I recently deleted my save game by mistake and then emptied the recycle bin also.
I was wondering if there is anyway to get this game file back, I’m sure I have done it before but forgotten how I did it.
Any help much appreciated.

Use some file recovery software, like Recuva

Chkdsk is for verifying file system integrity of a disk/partition and attempts to fix logical file system errors. Not for recovering deleted files…

The previous post has suggested some file recovery software… supposed you should have one or two standby on your harddisk or tried already. Anyway, don't expect too much...

Can you find out why you have done this again… after the first time?

Have you exercised any precaution, like backing up the save game file every day or week?

I was experimenting a tactic vs another tactic with 4 clubs to see which tactic came out on top when they faced each other. This caused the save files to overwritten my main save at the time which I didn’t know at the time until I went to load my main game. I there for deleted my experiment save.

Regardless what the cause or reason is, having a backup would help… at least, you may retrieve an earlier version, and reduce the loss.

Sorry to say: It's the second time… better learn how to slow down, think twice and have a plan. Also, always get yourself a safety net, e.g. backing up the save game every now and then… and the entire computer system. This is a habit that can save you in many situations.

Life is actually quite nice to us all: If you don't learn the lesson the first time, it hits you harder the second time… to make sure you bear the experience in mind.

So, you just deleted the save game file, not overwrote it?

Then, you may run some file recovery programs like suggested in another post… and pray for the best. Good Luck!

Please do have one or two of those programs ready on your harddisk, just in case… especially you seem to like deleting stuff. They're not guaranteed to save you everything, but it gives you one last chance.

Like i said i did a    experiment with 4 clubs which then overwrote my main save. i have downloaded a free recovery called windows file recovery but no idea what to type in to it for my lost saves/deleted. Have you used this before or can you help me on what to do ?

You may be able to recover the save file, but of course, it's going to be the game when you last hit the save button. So, in this case, it should be some time after your experiment…

Anyway, every data recovery program is very much the same in operation. Scan the folder… if find anything, then choose the file(s) to recover and hope for the best. Something like: https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=m7d6dtqE-pI

"install previous version"? Not really understand what it means… You only have a single save file, right? So, it's only the game version before you deleted the save file… nothing else.

Even though you decide to move on… it's better to understand how things work, try to avoid any confusion in the future.

Anyway, if you're to start a new game, please consider backing up the save game file regularly… especially before you're going to experiment something.

I see Shaun has Onedrive.

Onedrive Recycle Bin. It'll be there. It's my usual fall back for calamity of this nature assuming FM folder location is in your documents folder.

Click the Onedrive Icon in taskbar and hit recycle bin…. it'll take you to Onedrive Web. Sort my date for easier access, think default is something else.
