UPDATE DECEMBER 8th
A new update called 2026.01 was just published which will confuse some people.
To keep it really, really simple just take one of these two steps.
- If you have already downloaded "2026.00 complete" in December: Download the 2026.01 changes file
- If you haven't, then delete all previous faces and download “2026.01 complete”
If you're getting confused or your files are in a mess, just follow (2).
if you still find things difficult you're overcomplicating it, just follow (2) exactly and don't try and add extra steps.

Due to a bug in FM26 that means that two graphics cannot have the same name we have had to make the unfortunate decision to rename all our files to have a prefix of “face_”.
This change will break attempts to update the megapack.
To try and avoid confusion i've deleted the previously released 2026.00, 2026.01 and 2026.02 updates and rereleased a single “2026.00” pack with the updated file names that contains everything that used to be in 2026.00, 2026.01 and 2026.02.
The easiest fix is for everyone to redownload the 2026.00 complete pack, this will ensure your recent downloads are tracked so you know which updates you have and haven't downloaded.
Steps to take
- Delete any of our cut out faces you have already installed
- Go to the main Cut Out Faces page and download the Complete Pack
Do not make these common mistakes
- DO NOT just download the most recent changes file and try to install it, it won't work by itself.
- DO NOT just download the updated config.xml by itself, it will not work without renaming all 500,000+ PNG files.
- DO NOT download the complete file and then also download the changes file with the same number. The complete file contains everything you need.
FAQ
Why not wait for SI to fix the bug?
The game has been out for over a month and this hasn't been fixed yet. I also believe this bug was reported to SI by researchers who had access to the game weeks before it was first released on Steam, so its actually been longer than a month and still no fix or comment from SI (they never comment on graphics related content).
I'm still playing FM24 so this doesn't affect me
Right now we only release one pack which should work with both so unfortunately you also have to deal with this.
How do I use the FM Mod Loader to rename files?
After downloading there's a big “Prefix folder contents” button which will then guide you through the process.
My last download was 2026.00 or 2026.01 but not 2026.02
Just download the new 2026.00 complete pack
My last download was a 2025,XX version
Your options are (1) download the new 2026.00 complete pack or (2) download each individual changes file and then use the FM Mod Loader to rename the files.
Can I use the FM Mod Loader
Alternatively if you don't wish to redownload you can use the FM Mod Loader which has a function to bulk rename files and update the config.xml.
If something goes wrong with this please just (1) delete your existing faces and (2) redownload the Complete Pack rather than keep asking for support with what went wrong in your attempts to rename.
Can't I rename them myself without the mod loader?
You can try these scripts if you feel confident with computers.
Mac/Linux:

This is really a mess. Im playing FM 26. I download The complete pack 2026.00 13.83 gb last week. The name of the file use face on it, now theres an update 2026.01 200.85 mb. I download it and instal immediately on the existing folder. But when i check on the update file theres no face on the file name, the config also dont include face on the file. Now im really confuse, why the update not consistent with the complete pack. If the complete pack 2026.00 use face on the files, the update on 20206.01 should also use face on the files.

I just downloaded the 2026.01 complete pack, extracted it, and added it to my graphics folder. I've restarted my game multiple times but the player faces just don't seem to be loading. Any advice on how to fix this?
For additional context: I am on Mac, this is the first time I downloaded a face pack for FM26 (although I have one for FM24), and my logos pack I downloaded seems to be working fine (it's just the face pack that has issues)

None of the faces, iconfaces, and the config files follow the new naming scheme(face_xxx, iconface_xxx) in the 2026.01 update.

I have a similar situation on my Mac. But for me, only young players have the faces. Perhaps there is a conflict with other mods. I rolled back to 2026.00 for now.

Hello ! I just downloaded and extracted the latest update and it completely destroyed the faces for my team. I am playing with FCSB in the Romanian league and now none of my first team players have faces.

All: I am pretty confident an error/oversight has been made in the 2026.01 update pack, as the files do not adhere to the new naming conventions (and the config.xml file does not prefix the references with face_ as it should). As a result, anyone who installs 2026.01 will end up in the scenario some others have experienced, above, which is that all cut-out faces stop working.
I have flagged this to the relevant staff members. My advice for now is not to download 2026.01. For those who already have downloaded it, apologies for this inconvenience. We'll work to get a corrected update/config.xml file out as soon as we are able.

Like many other I downloaded the latest update which broke my ingame "faces". I deleted everything and redownloaded (by torrent) the mega pack (the one with faces in the name). But after downloading the first update (the 800 something MB one) it says the archive is corrupted.

For those who have already overridden the ‘complete pack’ XML with the one that comes with update pack 2026.01, the fastest way to get back to a mostly-working state is to grab the config.xml that is shared in the below post and use that.

This should get all of the faces from the 2026.00 complete pack working again. Those added by the 2026.01 pack won't be working yet - but that fix will get taken care of soon.

Hey, I need some help. I'm on update 2026.01 and verified that my files have the "face_" prefix as required. But the images still won't load in-game. Has anyone else experienced this?

As a workaround - you can rename all files in the update folder (before copying it to main pack) using FMMLoader26 application (option called “Prefix folder contents”), both older faces and update will work.

Apologies everyone this was my fault the build process not being properly updated to handle the renaming.
It should be fixed now if you redownload 2026.01.

after apply 2026.1 update, the faces number are 527.003 + 1 config file. It's correct?

To confirm had the complete December 00 pack before today, I've downloaded the changes pack and added it to the 00 pack. should every face in those folders now have the prefix on the files or just some? the original pack didn't seem to have it on all files but the changes pack does?

The new config alone won't work you'll still need the 2026.01 changes file, if you previously had the 2026.00 update.

I just downloaded the whole Mega pack 2026.01 last night and have been trying to get it work on FM2024. I have it extracted to the graphics folder and when i try to to get to update the skin in preferences it just not working. It says updating new data to skin etc and takes it time but when i go back in there no faces, not even blacked out faces - just a space. The logos seem to be working tho. I have tried extracting these two new config files as well. Still no faces 😢

I understand, I've the update installed, I just replaced the old config file with the one you put in this post, old faces from version 2026.00 are working, the new faces still not showing (like Abily for example)
I put the new config in the faces folder but i dont know where to put the other _MACOSX folder

Still not even played the game yet. Wont play it with no faces at all. This was supposed to tempt me back into buying FM26. Is there a setting off I'm missing? I'm sure there were teams that had some player faces in them even without the added content. If memory serves the Rangers save I did when first got the game had some players pictured. Even they are gone now.
Recovering from surgery and just want to play some FM.. Been waiting on a response since Monday. Making me wonder what is the point of being a Premium member. So frustrating when got nothing to do…
Think everything is where it supposed to be. I put that new .xml file into the faces folder and replaced the one already in there.
