@Footygamer What's happening with the “SI Missed” category? I've found a bunch of players I'd like to push as updates, but they currently fall under that. There's going to be no further transfer updates… So, is the current SI Database aligned with the FM24 Final Transfer Update, and if so, what is the point of that category continuing?

@Script1ner A Future Transfer won't be able to approved in the Data Update, until Slot is confirmed as the incoming manager (by Liverpool most likely, on their website or official Twitter Account [I'm never going to call it X!]). It is my understanding, from various sources (don't quote me on this, though), that Slot could travel to the AXA Training Centre sometime this week to sign a contract and do the obligatory publicity shoots that come with that.

As a staff member if you see an SI Missed you should just be able to enable it or disable it.

If a non staff member see's it they can vote for it with a thumbs up to push it into the pending queue.

That seems sufficient to me and i'm not aware there's anything more to be done specifically by me.

Are you suggesting there's some issue whereby they can't be enabled or disabled? Or are they annoying in some way and you'd like them all removed? Or something else entirely?

My question is, what is the point of the category going forward, seeing as there won't be any further updates from SI to the database? Having "SI Missed" once the current ones have been dealt with, seems pointless, because it doesn't mean anything. It would mean something if, for example, there were future updates to come in the database and players needed to be marked who SI might add the changes to in the future, but as its now the final database update from SI, barring any emergency patches which won't change the database now. But that's not the case.

@CTxCB well “once the current ones have been dealt with” it's just an empty category, it can be hidden if it's annoying, i'm not sure what the issue is or what needs to be decided, especially since we're a long way away from the current ones being dealt with?

In my mind they are equivalent to pending, as in they need to be double checked, I just didn't add them all to pending as this would create pressure on mods who are regularly trying to get the pending list down to 0. There are currently still 3,178 in the list.

So the options are:

(1) They can just sit there with no extra effort being put into going through them but whenever someone sees one they can check it and change the status.

(2) People can make a concerted effort to work through the list at this link

(3) We can ignore them and set them all to disabled.

(4) We can move all 3000+ to pending queue to force them to be checked.

My preference would be (1) which is the state we're currently in. If we do (4) that puts alot of pressure on existing mods which I don't like to do. If we do (3) then some good submissions might be lost. (2) people can do if they wish.

Like I said i'm not really sure what sort of answer you're expecting, we may be talking past each and thinking about things from a completely different perspective so please try and clarify if i've misunderstood you and my answer doesn't make sense.

@Footygamer I have a question about the SI Missed Category now, on checking that list.

So… This, as an example. Why hasn't whatever system deals with this, automatically moved your edit from SI Missed to Disabled, seeing as that later edit does the proper change? I'm willing to start cutting down the 3,178 entries currently in the SI Missed category (with a view to maybe entirely removing the category once they're all dealt with?), and making edits where required. But shouldn't something like this have automatically taken that one away? Usually later edits disable all previous edits, even if they were pending. Is something overriding that on SI Missed?

@Script1ner  @Lebohang Mokoena If anything, what's slowing down Slot signing a contract is things like this… He's essentially in FM, on the part where you choose the staff you're bringing from the old club, but because of stupid Work Permit rules on staff in England (which granted, is worse on FM), there's a period of limbo now where all the backroom staff he's submitted are ‘foreign’, for lack of a better word.

if you had to guess ( i know its just not really possible) but when would you say his future transfer will be enabled? i dont know if i should wait for it to become enabled or if i should start a save now incase it ends up becoming enabled tomorrow or something

Ah yep that's alot more clear thanks for taking the time to explain. I've checked the code and fixed it so that, that would be disabled in future and will now run through and disable any which have a more recent enabled submission to reduce the list 🙂

I would recommend if you know how to use the Pre-Game Editor. Loading the latest SortItOutSI Data Update, and just making it so that Slot has a future transfer to Liverpool on 1/7/2024, as Manager (First Team). Truly, with how backwards the UK has become in terms of football post-Brexit. It could be this week, next week, a few weeks time. The only rough estimate I can give you is probably within the next 2-3 weeks. Honestly, although its in the background, I think football is one of the sectors that has been most negatively affected by Brexit. Although the Home Office don't say it, its probably why the new ESC Permits have been issued. The current system makes it a pain in the ass to get foreign staff into the country, and it puts this really high bar (for most clubs in the country below the Premier League) on the type of talent they can bring in.

You don't actually have to make the edit yourself, next to the unconfirmed transfer just click “Download” to get an XML file and then there's some instructions on that page with a couple of steps to convert the xml into an fmf and then you're good to go. Anyone can do this for any unconfirmed transfer.

@Script1ner if you check my comment it's easier than CTxCB suggested, just follow the instructions when downloading an individual submission, it's very simple like 3 clicks. You don't have to edit our update or make any changes yourself.

