So here's how things stand in the group.
These two remaining games are actually a scrap for the bottom 3 places, if I do manage to lose these games, by enough goals, I could technically finish bottom. Not good.

All leagues are set to 'view only' apart from England.
However the Hungarian league has no real players!!! So I have very little to work with.

So I got two wins to end the campaign on a higher note, however the opening 3 losses and the loss to Luxembourg were unacceptable.
Avoided the dreaded wooden spoon but the gap between me and the top three is an issue we need to sort. Next quali draw will be for Euro 2012.

So here's the two things that worry me.
1: Confidence. My board cannot feasibly be that pleased with what's just happened, we lost our firs three games, lost to Luxembourg and were 2 poor games away from finishing bottom. Also my position would have at least been under a mini review after the poor run of 1 win in 5.
2: Rankings. Now I know they are probably done exactly how they are in real life. However I still don't like how I they can fluctuate so much. I guess being Hungary will mean this fluctuate to continue for a while.

Yeh they're all the same as me, the problem is there's a bunch of us who aren't consistent and therefore a single win has a big effect.
Also the fact that different continents play at different times doesn't help.

The group for the European Championships 2012 qualifying have been drawn.
I have to say I am saving real thoughts on this group until we get underway but below are my initial thought.
Portugal are clear favourites.
Croatia should come 2nd
Me, Belarus, Norway & N. ireland might be involved in a monumental scrap for 3rd.
Andorra are shit.

After the World Cup (will get a SS up soon) I applied for France, Argentina & Brazil just to test the water. However as my reputation was set to "automatic" and as I haven't exactly set the footballing world alight I wasn't confident.
However I forgot that I set my second nationality to Brazilian, therefore I have been offered this...

I think this is the best way to show the predicament I am in. I am breaking even on players as I think the game is not producing enough Hungarian newgens and when I am they are not good enough.

A great win, probably the best start we could have hoped for and it damages a direct rival.

A simpler win I will never have.
I may have cut the screensheet short but I can report that their winning goal was in fact one of the last kicks of the game. Utterly gutting as that point would have been a real bonus.

Wow, now that I didn't see. The reason? We kept things tight at the back and scored from 4 corners, yeh 4!! Hardly even scored a corner before this game, then get 4 in one game. Not moaning!
Not used to this! Unfortunately I have a few very tricky games coming up and we've never been the best at maintaining good form.

So here comes the inconsistent patch that has plagued our last few campaigns. I hope it's just a blip. Northern Ireland and Norway up next, if I fail in those it's game over.

That good and the bad of the Hungary National Football Team. A little annoyed at the Norway game as we're normally better at home.
It's looking unlikely for us to qualify now as Norway are on fire and taking points off of all the other teams and we're beginning to falter.

So the Portuguese have done it again, they've left it late and beat me by the single goal. They have taken 6 points off us when we deserved 2 draws. It's games like these, where we having held on for valuable points, that seem to have harmed our campaign.
Still got a few games left but our form has been a little dire.

So after a little research and a one word answer tweet from Miles Jacobson I decided to add to my staff of two (me & ass-man Nagy)
I have brought in some real quality, everyone has 20's for at least one specific coaching attribute.
I set Nagy to my U19 manager to free up the ass-man spot, then signed Meulensteen as he's a bit of a beast.
I am not overly sure how much of an effect this may have on my future campaigns, but I am hoping it will aid me in the long run.

So with that last defeat to Portugal & Croatia (not shown, lost 0-1) I can now not qualify and therefore have booked my summer holiday for the 3rd time.
I have 2 games left and am stuck in an almighty battle with Croatia & Belarus. A win against Belarus, up next, and I finish least 4th.

Oh and before I forget here's how World Cup 2010 turned out.
Germany won on penalties.

Hleb you bellend! Had we held on for the win 4th would have definitely been ours, as it stands we have a very good looking Norway (away) and Belarus have N. Ireland (home)
If I come 5th in this group it will be another campaign of lost chances.

Inevitable really.
Belarus won against N. Ireland to relegate us to 5th.
On the whole a much more competitive qualifying campaign, still didn't make it but we're looking a bit better and I'm hoping my new staff may be able to pull some performance out of my players.

Kind of sums up how the last part of our qualifying wnet, we lost momentum and fell through the floor. A coupe more wins and we would've been looking at 3rd in the group and a higher rating.
The overall confidence is good, however I do feel I can't be sacked which I'm not too happy about. There's no pressure with the job.

So got the group through and, as ever, I am gonna be embroiled in a battle for the 'also-rans' in the group. I should come ahead of Faroe Islands and Lithuania so a battle between me and Scotland for 3rd looks most likely. If I can get in to 3rd my rating should take a bit of a boost.

Interesting. Not interested.
I had to think long and hard about this offer. They have a better team than me, and a worse rating so there's room for improvement. However they have less players than me, not enough defenders and also the average age is allot higher.
Offer rejected although pleased to have the opportunity to reject.

I went for this one, a loss is a loss against the Czech's no matter the score. I went direct and counter attack and jst as time was running out we broke down the right for a cross and Torghelle was there to nod it home.
A great start to my campaign and if I can get another draw against Russia (next) then I can really push on against the "easier" teams.

Well. Didn't expect this. A great result that puts us in a strong position already. We've played the 2 hardest teams in the group and got 4 points from them, now if we can get a good run of wins against the lesser nations we can push on and go for top 3.

Another good win to improve our chances of a good campaign. Next up I need to beat Scotland away, do that and a win vs Faroe Islands and we're looking healthy.
All I have to do now is holiday for about 6 months and hope for no serious injuries.

Two good results, especially away to Scotland. Next up are the two crucial games. Czech's & Russia.
If I can survive those with 2 or 3 points I have a very good chance of at least 3rd, maybe even higher.

I have to be honest no. There's no real talent coming through and this is slightly worrying.
Depending on what I can do with my current squad (next 4 years) I may have to move on if the talent dries out.
