIK produced a superb display to see offer fierce rivals Goteborg at Friends Arena this afternoon. In a fixture dubbed locally as the "Swedish El Clasico" it ws clear to see what exactly this fixture meant to the fans, the home fans were the ones leaving with beaming smiles though as AIK dominated from minute one. Karol Mets & Kolbeinn Sigthorsson both scored before half time to given AIK a comfortable lead, in the second half Saku Ylatupa scored a fine goal to make the lead evening more commanding.
August Erlingmark found a consolation with 10 minutes remaining prodding a corner home but this was the best it got for the away side on this day.

vs. Djurgardens IF (Won 2-1)
AIK rounded off a fantastic start to the season with another huge victory, this time away at Djurgardens in the Tvilling Derby. Nabil Bahoui starred again for AIK bagging 2 fantastic headers in the second half, the home side scored with 20 minutes remaining through Edward Chilufya Jr and thought they had knicked a point 5 minutes later when a towering header was nodded beyond the AIK goalkeeper. However to the relief of the AIK players and fans the linesmans flag was up and the blushes were spared, AIK held out for another massive win.

What a fantastic start to the season this month proved to be, to claim massive victories against Malmo & our Derby rivals really boosted the squads confidence and hopefully will set us in good stead for the rest of the campaign. The draw at Elfsborg was disappointing as I thought we had done enough to win the game, however we shut off at the vital moment which ultimately cost us 2 points.
All in all though it was a very good month and the players stood out & made themselves known, especially Nabil Bahoui who bagged 4 goals in 6 games this month. We end April at the top of the table and hopefully that is where we will be once this is all over.

Enterting into May we are holding top spot after a good opening month in the Allsvenskan, we are entering a run of fixtures now that can hopefully allow us to build on that winning momentum. We have 6 league games to contend with this month and then we round it all off with a chance to win our first piece of silverware, the Svenska Cup Final against Djurgardens. It has been 11 years since AIK last lifted the Svenska Cup, they have won this trophy 8 times in their history, second only to Malmo and this will be a massive opportunity for their new manager to impress his doubters. Lets have a look at the fixtures this month:-
Allsvenskan - IFK Norrkoping (A) - We travel to Norrkoping looking to maintain our positive start
Allsvenskan - Helsingborgs IF (H) - Next up Helsingborgs visit Friends Arena bottom of the league after a poor start
Allsvenskan - Varbergs BoIS (H) - Varbergs travel to us in the following game after a decent start to their campaign
Allsvenskan - Falkenbergs FF (A) - We're on the road to Falkenbergs next who lay in middle table currently

vs. IFK Norrkoping (Won 2-1)
AIK continued their fine form making it 7 games unbeaten in the Allsvenskan with a late win at Norrkoping. The game had started well for the away side as Enoch Kofi Adu poked home a corner in the 22nd minute to make relentless AIK pressure pay. It looked to be enough to give AIK the lead at the interval but the Gnaget defence fell asleep in added time as Sead Haksabanovic drove a low shot past Jakob Haugaard.
It was appearing to be a frustrating day for the away side until with 10 minutes to go rising star Saku Ylatupa guide a fine effort into the top corner to seal another big win for his team.

vs. Helsingborgs IF (Won 1-0)
A late Henok Goitom penalty was enough for AIK to scrape past struggling Helsingborgs at Friends Arena this afternoon. AIK came into the game expecting to roll over the side bottom of the pile but it was proving a frustrating affair. Despite a glut of chances the away sides resolve was holding firm until in the 83rd minute Enoch Kofi Adu was brought down in the box and up stepped experienced striker Henok Goitom who stroked the ball home to claim a vital 3 points.

vs, Varbergs BoIS (Won 1-0)
Kolbeinn Sigthorsson made a triumphant return to the starting line up bagging the winning goal against Varbergs. Despite a solid defensive display it was again proving a frustrating outing in front of goal for the home side, Sigthorsson was brought into the fray in the second period and latched onto a great ball from Saku Ylatupa to drive the ball under the Varbergs stopper and claim another victory for AIK under their new boss.

vs. Falkenbergs FF (Drew 1-1)
AIK boss Luke Ryan was left frustrated on the touchline as his side were unable to claim victory away to Falkenbergs. The away side were in front just before half time as Kolbeinn Sigthorsson added to his scoring tally with a well placed strike, chances were coming thick and fast but there was no end product, this ultimately came to cost AIK the 3 points. The defensive line pushed far too up and a long ball over the top sent Kwame Kizito through on goal, the in form striker made no mistake and slotted the ball home to level the game with 10 minutes to go.
The drama was far from over however as AIK pushed for a winner and they were given their chance, a push in the box on Saku Ylatupa earned them an 89th minute penalty. Up stepped Sebastian Larsson but he cracked his spot kick against the post and the points were shared.

vs. Ostersunds FK (Drew 0-0)
AIK were again frustrated in front of goal as they were held to a goalless draw with 4th place Ostersunds. The draw meant that Hammarby have now leap frogged AIK to the top of the Allsvenskan and with their clash coming up in the next game it adds more importance at this early stage of the season. Chances were squandered by both teams and ultimately it was the defences that shined in this particular clash.

