Give this a try.

Go to your FM folders in My Documents and delete the folder named 'Crash Dumps'.

Then open up Steam, go to Games > View Games Library and right click on FM13/14, then click Properties > Local Files and click on 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'.

Thanks for the advice, I went through the steps you advised but I still get the error even with Steam loading 36 files back onto the game. I'm not sure but I hope the last cause of action is NOT having to uninstall the game and reinstall it.

Something else to try.

To delete your cache, please do the following:

Windows XP:
First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders.

XP:
My Computer
'Tools'
'Folder Options'.
Then go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

Now this is done, do the following:

1. Open "My Computer"
2. Navigate to : C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Sports Interactive
3. Go into the "Sports Interactive" Folder.
4. Go to the "Football Manager 2014" Folder.
5. Delete the Preferences folder

Windows Vista and Windows 7:
1. Click "Start"
2. Within the "Search Programs and Files" box, paste the following then press "Enter": %localappdata%/sports interactive/football manager 2014 (Make sure you press Enter, it may otherwise say 'No items match your search'
3. Delete "Cache" folder

Windows 8
1. Click "Desktop."
2. Launch a file explorer window (a folder for example or just press the windows key + the letter "E" at the same time)
3. In the address bar at the top copy and paste the following then press "Enter": %localappdata%/sports interactive/football manager 2014 (Make sure you press Enter, it may otherwise say 'No items match your search'
4. Delete the "Cache" folder

Also try removing all the graphics you may have downloaded, you don't have to delete them just move them from the game folders and try to load it up after.
