Background
Plymouth Argyle were founded in 1886. If you're a fan of English football, you probably know already that Plymouth is the biggest city in England that's never had a team in the top flight. Argyle have never won a major trophy, the closest attempt being an FA Cup semi-final defeat to Watford in 1984. With a decent stadium and a wide catchment area, this is a poor return for a club with Plymouth's potential. Let's change that.

I'm not wedded to a tactical principle, but I am wedded to the 4-3-3 shape. So looking at the squad, we have one fantastic player in Morgan Whittaker, and overall a good work-rate in the squad. So we've gone for a basic gegenpress system, nothing revolutionary here.

And we had a fantastic first season! Conceded a lot but scored a lot, and finished in the top half, well above our target of avoiding relegation. So with some defensive signings in the window, we could potentially look at a playoff run next season.