vs. Hammarby IF (Won 2-1)
AIK earned a huge a victory away at their fierce rivals Hammarby to reclaim top spot once more in the Allsvenskan. Hammarby dominated the first half but AIK held strong and were able to regroup at the break, 5 minutes into the second period a change of tactic paid dividends. Henok Goitom return to the side and found a hugely important goal to put the away side in front, with 14 minutes to go Saku Ylatupa again continued to impressed bagging a second goal which ultimately proved the winner.
Gustav Ludwigson pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go but AIK's defence held strong and they claimed a massive 3 points.
Svenska Cup Final
vs. Djurgardens IF
A fantastic display from AIK saw them win the Svenska Cup for the first time since 2009, it was wonderfully competitive contest and see's new AIK boss Luke Ryan earn his first ever piece of Silverware. The game started a furious pace with both sides battling for possesion and looking to find the opening goal, it would be Djurgardens who drew first blood however with 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Elliot Kack the scorer with a fantastic curling free kick from all of 25 yards.
AIK regrouped and came out into the second half with determination, they levelled the game with a thumping header from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and with this they grabbed the initiative. The game appeared to be heading to extra time but a wonderful header in the 85th minute from Per Karlsson sealed the victory and the silverware for AIK, a special afternoon for their players, fans and manager.
The victory also earns AIK a place in the Europa League for the following season, Ryan's men will be looking to try and compete on the European Stage now.
AIK celebrate the lifting of the Svenska Cup
Well, quite a month indeed this proved to be. We played very well in most of our fixtures and are still unbeaten so far this season, the big highlight of course is winning the Svenska Cup after a fantastic Final. Some of the league games were frustrating especially the draws, I think the team are still lacking a little bit in the attack third but we managed to get the wins when they were needed, especially against Hammarby at a crucial time.
Hopefully we can work on our attacking conversion and ultimately make some of our results look a bit more convincing, for now now though its all smiles.

Into June now and it is a much shorter month of football with the beginning of EURO 2020 taking the full attention of the football world, we have not been hit too hard by players going on international duty and with this being quieter period it will give some players a chance to get a needed rest. We enter June still top of the pile and have just the 2 fixtures to contend with, firstly we being against Mjallby whose current form sees them battling for survival before ending the month against BK Hacken who are currently on a small unbeaten run. Here are those fixtures:-

vs. Mjallby AIK (Won 4-2)
A four goal first half blitz inspired by Nabil Bahoui sent AIK on their way to their most comprehensive victory under the reign of boss Luke Ryan. Nabil Bahoui scored a superb 20 minute hat-trick which was capped by a wonderful 30 yard free kick curled into the top corner, Christian Kouakou also got himself off the mark with his first goal since returning to AIK at the beginning of the year. Mjallby found some resolve and tried to make AIK sweat as Erik Parsson and David Lofquist both scored headers to give the home side some form on consolation, despite this AIK showed great attacking intent which finally paid off.

vs. BK Hacken (Won 3-0)
AIK capped off June with a comfortable and dominant win over BK Hacken at Friends Arena. Christian Kouakou starred with an impressive brace whilst Nabil Bahoui also continued his fine scoring form, the game for Hacken was compounded 20 minutes from time as Erik Friberg was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Enoch Kofi Adu. A fine win for AIK who continue to push forward in their attempt to win the Allsvenskan Title.
Nabil Bahoui impressed this month bagging 4 goals in 2 games
June was short but sweet as we managed to continue our winning form, it was nice to score some more goals and make the performances look a bit more convincing. Nabil Bahoui was fantastic this month and it was great to Christian Kouakou finally break his goal scoring duck since coming back to us, overall I think he looked at his opportunity with Kolbeinn Sigthorsson being at the Euro's and has grabbed the bull by the horns.
Its nice to end the month again atop the Allsvenskan Table and we seem to be building a small gap between ourselves and our rivals, long may it continue.

Heading into July we look at a new type of challenge as the Europa League Qualifying Rounds commence, we have the opportunity to show our strengths on a bigger stage and hopefully build the foundation for our future in the competition. In the League the second round of match day fixtures begin and we will face the sides we have already played once again, we hold a 3 point gap over our fierce rivals Hammarby and will hope for them to slip up to inturn allow us to build a more comfortable lead at the top. The fixtures are as follows:-
Allsvenskan - Orebro SK (H) - Orebro visit Friends Arena to begin the month as they look to cause an upset
Allsvenskan - IK Sirius (H) - We remain at Home as the second round of match day fixtures commence, last time out we won 1-0
Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round 1st Leg - Viking FK (A) - The road to potential Europa League Group Stage qualification begins away to the Norweigen Cup holders
Allsvenskan - Kalmar FF (A) - Back to League action as we play Kalmar who are currently underperforming this season, We hold two 2-1 victories over our opponents

AIK completed the signing of Isak Pettersson from IFK Norrkoping for £700,000. The Swedish Goalkeeper has great potential to be a star for the Gnaget.

vs. Orebro SK (Won 2-0)
AIK maintained their 3 point lead at the top of the Allsvenskan with a comfortable win against Orebro at Friends Arena. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson returned from the EURO's on the back of a poor tournament for his home nation Iceland, he proved the difference on the day with a dominant aerial display and netting the opening goal from the penalty spot 7 minutes into the match. The second half remained the same for the home side and they doubled their lead in due time after a fine team goal ended in superb cross being converted by rising star Saku Ylatupa.

