When I try to add the Spain 22-23 170922.fmf file it doesn't seem to work for me when in game?
it says “this data file is incompatible - please load it into the editor and resave”
Any idea how to fix it?

are you playing the FM 23 beta as it will not work and a new file will be released when people have access to the FM 23 editor to validate it.

How are there now two fmf files? Do they both need to be put in the “editor” file?

The fmf file in each Nation league will or should be the same but check the date in file name.
Back to your question the there is one for FM22 and another for FM23 as many still use previous version.

The fmf file in both of these pages will be the same for kits so only require to download Spain once etc. newest date will be ideal such as Spain 22-23 FM23 111122 (date)
