Argo was fucking fantastic. A lot better than I thought it was going to be.

I also watched Napoleon Dynamite. It's the kind of film I should like but I thought it was absolutely shite.

What I have liked is that I haven't seen it and I likely won't, ever.

What is it that people liked so much about Argo?

I liked seeing all the Canadians get butthurt and complain about how it downplays their role.

I also really liked the opening montage, hardly ever see a film based upon historical events actually provide the background, especially in a way that paints the US in a negative light.

On the whole though it's really only an okay thriller, Alan Arkin's character being the best part of the film. Definitely not the best film of 2012.

I didn't think Alan Arkin was particularly good tbh. Thought Goodman outshined him.
The opening siege of the embassy is great stuff, and parts of the climax at the airport is quite good as well, but nothing in between got me out of my chair.

It's a well-made film, it's just not that exciting to me (which would make it a failure as a thriller, wouldn't it?)

Oz was weird, I enjoyed the first half or so but then it just lost it's way and I couldn't help but think, wtf is going on?

The Watch. Ridiculous story line, although it had me laughing fairly regularly.

7.3/10.

Really enjoyed Mama, and I'm not usually one for horror films. Heard The Orphanage is also worth a look?

Saw Mama last night, was pretty good, even if I did think that the Mama thing was a tree at first

50/50

Amazing movie in my opinion and really shows what it's like for someone to have cancer and how it effects not only them but the people around them. One of my favourite movies in recent years tbh!!!

Also watched Safe House and the Inbetweeners movie last night which both weren't bad.

The Guilt Trip. Seth Rogen's the boy. I want to be his best friend. It wasn't a great film but there were some funny parts in it. A wee bit of emotional value and a decent wee twist too. 7/10 but mainly because of Seth Rogen.

Just watched Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Really, anything directed by Kevin Smith featuring Seth Rogen, Jason Mewes (and his dick) and Randal from Clerks is going to be fucking quality. Probably an 8/10.

Tomorrow I'm going to watch the aforementioned 50/50 and probably Pineapple Express.

I loved it, just thought it was a bit long.

Also really makes me want Casey Affleck to do more stuff.

Trainspotting sequel in the works?

Mod edit: Fixed the link for you.

Ewan McGregor has always been very firm in his position against making a sequel, would be very strange if he'd suddenly change his mind.

The opportunity to make a film out of Porno has more or less passed by now, pretty much all the actors are at least 5 if not 15 years too old for the roles, unless they make major adjustments to the story.

Seeing as how I never liked it and subsequently haven't watched it in ages, I decided to watch Rocky V earlier, remembered why it's my least favourite Rocky film.

Don't think I've watched a film for like 3 weeks. That's a serious dry spell for me.

Burt Wonderstone was decently funny, not amazing though. I think my love for Steve Carell carried the film tbh, had it been someone else I probably wouldn't have found it half as good.

Great film. I was surprised by how funny Channing Tatum was as well.

Watched a film for the first time in roughly a month today, and oh boy was it a good one!

Zero Dark Thirty. Just an excellent work of film-making.
