Competition reputation gone way down?

So I'm currently managing Celtic and after the first season, I won the league, Scottish cup and league cup. I got knocked out of the champions league in the semi finals. The competition reputation had the Scottish prem ranked 19th and now in my second season, it's ranked 40th. It's that because I battered everyone in Scotland? My club still went up in rep, but competition reputation is fucked lol.

It's because the other teams either failed in Europe or your coefficient isn't high enough to allow more teams into Europe so your competition will go down.
