In the late 2023/2024 pre-season, Chelsea had only one senior team striker available, Nicolas Jackson. Jackson had a decent pre-season in which he scored a goal and an assist over the remaining 2 matches. It had seemed to the world that Jackson was the way to go, a decent striker backed by a surprisingly good-performing Raheem Sterling in which he scored 3 goals over the 2 matches.
Things were thought to be going well, or at least decent for Chelsea, but to no one's surprise, Jackson had injured himself where he would appear to not be able to play until at least December.
The squad was full of injured first-team players, so I had to make a choice to promote 3 u21 players to help assist the start of the season until I decided to sign a new temporary striker.

Chelsea ends the summer transfer window with three new signings, adding further to the ridiculous money spent in the same window.
.
Olivier Giroud was identified as a target to temporarily replace the injured Nicolas Jackson. Although Chelsea had failed to agree a deal with A.C. Milan over the last week of the window, a deal was agreed to sign Giroud coming the deadline for the transfer window.
Chelsea had also identified 26-year-old Pedro from Flamengo as he had been linked on several occasions throughout the start of the season. It didn't took long to agree for a deal with Flamengo as a deal worth £22.5M were quickly agreed.
Last but not least, 22-year-old Thiago Almada was on Chelsea's radar far longer than the two other signings as Chelsea looks for an occupant in the attacking midfield role. Chelsea later agreed to a deal worth £11.25M with Atalanta United for Thiago Almada.
.
All three signings agreed on a contract with Chelsea on the deadline day of the window with Thiago Almada signing the contract 15 minutes before 12:00AM.
