I am playing as Aston Villa in the prem. I like to often change the kit each season for more realism. Does anyone know how I would make my custom kits show in match play?

The kits showing in “match play” are 3D kits, and they are different from 2d kits. We have two sections for 3D kits:
FM05-24: https://sortitoutsi.net/graphics/style/8/3d-kits
FM26: https://sortitoutsi.net/graphics/style/40/unity-3d-kits

But why is the 3D kit not showing in the match play

there's usually 3 reasons why they don't show:
1. the default 3d kits in the database are a mess and need cleaning up. Especially in the Premier League in FM20-24 SI set up so many different default loadouts for clubs, that you need to clean up before custom 3d kits show. On custom databases, a lot of database creators didn't even enter kit details, so custom 3d kits won't show up either.
2. an error in the config file
3. in FM26 every graphics file needs a unique name. so if you have 2d kits for Villarreal and they're named 1777_home.png / 1777_away.png but your 3d kits are also named 1777_home.png / 1777_away.png they won't show up
