Cannot install data update

Hi all

I`m having big problems installing the data update, into FM24,

i have followed step by step the instructions, i click on 24.3 database its totally blank no updates are available for me to select.

I have no idea why this has happened i know people have had the same problems as me,

I download the data update, zipfile to Documents/Sports interactive/Football manager 2024/editor data.

then start the FM new game, 24.3 update there is no new update files, has anyone got any ideas please, its driving me mad Lol

Maybe a silly question but you did extract the files from the zipfile into the editor data folder right ?

Could you perhaps post a picture of your file structure (editor data folder contents etc)

The only files I have in editor data is the files the came with the data update, nothing else

@Alan Gresty please can you provide basic info like if you're on windows and mac when asking for support. Screenshots also help. Have you definitely checked the things listed under “Common Mistakes” in the troubleshooting guide

@Simone Terrosi there's something wrong with the files in your editor data folder. Just before that screen you should be able to see a list of files from your editor data folder and they usually indicate an issue next to the file name.

I have just tried to install the name fix, following the video.

again this has not worked so its obviously im doing something wrong.

I`ve sent a screenshot of the folder location in preferences.

Did you put the files here: C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024\editor data ?

I mean, “Preferences” > Search for“Location”… is it pointing to the right folder?

still no luck with the problems,  I have search for Location, the search points to the editor data.

when look on documents/football manager 24/ editor data all the files are there, but when i look through FM 24 refences, nothing shows up.

I was just wondering If I uninstall FM24, then reinstall the game, using the sortitout update?

Have you played previous FM versions before? Every version is very much the same in applying data updates and graphic packs. 

Real name fix and graphic packs are different folders… since you can't get either working, I suppose you might have mixed up something basic. 

How about skins, tactics,…? Can you load any of them up? 

Don't think it makes a difference, but may try materials from other FM sites?

can anyone tell how to remove onedrive from my files path?

that may be the problem why the update is not working, i had one drive on my laptop but deleted it but its still one my path to FM 24

"One Drive"? Do you mean the path here? 

That's what I spotted earlier from your screenshot, and therefore asked you “…“Preferences” > Search for“Location”… is it pointing to the right folder? ”You replied that it's pointing to the “editor data” folder…  

Anyway, Preferences > Location > “Change Folder”?

Is there a risk of impact on older ongoing save which I play with oldest database ?

Do you mean: Does updating the database have an impact on your ongoing saved game? 

Just think about this: 

• In your saved game, say… you've signed Jude Bellingham for your team. So, you install the latest database… you know that he should be at Real Madrid now. What do you expect to happen in your saved game? No way he's forced to transfer back to Madrid, right?

• Or, assume that you've played your saved game till 2030 already… any update to the database here is about 2024. How can it have any impact?

• Last but not least, remember the official Winter Update a few months ago? It includes a database update after the transfer window in January. If this update could have an impact on everyone's saved game, it could cause disasters...

Basically, when creating a new game, the system creates an “instance” of the database. It's like… you play with a spare copy of the database (based on its status at the time you create the game). The “world” in your saved game is closed and moves on its own, which is independent to the database.

I was just affraid because I have a network save with some friends and I was frightened to make mistake by updating the database.

i want to thank Poorjack for his help with the problems I've been having.

I finally sort it out I reset my laptop, then deleted everything to do with onedrive, reinstalled FM24 BINGO it worked

Wow! Reset the computer? It's too much hassle… I guess I'll never go this far. 

You really love the game! The passion makes me consider starting a new save now. 

I didn't help anything at all, as you just reset the system. Anyway, have fun playing!