@Footygamer

Question: Is this a bug? All I've done is set the expiry date of the pre-existing loan to 30 June 2024, as the club you had listed, AFC Tubize, is the wrong club. He's already on loan at the right club, but had no expiry.

The issue where some descriptions said “Invalid Date” when the loan start hadn't actually been changed has now been fixed.

@Footygamer Would it be possible for you to edit the Edit Page, so in the "Team Contracted To" field, where there's the darker grey box on the far side, next to box you type: Instead of just having the Unique ID, have it span two rows. With the Unique ID on the first row, and the Status of the club below it (Professional, Semi Professional, Amateur, Always Amateur, Unknown, etc.)? A big thing that saps up time in me making new transfers which aren't loans or movements to free agency, is that I need to go into the Football Manager 2024 Editor, search for the club and check this, as that determines what type of contract the player will be on after moving. I.e: You don't want a player moving to an Amateur Club, on a Full-Time Contract.

@Footygamer Awesome. I'll check it out in the morning! I also have a question for you, and I'd like your opinion on it. Would it make sense, in specifically the ‘Team Contracted To’, ‘Loan to Team’ and ‘Future Club’ Fields (but not the Browse Search), to blacklist Extinct Clubs from being searched for? I ask this, because sorting through all those SI Missed items, there was a good couple dozen transfers where the club listed was the incorrect club because they'd likely searched wrong, found a club's previous club (which more often than not still has the same logo), so if that was enabled, the player would likely not exist in the game as I believe players at Extinct Clubs are intentionally not loaded.

Erm possibly but i'm not sure it's something that's causing too much of an issue, how often are clubs going extinct and being replaced by new ones? As far as I know very rarely.

The problem I see is more historically it's causing an issue. Like, for example, with SI Missed, there was a bunch of edits where you were trying to move players from LFA Reggio Calabria to Reggina, all of those I had to disable because Reggina is the extinct club. If somebody types a club name in and gets more than one result, there's a risk of them selecting the wrong club to move players to, and sometimes that might be missed. Especially if their two club names and club logos roughly line up on a source like transfermarkt and their name is recognisable to the person making the edit, could be easy to make an edit and not know you're making a mistake. I checked the FM23 and FM24 Editor: In FM23, there's 26,012 Extinct Clubs; In FM24, there's 26,580 Extinct clubs, so in a single year, 568 clubs have ceased to exist… But my worry is more the amount of clubs that have vaguely similar names where somebody could reasonably accidentally send a player to the wrong club, it might not be noticed soon enough and end up in a daily update (E.g: Montréal Impact and Club de Foot Montréal; Reggina 1914 and LFA Reggio Calabria; AFC Tubize and RU Tubize-Braine; WSC Hertha Wels and SPG Wels (WSC Hertha Wels/FC Wels)). IMO, disabling searching for extinct clubs within the Edit Page (but not Browse), would protect against that.

Well now that we have “extinct” in the search results.

And here's an example of a description if someone accidentally did it.

So I think that should be sufficient.

To be clear adding a restriction such as excluding “extinct” will make the search slightly slower and i'm currently working on making it faster, so I want to avoid that if possible. So I think it's better for them to be allowed to be included for faster search 99% of the time and just make it clear when they're extinct the 1% of the time.

@Footygamer

This is something interesting. LA Galaxy II, for example, is extinct, but they apparently have players in. I'll deal with these through their sources or finding them, but do you know if this is a commonplace thing in FM? For Extinct Clubs to still have players at them? Actually, in FM, they're not set as Extinct? I'm very confused.

Footygamer

I've discovered issues with the 24.4 import which would have lead to this extinct issue and some others. The issue is mostly with things that were controlled by checkboxes and dropdowns but I think possibly also some chinese and brazilian transfers but i'm just investigating those now.

@Footygamer

https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/submission/818331/changes – Found an issue that creates “Description not available”. The fix, I'd suggest is to specifically check when the player is still at the same club, but has their “Date Contract Starts” or “Date Contract Expires” cleared. This could create a description of “[PLAYER] now has a contract with no start date.” or “[PLAYER] now has a contract with no expiry date.” It would also make sense to state when the contract type has changed, and add a line like “[PLAYER] is now on a [CONTRACT TYPE] contract.” – It would make sense to track that, so if a player goes to a club on the wrong contract type, its easier to notice as a staff member.

You also mentioned thinking it wasn't up to date with 24.4 somewhere else, there were some issues which should hopefully be fixed now.

I think my thoughts on it not being up to date with 24.4 were based on me searching for Yunnan Yukun and it bringing up the old, extinct club, but that was fixed when I actually put the Unique ID in. But its awesome that the extinct team thing has been fixed.,

On any club's team page which lists their players, e.g: https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/team/676 - Can you do this? Add three other things below the player name and after the Unique ID, separated by vertical bars? Where X is Person Type, Y is Contract Role and Z is Contract Type? For National Team Pages, X can be Person Type, Y can be National Team Role, and Z isn't required.
