save game wont load

Hi, I went to load my save game but its tells me "the save game could not be loaded"...any ideas? Previous versions of the save game work...but I was about a year ahead of the previous saves. Windows did install some kind of update...and for some reason a number of cutout headshots were on my desktop...not sure if these incidents are related. Any help would be much appreciated.
