I noticed this error in FM 2007 and FM 2022 (the only ones I played) and I never understood why there's always been this error. Each team in the game has its own different stadium, with 2 different names, but it's actually the same stadium.

In FM 2022 there's even a tab that tells you for each stadium which teams play inside it and sure enough there's only one team for each stadium. This is kind of a big error, because not only the 2 teams are allowed to play at home at the same time (which would be impossible) but during the derbies they even give an advantage to the team that plays at home, which shouldn't exist. This of course ruin a lot the derbies.

Do you know why there's this error and if there's a way to fix it somehow?

@Giant Lizard In short ..

I think it is a question linked to image rights regarding the name of the stadium, for Milan the desired name is "San Siro" for Inter instead "Giuseppe Meazza". So in all likelihood Sports Interactive has decided to make two stadiums for this reason.

How to solve the problem?
Choose the stadium you want to keep .. then with the pre-game editor you change the stadium, save the change in a .fmf file, insert the file in the editor data folder and only in a new save will you have the correction you made .
I'm not very experienced with pre-game editors, but roughly the procedure is the following. You have decided that the stadium in Milan is Giuseppe Meazza (Inter) so in the pre-game editor, you leave Inter as it is, instead you go to the profile of Milan and in the stadiums / stadiums used you will have to replace "San Siro" with the "Giuseppe Meazza". If you want it to be that even when the Italian national football team plays, make sure that "Giuseppe Meazza" is also in the Italian national team. Save the changes and place the file in the editor data folder and be sure to upload it to the new saves.

I don't know if this change could create problems with the creation of calendars, I think not, but I'm not sure. Certainly many clubs share the same stadium and there doesn't seem to be any problems.

ask SI on their forums directly why it is the case @Humberto21 may be spot on with image rights and his points are valid

you could edit the LNC files directly using notepad where stadium names etc can be edited, it would override any changes made in the pre game editor-

this is what is in that folder currently for Italy

but ask SI first before doing anything as you may cause issues with fixtures etc I doubt it but just check to be sure

Hi, thanks for your answer!

I don't really understand the image rights thing, to be honest. I mean, the stadium is that one, it has a name, how can they say “no, we want a different stadium for ourselves”? Besides, I saw this error exist since at least 2007 (I saw other topics about the same problem during the years) and it seems really strange that such a big difference from reality still couldn't get fixed in 15 years.

And regarding your fix, doesn't that simply change the name of the stadium? The problem is not simply the name, but the fact that the stadium is not shared between the teams, the way it is in reality. That changes a lot of things in the fixtures, the capacity, etc…and there are other shared stadiums in the game, so it would be perfect if that could be shared as well.

Thanks! Yes, I didn't think about asking in their official forums. I'll do that.

Not only the name changes .. remember that as we said, there are two stadiums, so even if they are "twins" they still have two different IDs. So when you make your choice, you will make sure that the two clubs have the same stadium (name and ID the same). To understand better, check the "Olimpico" stadium shared between Rome and Lazio in the pre-game editor.

I see. So, in that way, the stadium should be shared between the 2 teams?

That would be perfect. Sadly I still don't know how to use the editor, but maybe one day I'll try that.