vs. IK Sirius (Won 3-1)
A late comeback spared the blushes of AIK as they earned a hard fought victory against struggling IK Sirius at Friends Arena. The away team took a shock lead on 25 minutes as the AIK defence was caught napping and Nihom Girmai struck a wonderful goal passed new signing Isak Pettersson, however 5 minutes before the break the away side were reduced to 10 men. Axel Bjornstrom who was already on a yellow pulled down Kolbeinn Sigthorsson who appeared through on goal and in doing so received his second yellow, this would be a turning point in the match.
AIK entered the second half fired up from their team talk and levelled with 10 minutes gone as Nabil Bahoui continued his fine scoring form. AIK then pushed for the winner but the 10 men were holding firm and continuing to frustrate, however in the 80th minute a silly foul on Sigthorsson in the area earned Ryan's men a spot kick, which Sigthorsson duely dispatched to send the home fans into raptures. Nabil Bahoui then rounded off proceedings and the comeback with a late header as we entered the final 2 minutes of the game, this was the 11th goal of the season for the winger who continues to shine.
Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round 1st Leg
vs. Viking FK (Won 3-0)
A fantastic second half display from AIK appears to have all but sealed their place in the next qualifying round of the Europa League. Per Karlsson opened the scoring just after the hour with a well placed header before 2 goals in 2 minutes from in form wingers Saku Ylatupa and Nabil Bahoui sealed an impressive first leg victory. The Swedish side now go into the second leg with a comfortable advantage and will hope their efforts in this fixture will be enough for them to claim safe passage to the next round.

vs. Kalmar FF (Drew 0-0)
A frustrating afternoon for AIK as they were held to a goalless outting away to 8th placed Kalmar, this was the first time in 7 games that AIK had not scored a goal. Kalmar were probably the better side on the day and AIK had new signing Isak Pettersson to thank as he pulled off two fantastic saves in the second half to keep the scores level, this result means Hammarby gain within in 1 point of the League Leaders now and the pressure really will be on for the remaining games.
Nabil Bahoui was suspended for this fixture due to an accumilation of yellow cards and it was fair to say Ryan's men definitely missed him today.
Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round 2nd Leg
vs. Viking FK (Won 2-1 - AIK Win 5-1 on aggregate)
Passage into the next round of the Europa League Qualifying Stages was confirmed as AIK came from behind to beat Viking at Friends Arena. AIK came into the game with a comfortable 3 goal lead from the first leg, however they were given an early scare as Einar Mathiesen struck home in the first 16 minutes to breathe some life into this tie. AIK were not at their best in the first half but managed to level just before the break, veteran striker Henok Goitom poked home to restore some relief to the Gnaget faithful.
The second half was a pretty cut and drawn affair, both sides seemed content that the result was not going to change but just we entered injury time AIK managed to find a winner. A lofted ball in from Sebastian Larsson saw Henok Goitom rise highest once more and bury another superb header, AIK will now look forward to see who they will face in the next round.
Nabil Bahoui continued to impress for AIK adding 3 goals to his season tally
An eventful month once again as we head into one of the busiest periods in the season, we showed some very good football again this month but despite that Hammarby are still breathing down our necks. It was a shame to drop points at Kalmar but with Nabil Bahoui being suspended the team just did not seem to be the same, in fairness we were very lucky to leave with a point, but on a positive note we are still unbeaten and things for now remain in our hands.
August will be a big month for us as no doubt the addition of Europa League Qualifiers and the Swedish Cup on top of the already full on Allsvenskan campaign will really test our resolve and hunger to win this Title. Hopefully players will continue to improve and it was nice to bring in a new Goalkeeper who already has shown glimpses of being a fantastic purchase.

We enter into what could be a defining period of the season as look to affirm our position and challenge in the Allsvenskan, plus the added responsibility of performing in the Europa League. The fixtures in the league could make or break us as we have to face some of closest rivals and some of the other Title hopefuls, if we can come away from these games without a defeat we may have done enough to call ourselves worthy champions but this will be the biggest test for the squad so far. vs. IF Elfsborg (Won 3-0)
A commanding display from AIK allowed them to see off the tricky Elfsborg at Friends Arena this afternoon, a 3 goal blitz in the first half was enough to secure a fine win. Henok Goitom opened the scoring with a powerful header with just 6 minutes played, 12 minutes later the lead was doubled as Nabil Bahoui found the scoresheet once again with a well placed finished. The scoring was rounded off 5 minutes before the interval as Sigthorsson stabbed home from 6 yards out after a corner landed at his feet on the back post, AIK continue to build towards winning the Allsvenskan and have now gone 18 games unbeaten.
Europa League 3rd Qualfying Round 1st Leg
vs. Rapid Wien (Won 2-0)
A confident display at Friends Arena from AIK put them in contention to qualify into the next round of the Europa League as they defeated Austrian Giants Rapid Wien. Goals from Saku Ylatupa and Henok Goitom in the first half were enough on the day for the Swedish outfit to establish an advantage for the second leg back in Austria. A resolute defensive display will also be pleasing to the Gnaget boss as his side have not conceded a crucial away goal, he will be hoping for more of the same.

