Celtic Splash Out On Record Transfer
The £23.5m transfer of Maurits Kjærgaard from Red Bull Salzburg to Celtic is a new club record purchase. The previous record was the £11m deal for Arne Engels from FC Augsburg in August 2024.

Premier Sports Cup Quarter Final Draw
The draw for the Premier Sports Cup Quarter Final has thrown up an exciting tie between Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic.
Rangers have been drawn as the home team in the tie so the game will be played at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday 19th September 2026.
With the draw sending Premier Sports Cup holders Celtic away from home against a bitter Glasgow rival, a bumper crowd is expected for what will undoubtedly be a fascinating and hard-fought tie.
Rangers and Celtic have, incredibly, played each other eighteen times in previous finals of the Premier Sports Cup, with Celtic winning their last encounter in 2025.

Holders Celtic went to Tannadice Park to face Dundee United hoping to kick start a title defence. United frustrated Donachy's side as they pegged back twice on the afternoon. Celtic's Michel-Ange Balikwisha put the visitors ahead on the 3rd minute, which was quickly cancelled out by an Ante Matej Jurić equaliser on the 8th minute. New Celtic striker Giuseppe Ambrosino put them ahead for a second time on the 32nd minute. Ante Matej Jurić got his second goal of the afternoon 7 minutes after the restart.
William Hill Premiership
Celtic returned home on the second weekend of the William Hill Premiership as they welcomed Hibernian to Celtic Park. Celtic captain Callum McGregor gave Celtic the lead with a low drive which hit the post on its way in on the 16th minute. Advanced playmaker Adrian Segecic then equalised for Hibernian in the 30th minute with a deftly executed finish from close range.
Channel forward Giuseppe Ambrosino then put Celtic back in front after 38 minutes with a powerful effort. Engels scored with a placed penalty in the 39th minute to extend the lead further. Referee David Dickinson went to the VAR system, which confirmed that the penalty was correctly awarded.
Channel forward Thibaut Klidjé gave Hibernian fans a glimmer of hope after 96 minutes with a fierce shot.
Popular manager Ryan Donachy joined Celtic in June 2025 and has been in charge for 13 months.

The match saw an intriguing clash of styles as Ryan Donachy's control possession approach overcame a Dundee United team favouring a wing play system. Wide Forward Jota gave Celtic the lead with a powerful close range effort in the 11th minute. Channel forward Giuseppe Ambrosino doubled Celtic's lead with a volley on 19 minutes. An error from Dundee United's Ante Matej Jurić allowed Ambrosino to score a low drive which hit the post on its way in. Ambrosino was deservedly pleased wit the strike and it was easily one of the highlights of the match.
Winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha completed the rout with an accurate finish into the bottom corner on 63 minutes. It was a superb solo effort and Balikwisha looked delighted.
William Hill Premiership
Both teams served up a game to remember as Celtic came out on top in this wild 4-3 goal-fest that also saw VAR utilised. Inside winger Ethan Ross got Falkirk off to a flyer by scoring a placed shot on 2 minutes. Channel forward Giuseppe Ambrosino then equalised for Celtic in the 37th minute with a close range finish which was timed impeccably.
Tireless defensive midfielder Arne Engels then put Celtic in front after 48 minutes with a penalty into the top corner. Referee Nick Walsh went to the VAR system, which confirmed that the penalty was correctly awarded. Falkirk's equaliser came through Ross MacIver as he seized on Álex Jiménez's mistake to score an accurate finish.
Ambrosino then added his 2nd goal of the game with a low drive on 62 minutes. The VAR system advised a change to referee Nick Walsh's decision to initially disallow the goal. Attacking midfielder Dylan Tait then equalised for Falkirk in the 74th minute with a powerful close range effort. It was a fine solo effort from Tait that gave his team a fighting chance of mounting a comeback. Ambrosino clinched the winner on 88 minutes with an accurate finish from inside the penalty area.
Ambrosino's impact delighted the fans with his late goal.
Celtic are currently on a forty-one match unbeaten run in the league stretching back to last season and the title contenders lie in 2nd place in the William Hill Premiership.

Tireless defensive midfielder Arne Engels gave Celtic the lead with a placed penalty in the 21st minute. Referee Matthew McDermid went to the VAR system, which confirmed that the penalty was correctly awarded. Winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha completed the scoring for Celtic with a powerful close range effort on 56 minutes.
Celtic have notched up three straight league wins and the title contenders occupy 2nd place in the William Hill Premiership.

Two goals from Giuseppe Ambrosino ensured Celtic moved to the top of the William Hill Premiership after a 5-2 victory over Motherwell on a soaking wet evening at Fir Park.
Channel forward Giuseppe Ambrosino got Celtic off to a flyer by scoring a placed shot into the bottom corner on 5 minutes. Full-back Daiki Hashioka then equalised for Motherwell in the 11th minute with a good header from just inside the six-yard box. An error from Motherwell's Calum Ward allowed Ambrosino to score a close range header. McGregor scored with a deflected volley from close range in the 31st minute to extend the lead further.
Central defender Craig Halkett pulled one back for Motherwell after 33 minutes with a penalty. Referee Duncan Nicolson went to the VAR system, which confirmed that the penalty was correctly awarded. Winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha then added to the lead with a skidding drive on 52 minutes. It was a sensational effort from Balikwisha and captured the attention of fans and pundits alike. Balikwisha completed the rout on 57 minutes with a cleanly struck effort from close to goal.

In a low key affair, quality was in short supply with the vast majority of shots failing to even hit the target.
