This application creates an XML file, linking a list of newgens and images in newgen packs by FMUGens type. With so-called 'r-' method. No need to edit XML manually and add ‘r-’ to players IDs.

Actually this alternative for NewGan Manager. It takes right photos from right folders and creates XML.

The utility does NOT replace faces previously assigned to newgens using this method.

The facepack I used is located at FMUGens – Newgen Facepack FM24 and alike.

Usage Instructions To achieve the result of automating the process of assigning images to newgens, you will need:

  1. "Face for Newgens" utility. Available in the archive.
  2. "is newgen search filter.fmf" filter and "SCRIPT FACES player search.fmf" custom view from NewGan Manager developers. Available in the archive.

So, the day has come, and newgens have appeared in your game. Follow these steps:

Getting the list of newgens:

  1. Create "views" and "filters" folders in the game folder if they do not exist. By default, this is Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024, but if you installed it elsewhere, then follow the corresponding path to the Football Manager 2024 folder. This principle applies further in the text as well.
  2. Place the "SCRIPT FACES player search.fmf" file in the "views" folder and the "is newgen search filter.fmf" file in the "filters" folder.
  3. Create a new unemployed manager in FM to see all players in search.
  4. Go to the "Player List" section.
  5. Import the view "SCRIPT FACES player search.fmf". Custom View -> Import View... -> SCRIPT FACES player search -> Load
  6. Import the filter "is newgen search filter.fmf". Configure Search -> Gear icon in the bottom left corner -> Manage Filters -> Import -> is newgen search filter -> Load
  7. Select all filtered players. For example, by selecting a row with one player, press CTRL+A, press CTRL+P, choose "To text file".
  8. Save the list of players in a text file.

Automating the acquisition of images for newgens:

  1. Launch "Face for Newgens"
  2. In the RTF location window, select the created text file
  3. In the Facepack Folder window, select where the newgen faces are located (e.g., \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2023\graphics\FMU gens faces)
  4. Press "Start" and wait for the popup window notifying you of the completion of the XML file creation process.

ATTENTION: If there was a config.xml file in the folder, it will be replaced with all ensuing consequences.

Activating images in the game:

  1. Clear cache in FM settings.
  2. Reload the skin.

After completing these steps, the images should update.

Please report any bugs found, ambiguities in the instructions, etc. Bugs are quite possible and the code can still be optimized further, but I saw a satisfactory result for my own game.

Thanks! One question: after the first season, when new newgens show up in the game, will I have to do the process again?

Hey! Yes, you should do this again: get the list of newgens as RTF and feed it to this app. It'll replace config.xml and new newgens will get their faces after cash is cleared and reloading skin.

Is there a way of keeping the faces for the newgens that I've generated faces for in previous seasons?

Sorry additional comment, I had the same problem with the Newgan - only a couple of hundred players get their faces changed, the rest stay as they are, I'm assuming theres a problem with the RTL file, or the config file. The config doesn't seem anywhere near long enough.

It saves previously assigned faces. It adds new strings to the existing list of players.

Maybe you exported not whole list of players to the RTF file. Usually I pick first newgen player, then scroll down to the end of list and Shift+click on the last player. Then ctrl+P and save to the text file. Works for me

Very strange the RTF is complete, it has 15,000 names on it. The config file has a fraction of those.

Any ideas?

Same problem using NewGan - I get some faces, and the config file doesn't pull across all the information in the RTF. I've seen elsewhere this could be a language issue?

This is probably caused by using a larger database than large(the largest in the game)