AIK produced a resolute defensive display to claim a vital victory against Title rivals Malmo this afternoon. Going into the game AIK knew that Hammarby had won previously and that they needed to win in order remain on top of the pile, this fact clearly galvanized Ryan's men as they battled for a much deserved 3 points. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson was the hero on the day as he rose to meet a fantastic cross from Robert Lundstrom and thundered a header passed the Malmo stopper with 16 minutes played. The game was a back and forth affair with AIK producing the better chances, ultimately the Gnaget defence held firm and claimed a vital win at this stage of the season.
Europa League 3rd Qualfying Round 2nd Leg
vs. Rapid Wien (Won 7-1 - AIK Win on aggregate 9-1)
A simply emphatic all round performance from AIK saw the Swedish side earn a place in the next round of Europa League Qualifiers with some style. Midfielder Ebenezer Ofori took all the plaudits on the day bagging a sensational 4 goals, Henok Goitom and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson bagged a goal a piece to add to their impressive tally this season and the scoring for the away side was rounded off by Rasmus Lindkvists first goal of the season. Rapid managed a late goal through Nikola Dovedan but the damage was done long before and Ryan's men progress continues to build.

vs. IFK Goteborg (Drew 0-0)
AIK came into this fierce rival clash with hopes of building a lead at the top of the Allsvenskan however they were frustrated by a resolute Goteborg defence. Hammarby had dropped points at Elfsborg and AIK knew they could give themselves some breathing space at the top with a win, however it was not meant to be. Goteborg were out to frustrate and managed to hold the away side to a goalless performance, both sides had the opportunities to win the game but ultimately the spoils were shared.
Europa League 4th Qualfying Round 1st Leg
vs. FSV Mainz (Won 3-1)
AIK continue to show a fantastic amount of heart and never say die attitude as they battled back against German Bundesliga side in their 1st leg Europa League tie. The away side originally took the initiative as Nicolas Gonzalez finished off a well worked move to give the German side a crucial away goal, however little did they know the response their hosts would have to his goal. Two goals in the final 12 minutes of the first half swung the game back in AIK's favour as Ebenezer Ofori bagged his 5th Europa League goal in 2 games to level, followed by another superb Kolbeinn Sigthorsson strike a few minutes later to give the Swedish side the lead at the break
Henok Goitom added his sides third 5 minutes from the end of the game, rising highest to nod the ball home and give the Gnaget faithful a very enjoyable European night.

vs. Djurgardens IF (Won 4-1)
It was a day to remember for AIK fans as their side completed the league double over fierce rivals Djurgardens in the Tvilling Derby. Henok Goitom gave the home side the lead 7 minutes from time with a thunderous header from Sebastian Larsson's superb free kick, however just 2 minutes later the away side won their own free kick and responded in kind as Jesper Karlstrom headed in a leveller before the break. This did not dampen the spirits of the home side however as they came out for the second half with wind in their sails, a stunning 3 goals in 7 minutes powered the Gnaget on their way to a famous Derby Day victory.
Karol Mets restored his sides lead with another header this time from a Nabil Bahoui corner, a minute after the restart though AIK stole the ball and pounced, Ebenezer Ofori drove at the Djurgardens backline and slammed a fantastic 25 yard strike into the bottom corner. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson then rounded off the scoring after being put clean through on goal, the Icelandic forward kept his nerve and drilled the ball past the despairing keeper and in turn kept up his & his sides superb run of form this season.
Europa League 4th Qualfying Round 2nd Leg
vs. FSV Mainz (Won 2-1 - AIK Win 5-2 on aggregate)
It was a case of smash and grab for AIK as they earned an incredibly hard fought second leg victory away to German side Mainz. AIK entered the game with a 2 goal advantage but Mainz knew they had an away goal plus home advantage, it was easy to see in their approach they were going to go for the throat. However the Swedish side showed incredible defensive strength to hold off the home side and managed to steal an away goal just before half time to give themselves a much larger advantage, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson once again found the net with a well placed finished after Ebenezer Ofoi stole the ball in the midfield to set up the move.
The away side shocked the home faithful once more just after the restart as Sigthorsson double his tally with another fine finish, the German side fell asleep at the worst time and now knew they needed 5 goals in order to qualify. Mainz did manage to make some of their pressure pay as Jerry St. Juste poked in an effort from a low driven cross to restore a small amount of hope, despite this AIK left the pitch muddy and exhausted having facing an onslaught of 34 shots on goal but were victorious on a momumental day in their history and reign under boss Luke Ryan. They are officially in the Europa League Group Stages!
Svenska Cup 2nd Round
vs. Team TG FF (Won 3-0)
Defending Svenska Cup holders AIK made safe passage into the Group Stages with a convincing win away at Swedish minnows Team TG FF. A revamped AIK side with some fresh faces took the field and the opening goal came from striker Stefan Silva, who has not featured much this campaign, a fine finish with just 3 minutes played. A familiar face to Gnaget fans this season is Nabil Bahoui and he doubled his sides advantage 10 minutes later, another well placed finish to emphasise the confidence he is playing with right now.
The scoring was rounded off in added time as Rasmus Lindkvist buried his 2nd goal of the season after fine passing move set up the left back to finish the game in style.
Ebenezer Ofori came into his own this month bagging a sensational 6 goals
So after all our hard work to reach the Group Stages of the Europa League, this was our reward as we were drawn in a very tough group. The obvious favourites are going to be Manchester United, we are also alongside Belgian Champions Genk and Danish side FC Midtylland. We may be able to pit our wits against the other two sides in the group and cause a potential upset by reaching the Knockout Stages, however I am realistic this will be a completely new challenge for the team and we will have to work incredibly hard to qualify. We shall see what awaits us once the competition begins...
And breathe...wow what a month this was! Near perfect performances and some fantastic goals from our players too, it was a shame to draw with Goteborg but we have an opportunity next month to build some form of gap over Hammarby and Malmo if we can win our game in hand. Its crazy how close the League still is despite our run of form, it will of course come down to when we play Hammarby in my opinion just exactly where this League Title will end up!
It was great to earn a place in the Europa League Group Stages and it will be a hell of a challenge for the team, but still it is good experience for them to be involved. A big shout out to certain players again this month like KolbeinnS Sigthorsson who continues to score and of course Ebenezer Ofori who before this month was not really in my plans, he asked me for a chance to perform in the starting 11 and I'm glad I agreed to give him his chance, he has produced some fantastic football since coming in and the goals he has scored have been brilliant.
Here is hoping that September is just as positive and productive for us, by the end of that month I hope we can develop a clear picture of where the League is going!

