I don't think at all that aesthetics is more important than truth, to be honest. I have no problem setting fake dates but IMHO realism is an important thing.
@Lebohang Mokoena Just to be clear, I wasn't putting incorrect information to be aesthetically pleasing. I thought something was wrong? In actuality, this is REALLY bad practice from the Croatian FA allowing something like this to slide; contract end dates should be enforced for the player's nation, to prevent issues where due to FIFA rulings, they wouldn't even be able to sign for their own nation. If I'm not mistaken. Say the FA allowed a player to end their contract after the Winter Transfer Window ends (say Feb 28th), they wouldn't be able to sign (in the sense of being able to play) for another Croatian club until the Summer Window opens.
Oh okay then if that's coming from the official source then that must be the case.
I don't think that CTxCB is intentionally putting in wrong dates for aesthetic reasons. I think he genuinely thought that transfermarkt was wrong.
My initial impression was the same to be honest, I thought that every league/country had dates that finished on the same date.
If there are more instances like this we should probably make that clearer alongside the dates that are listed on the submission page.
Of course, I'm not acussing CTxCB at all. 🙂

@Footygamer I think it would make sense to change the direction on the edit page to “Please add all REAL DATES (except in cases where the day and month of their contract expiry does not match that of the Playing Nation in the Contract Dates section). Do not try and modify dates based on the game start date, the system will do that itself.” –- I think standardizing everything based on how FM does new contracts for clubs, is more important and aesthetically pleasing than realism, and that then also removes the need for people to unnecessarily add comments justifying the edit.

@Footygamer @CTxCB I found a source (Zagreb's Football Association) who says the Transfermarkt info is true.
NK LOKOMOTIVA (Z)", ZAGREB, NK "NK HRVATSKI DRAGOVOLJAC (Z)", ZAGREB i igrač Rendulić Joško zaključili sporazum o ustupanju do 19.06.2024
Link (is a PDF and the text appears on the last page). I didn't know why they choose that date, but that's not the point. The point it's TFM info is correct.
Having non-standard contract expiry dates also could lead to a very niche issue... I've seen some new expiry dates on TM listed as say, May 31st, in nations where the Contract Expiry Date for the Nation is June 30th. That then leads to an issue where, say a player leaves Club A on May 31st, and signs on a Free Transfer for Club B on June 3rd. If that club is outside of the same nation, there'll be an issue where the player will not be properly training, because they'll be without a club until July 1st, because of FIFA-implemented transfer rules that don't allow you to sign players that have been released between the Winter and Summer Windows and because of the Int. Transfer Rules from FIFA. Whereas, if they were at Club A until June 30th, there'd be a seamless handover between the two clubs.

What is confusing though is that the game itself has all kinds of weird June based dates
I started a new save and did a quick check signing a free transfer and June 30th seems to be the actual date the game likes.
It does make sense to use the normal end of season date, it seems unlikely this one player would be given a random date in mid June and therefore likely a mistake from TM.
But if you're going to submit data different to the proof it would be worth commenting with your reasoning as well so everyone's aware.
@Lebohang Mokoena So you want me to respect Transfermarkt's date of June 15th, and not the "reference for contract start and end dates for each nation". Thought you guys would be trying to standardise contract changes with FM, and not trying to actively work against it. 🤣🤣
If you provide Transfermarkt as link then you should use the date that appears there. It's that easy.
Would love to get @Footygamer's opinion on this too. I'll happily start using stupid dates from Transfermarkt, its of no issue to me, but I always thought that reference section was seen as paramount when facing a non-standard date that goes against the norm?

@CTxCB Please, don't make up dates.
Joško Rendulić is now on loan to Hr. Dragovoljac until 19th June 2024.
