Due to various licencing difficulties Football Manager 2012 has a quirk in which the German and Japanese national teams don't appear with the correct players. Instead they appear with what as known as "greyed out players". Players that you can't buy or sell and only exist to fill up those national teams.

You also can't manage the German national team, or the Japanese national team. But not to worry, there's a simple fix to allow the correct this problem and have both national teams in the game properly.

First go to following location:

Windows
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\db\1200\lnc\all
Mac
[username]>library>Application support>Steam>steamapps>common>football manager 2012>data>db>1200>lnc>all
There will then be three files that you need to delete:
  • fake.lnc
  • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
  • nleague.lnc.
To unlock the German National Team all you need to do is delete the fake.inc file, but the other files also restrict the game in other, less intrusive, ways, so we recommend deleting all three.

Important

It's important to note that any official patches will recreate these files. So make sure you delete them after each patch release.

Secondly, this will not help with existing save games. To get the correct German and Japanese national teams you MUST START A NEW GAME.