With the League games dwindling away we have a great opportunity to solidify our place at the top of the Allsvenskan, we also have the excitement of the Europa League Group Stages getting underway and having the chance to show what our worth is on the European stage. We have just the 4 games in the League this month if we want to keep the pressure on those below us we have to keep performing and ultimately if we don't then they will take advantage. Lets have a look at this months games:-
Allsvenskan - Helsingborgs IF (A) - We travel to Helsingborgs who are propping up the table with the worst defence in the competition

vs. Helsingborgs IF (Won 2-1)
It was tough work but AIK managed to earn a huge victory against bottom of the League Helsingborgs. AIK came into the game with the pressure of knowing they must keep winning and they did not make the best of starts, Anthony van den Hurk capitalised on some poor marking to beat his man and slide the ball passed Isak Pettersson for a shock lead. Frustration showed on the Gnaget boss face but his mood changed just before half time, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson was the main man once more with a fine finish to level the scores at the break.
AIK came out for the second period determined and made their pressure with just an hour gone, it was Kolbeinn Sigthorsson again this time powering a header home to ultimately give Ryan's men an important victory.
Europa League Group C
vs. KRC Genk (Lost 2-1)
AIK tasted European disappointment as they were beaten at home against a tough Genk side, this was the first defeat AIK have suffered under their new boss Luke Ryan and it was a hard pill to swallow. The Belgian side were gifted the initiative in the 10th minute as VAR ruled Per Karlsson of intentionally handling the ball in the area, Patrik Hrosovsky slotted the resulting spot kick passed Isak Pettersson. After the break AIK seem to come out galvanized and were really beginning to trouble the away side, their pressure finally paid off as a superb cross from Sebastian Larsson was nodded home by Per Karlsson to level the game, no doubt the center back felt relieved for making amends.
However it would be Gnaget hearts that were to be broken as Genk grabbed an injury time winner, the goal coming from a poorly defended cross which was slotted home by young winger Joseph Paintsil. A cruel end to the game for AIK and their manager.

vs. Varbergs BoIS (Won 3-0)
AIK returned to winning ways back in domestic action as they swept aside relegation contenders Varbergs. Inspired wingers Saku Ylatupa and Nabil Bahoui scored a goal each to give the Champions Elect a comfortable lead at the interval, the result was then rounded off with another Kolbeinn Sigthorsson strike tipifying just how important these performances are to the club.

Another huge victory for AIK as they battled the plucky Ostersunds this afternoon, they had their star strike Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to thank once more as he buried his opportunity with just 4 minutes played. The result could have been much more convincing as chances went begging throughout the 90 minutes but the single goal proved enough as AIK finally created some breathing space at the top of the table

Back on home turf at Friends Arena AIK created a new Allsvenskan record by securing 20 wins in the League with a fine display against Falkenbergs. Saku Ylatupa scored the opening goal just 10 minutes played, latching onto a fine pass before slotting the ball under the goalkeeper. The result was then sealed just before half time as fellow winger Nabil Bahoui scored a fine header to solidify his importantance to this team and increase his chances of winning the golden boot award. Another important win for the Gnaget faithful and the Title appears to be on its way.
Kolbeinn Sigthorsson proved his worth this month with some vital goals
Finally we managed to give ourselves some breathing space at the top, Hammarby have faultered after some poor performances and ultimately a defeat to Malmo all but ended their title hopes. We thankfully have continued winning and seem to be holding off the relentless chase from Malmo in second place, we go into next month with 5 games remaining and we must keep the pressure on our nearest rival, a slip up now could make or break our season.
As for the Europa League is was disappointing to lose the game so late but we will learn from the experience, hopefully we can still upset the apple cart but their are much bigger tests on the horizon.

The final month of the Allsvenskan side is upon us and it is a defining time in my first season in charge of AIK, there are 15 points still available and Malmo are determined to take it to the final day, this is the time for the players to prove all their hard work has been worth it and to give these fans Title glory. The Europa League Group Stages also continue as we face our toughest test away to Manchester United, ultimately the League takes priority this month. Here are the months important fixtures:-

AIK had a European Night to remember with an emphatic victory in Denmark against FC Midtylland. Henok Goitom bagged a first half brace as he bullied the home sides defence, goals from Ebenezer Ofori and Nabil Bahoui in the second period rounded off a top display and rekindle some hope for the Swedish side in this competition.

A second half blitz sent AIK on their way to a hugely important win away at struggling Mjallby this afternoon. After a frustrating first half where the goals would just not go in for the away side, they found their rhythm in the second half and blew their opponents away. Saku Ylatupa opened the scoring with 11 minutes played in the second period before Kolbeinn Sigthorsson bagged an impressive 2 minute brace 15 minutes before the end to round off a big win for the Title hopefuls.

