NewGan Troubles - Player faces disappearing

Hi all,

At my wits end with NewGan 1.4. Im on a Macbook Pro M4 and just time machined from my old macbook to my new one.

Since then, Im having consistent issues with updating my French newgens:
- Unemployed second manager
- Is newgen filter
- Script faces shortlist
- CMD + A, CMD + P to get RTF file
- Facepack V3 in graphics folder selected. select my new RTF file
- If i generate, it wipes all my existing faces with new ones (expected) and seems to find all newgens. I have searched for a few players IDs and found them in the config with a photo that exists assigned to them
- If I preserve, it seems to find all newgens, same as above
- Go into game preferences > uncheck caching setting > Check reload skin on confirmation, clear cache, confirm. Reload happens and I then go back to preferences > toggle on caching > Toggle off skin reload, this is where the fun starts:
- If the first time I look at a player is in the French national team squad view and hover over their (i), they will not have an updated face
- If the first time I look at a player is in any other view, they have an updated face and that face will then show when I look in the French National Team squad

Now the cause is probably something else but after about 15 tries, this happens every single time. Can anyone think of what might be happening here? Some caching that's not working?

EDIT: Found my missing graphics config.xml, restored it and retried from scratch. Same issue

I just went to the graphics folder (not the facepack folder) and noticed there is no config file. Verifying files in Steam does not seem to restore it. Could this be the cause and how do I restore it?