Despite being pegged back AIK remained on course to claim the Allsvenskan Title as they battled to a hard fought victory at Friends Arena. Nabil Bahoui kept his hat in the ring in the chase for the Golden Boot opening the scoring on the half hour mark, however Norrkoping were here to frustrate and managed to level in added time through Alexander Fransson. The home side came out fired up and went on to seal a vital 3 points as Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored once more before Ebenezer Ofori cracked a thunderous drive into the bottom corner to cap off another excellent win.

vs. Manchester United (Lost 4-1)
It was a night to forget for Ryan's men as they were demolished in the first 45 minutes at Old Trafford. The AIK Manager took full responsibility for the defeat after changing his system in order to try and frustrate the home side, ultimately gaps appeared and the goals were flowing. Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard, Rodrigo Bentacur and Daniel James all got themselves on the scoresheet before the break to crush any hope for the Swedish outfit.
AIK showed some fight in the second period as Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored a scant consolation, however the damage was well and truly done.

Back on home soil AIK managed to grabbed a vital late winner at struggling BK Hacken to keep their Title Dream on track. Eager to respond to the midweek Europa League defeat AIK hit another stubborn defence who were battling for their League survival, it was looking like an opportunity for Malmo to really make Ryan's men sweat but up stepped Henok Goitom. The towering striker managed to latch onto a hopeful cross and steer a powerful header home much to his fans & managers delight.
AIK now know that victory at Friends Arena against fierce local rivals Hammarby will seal them the Allsvenskan Title.

The Title will be decided on the final day as AIK were unable to break down their fierce rivals in a hot blooded Stockholm Derby. Both teams were battling with intensity, Hammarby fuelled by stopping their rivals from lifting the trophy whilst the home side desperate for crowning glory in front of their own fans. The best chances fell to AIK but they were unable to score the vital goal, a dubious VAR decision cut short wild celebrations near the end as Saku Ylatupa was harshly judged offside in what many thought was the winner.
AIK now know they have a 3 point gap over Malmo going into the final, Malmo hold the better goal difference and must win to keep the pressure on. A point will be enough but anything less could be disastrous at this stage of the season.

vs. Orebro SK (Won 3-0)
It all came down to this final day in the Allsvenskan, after a long hard season either AIK or Malmo would lift the trophy at the Full Time Whistle. To the delight and joy of Gnaget fans AIK produced a Champions display scoring 3 vital goals and ultimately winning the Allsvenskan in style! This game would also crown the amazing achievement of an unbeaten season for AIK as they saw off a valiant challenge from Malmo FF.
Ebenezer Ofori was the hero on the day bagging a brace to send AIK on their way before a late Nabil Bahoui strike put the icing on the cake in what has been an awe inspiring season.
On the Final day of the Allsvenskan AIK & Luke Ryan lifted the Allsvenskan Trophy in an Invincible Season
A fantastic sight at the end of turbulent season, we produce some great football and remained unbeaten earning an Invincible Title Winning Season. Malmo battled us all the way and we managed to win the games that mattered, the gap incredibly was still only 3 points but we did and our fans are more than happy.
Two AIK players shared the Golden Boot this season as Kolbeinn Sigthorsson & Nabil Bahoui bagged 15 goals each in our Title winning campaign
An incredible season is over and it has ended in perfect fashion with a League Title in my first season in charge at AIK, it was full of challenges and despite us having an Invincible Campaign we were still taken right to the wire by Malmo. The players were fantastic including our attacking line as they bagged an astonishing 64 goals in all competitions between all four of them, the season itself is still on going as we have the remaining Europa League Group fixtures to contend with in November but that competition seems a step too far for us at this stage.
Ultimately I am very proud of the teams efforts and achievements, the Board are extremely happy with my performance as I have earned the club the Title 4 years ahead of their originally proposed schedule and we also have the chance to compete in the Champions League as the qualifiers begin next year, another goal we achieved 3 years ahead of schedule, long may the positive vibes continue.
Next up we complete the Europa League Group Stage and see where we stand, if we are unable to move forward then we can rest and look back on a fantastic campaign regardless.

The season comes to an end this month officially as we look to complete our first experience in the Europa League with a big of pride, it is a step too far to expect the team to get out of this group but we can hopefully provide the fans with a good send off after a very successful domestic campaign. AIK were uninspiring as Manchester United rolled over the Swedish Champions with ease at Friends Arena. Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard both bagged a brace on the day to give the Group Favourites an easy victory on the road.

vs. KRC Genk (Lost 1-0)
Joseph Paintsil came back to haunt AIK once more scoring a stunning goal to seal a victory and qualification for the Belgian Champions. AIK battled but were unable to dent the home sides resolve and ultimately fell to a goal worthy of winning any game, Paintsil of course scored the late winner in the reverse fixture.
Europa League Group C
vs. FC Midtylland (Won 3-1)
It may have been an unsuccessful Europa League plight for AIK but they sent their fans off in style with victory in their final home game. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored the opening goal on 21 minutes before Karol Mets doubled the advantage 5 minutes before the interval. Carlinhos pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining to make it a tense ending but all pressure was relieved as Sebastian Larsson sealed the victory with a superb 30 yard free kick in the 87th minute.

So as expected really we didn't pull up any trees this season in the Europa League however we cannot really complain about our campaign overall, hopefully the experience will help the squad learn and build. We now can take the much needed rest before we look at another campaign, I want to assess the squad as a number of players are aging now in key areas and it is strongly emphasised by the board and fans they want the team built around youth.
We should have a better budget to work with in the next Transfer Window and be able to improve the squad in the right areas. As for now we can look back and be proud of how we played and what we did in my first season in charge of the club.

So its that time again, the preparation for another season of football and the rekindling of the big rivalries and battles for superiority. January & February are always about rebuilding the teams momemtum and looking to improve the existing depth of the team, we are mainly concentrating on the Svenska Cup during this period as we long to defend the first Trophy I won as manager of AIK. vs. Orgryte IS (Won 2-1)
AIK returned to action with victory as they experimented with a new system and some fresh faces, they claimed a narrow victory away to Orgryte. Nabil Bahoui scored the opening goal looking to pick up on his fine form from last season, the lead was then doubled by new defensive signing Joel Kabongo who powered home a header for a comfrotable led. Late on in the second half Orgryte were reduced to 10 men due to a really nasty challenge from Herman Sjogrell, however the home side did reduce the defecit Alessandro Bartoli capitalised on some sleepy defending.

AIK produced a commanding display in Denmark as they turned over hosts Aalborg this afternoon. Familiar faces were on the scoresheet once again as Kolbeinn Sigthorsson bagged a brace and Nabil Bahoui scored a fine goal, new signings Nils Froling and Tomas Palsson also bagged a goal each to round of a dominating display for the Swedish Champions.

vs. Slavia Praha (Drew 1-1)
AIK were held to a hard fought draw against the Czech Republic Champions as they continue to build on their pre-season preparations. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson opened the scoring for the home side after just 2 minutes in the perfect start, however the hosts responded just after the interval through a well timed run and finish from Diego Rico.

vs. Falkenbergs FF (Won 1-0)
A late winner from new signing Nils Froling sent AIK to opening day victory in the Svenska Cup. Chances were few and far between in this early season clash, it appeared that the Swedish Champions were going to leave frustrated, however they pushed in the final 5 minutes and Nils Froling controlled & struck a fine shot passed the helpless keeper to seal an important early victory for Ryan's men.

vs. Oskarshamns AIK (Won 3-0)
A comfortable display away at Swedish minnows Oskarshamns was tipified by another fine display from new forward Nils Froling. The young prospect bagged himself a brace to make 3 goals in the 2 games already for his new side, Nabil Bahoui completed the scoring in the final 20 minutes of the game and put AIK in a promising position to qualify from their Group into the knockout stages.

It was good opening couple of months and we are looking bright again, we have made some bright looking young signings and a couple of them have already impressed. Nils Froling looks a great buy to replace Saku Ylatupa who decided he wanted to move forward in his career, he bagged 3 goals in the Svenska Cup and looks like he can pose a real threat down the left flank, hopefully we can see more of the same.
We should be a good position to qualify now and if we can claim at least a point next month in the final match we definitely will make the knockout phase. All in all preparation looks good and the team is playing well, hopefully we can create the same buzz and momentum as last season. On another note a couple of Clubs came in to try and poach me during the break but I am not looking to move to a new club as of yet.
Leeds and Newcastle seemed keen to have me take over but I want to stay on and try to build something more for AIK, my ultimate goal is to get them into the UEFA Champions League Group Stages and maybe winning a few more League Titles along the way, we shall see what happens in the coming years.

Into the month of March now and we have the chance to increase the squad harmony and adapt to the tactics I want us to run with for the coming campaign. We have a couple of interesting friendlies to contend with this month and we also have the chance to move into the next stages of the Svenska Cup, a Trophy we won last season and that the board & fans are eager for us to retain. vs. Orebro SK (Won 2-0)
A fine all round display from reigning Svenska Cup holders AIK saw them book their place in the Quarter Finals of the competition at Orebro. The away side created a record amount of chances with a total of 41 shots on goal, the only thing disappointing for Ryan's men was that the scoreline was not more convincing. Ebenezer Ofori opened the scoring with 30 minutes gone with an already Goal of the Season contender before Nabil Bahoui scored a fine solo effort just after the hour for an impressive victory.

vs. IFK Goteborg (Won 2-0)
AIK booked their place in the Svenska Cup Semi Finals with a confident win over fierce rivals IFK Goteborg at Friends Arena. Nils Froling continued to write his way into Gnaget fans hearts as he scored a stunning opening goal straight from kick off, the momentum continued and the game was sealed just before half time. Nabil Bahoui operating on the right wing burst through into space and smashed a stunning strike passed the goalkeeper, the AIK winning momentum seems to have no signs of letting up.
Svenska Cup Semi Final
vs. Hammarby IF (Won 2-1)
AIK reached the Svenska Cup Final for the second season in a row as they battled to a hard fought victory against local rivals Hammarby. The home side were on top for the majority of the game and made their early pressure pay earning a 15th minute penalty, up stepped last seasons top scorer Kolbeinn Sigthorsson who stroked the ball home for the perfect start. After the interval the pressure continued and 5 minutes into the half the continually impressive Nils Froling scored a fine goal to double the advantage.
Hammarby rallied in the last 20 minutes looking for a way back and they found it from nothing, a clearance gone wrong fell to Aron Johannsson who struck a sweet 25 yard drive into the top corner to really put nerves in the home fans stomachs. Despite a late blitz AIK held firm and are finalists once again, they now have the chance to retain the Svenska Cup and no one can doubt they have fought hard to get there.

vs. RoPS (Won 7-1)
AIK completed their pre-season tour with an emphatic mauling away in Finland as they showed fantastic clinical prowess. Per Karlsson opened the scoring with a fine header, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored an impressive 4 goals and Nabil Bahoui also bagged himself a brace in what was an exhibition fixture in the end. The home side did manage to find a scant consolation through Elias Tainio but that was the only bright spot for the Veikkausliiga side.

What a way to start the opening month of the season, who would of thought we would be having 2 huge Derby games so early and to win them both to claim a place in the Svenska Cup Final makes it even sweeter. The players are adapting really well to the changes in the formation and the new additions continue to impress, everytime Nils Forling runs at the opposition defence you could easily believe he is going to score everytime.
The Board have been very happy with my performance lately and they have chosen to offer me a new contract after the attempts from other Clubs in February to poach me. Its great to see they are recognising my efforts and that I am looking to build something special here, next month the real action begins as the Allsvenskan starts once more.

Here we are once again as the Allsvenskan Campaign is set to begin and the pressure is on us to continue our form and ultimately retain our Title. The squad have looked good during pre-season and claimed some impressive victories in the Svenska Cup, another competition we are on course to win again. Allsvenskan - IF Elfsborg (A) - A tricky match against the always resiliant Elfsborg, a match that always proves a test
Allsvenskan - IK Brage (H) - Then at Friends Arena we play host to newly promoted Brage, the bookies favourite to finish bottom

vs. Orebro SK (Won 4-0)
AIK made he perfect start to the Allsvenskan Campaign with a comprehensive display away at Orebro, the defending Champions clearly wanted to lay down a marker for their rivals. Ebenezer Ofofi starred on the day with a first half brace including a superb long range drive, easily an early contender for goal of the season. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson opened his account for the season just before half time and new signing Tarique Fosu scored his first goal for the club to seal an impressive win 12 minutes from time.

vs. Djurgardens IF (Won 3-1)
It was a special day for Gnaget fans as their side travelled to fierce rivals Djurgardens and recorded a superb victory. Kolbein Sightorsson scored a double in the first period to send the visitors on their, the scoring was capped off by the ever influential Ebenezer Ofori just before half time, another superb strike by the midfielder. Djurgardens did manage a scant consolation in stoppage time but the game was over in the first 45, Emmanuel Banda the scorer from close range for the hosts.

vs. BK Hacken (Won 3-1)
AIK made it 3 wins out of 3 in the Allsvenskan with a come from behind victory against Hacken, the fixture highlighted by the fact that former AIK boss Rikard Norling is in charge at Hacken. It was the visitors who took a suprise lead after some poor marking allowed Gustag Nilsson to steal in front of his marker and slot the ball home, however this joy would be cut short as just 3 minutes late the hosts were level. Nils Froling introduced himself on the Allsvenskan stage picking up a fine pass over the top of the Hacken back line to slam the ball home, the young winger continues to show he could be the purchase of the season.
AIK were galvanized by the equaliser and would lead just 2 minutes later, Nabil Bahoui is never a player to give a chance from free kicks and he showed why whipping a superb effort over the wall in the top corner and putting his side in front at the break. Scoring was capped off in the second period just before stoppage time as Ebenezer Ofori scored once again, this time a well placed shot into the bottom corner to cement his important to the AIK midfield.

vs. Elfsborg IF (Won 1-0)
A Nils Froling header 20 minutes from time sent AIK on their to their 4th consecutive league victory of the season in a tight affair away from home. The game was contested fiercely with some big challenges and resolute defending, the two teams seemed to cancel each other out but the one major change of the game fell to the visitors. Froling continued his fine run of form with a superb back post header after latching onto a Nabil Bahoui cross.

vs. IK Brage (Won 2-0)
A first half double sent AIK on their way to victory against newly promoted Brage this afternoon, it was a firmly one sided affair and the scoreline could of been more comprehensive. Nils Froling opened the scoring after 13 minutes with a superb solo effort beating 3 defenders before driving the ball into the bottom corner, the victory was then sealed 3 minutes later as Nabil Bahoui struck another fine free kick and to leave all Gnaget fans smiling.

vs. Ostersunds FK (Won 2-1)
AIK visited the always tricky Ostersunds looking for a 6th consecutive league win and duely delivered after a fine performance. Goals either side of half time proved the difference, firstly that man again Nils Froling latching onto a stray clearance to drive at goal and finish with some style. Just after the restart another impressive performer for AIK this season, Ebenezer Ofori added to his tally with a well placed finish from 12 yards.
Oliver Olsen reduced the scoreline with 40 minutes to play and to restore some hope for the home side but AIK held firm to see out the win.
Nils Froling was superb for AIK in the opening month bagging 4 goals
A superb opening month saw us take maximum points from all 6 Allsvenskan fixtures but despite the competition is sticking with us and no doubt it will be hottly contested league once again. We had many outstanding performances during this month and its hard to pick who had the best impact, both Nils Froling and Ebenezer Ofori were superb and led us to some really important early victories, hopefully this continues for the remainder of the season.
As we head into May we have some big matches to contend with especially given the form of the teams we are facing, specifically IFK Norrkoping and Malmo who have both had fantastic starts to the season. For now though we can look at what we have achieved and keep building on it, we have generated great momentum from last season and to my joy we are carrying it over into this one.
