Helping to fix duplicate players

Due to the update for 26.1 which added an extra 3000 players many of the youth, we've wound up with duplicate players that we have created as well as SI.

If you find a duplicate please follow these instructions to fix it

The player I am fixing in this situation is Robinho Junior Santos

(1) Find the real Robinho Junior Santos FM ID in the FM26 Pre Game Editor, FM26 Game or our FM26 Guides Database

Pre Game Editor

Search for Robinho, click his name and then the ID is shown at the top next to Unique ID

Full Game
Make sure preferences > detailed > audio & visual > show screen IDs in Title Bar to assist skinning is turned on

Search for the player and you will see the ID next to his name

 

Sort It Out SI DB

Use our search to find the player and then copy and paste his ID

 

(2) Visit the created players DB and search Santos by name or ID

(3) Find Robinho Junior

(4) Click on his name and then in the form inside his profile add the FM ID that you found in step (1) and click “SET FM ID”

 

Hi i dont know what happens but i think theres some players with their fm id already but they are still duplicated

When making a comment try and think things through from the perspective of the person helping you and make it as easy for them as possible, that way more people can be helped and things can be fixed quicker.

Which is easier

(1) You give a specifics players name and I can go and look at that specific player: Estimated time 5-10 seconds

(2) You say something vague such as “there are some players” and I have to go and look at every single player and hope I see the same players that you've seen. Estimated time 1 minute - 1 hour

Bueno de hecho no se si el error esta en los jugadores esto era para hacer una pregunta ya que cuando creo una partida con el parche ciertos jugadores como algunos de Universidad Catolica o Colo Colo por poner ejemplos me salen duplicados estos jugadores fueron creados en el parche de fm24 lo raro es que cuando voy al fm editor para buscarlos y eliminar los duplicados de la base de datos no aparecen su id supongo que es el antiguo pero no me deja eliminarlos por ejemplo Jose Salas, Jeffrey Sekgota, Bruno Torres y algunos mas la cosa es que no se si esto es un error del parche que aun no actualiza los id lo cual supongo que es eso pero prefiero confirmar con alguien que sabe mas de esto que yo

Well, actually, I'm not sure if the problem is with the players. I wanted to ask a question because when I create a game with the patch, certain players, like some from Universidad Católica or Colo Colo, for example, appear duplicated. These players were created in the FM24 patch. The strange thing is that when I go to the FM Editor to search for them and delete the duplicates from the database, their IDs don't appear. I suppose it's the old ID, but it won't let me delete them. For example, José Salas, Jeffrey Sekgota, Bruno Torres, and some others. The thing is, I don't know if this is a bug in the patch, that it hasn't updated the IDs yet, which I suppose is the case, but I'd prefer to confirm with someone who knows more about this than I do.

@Jxco I can only see one Bruno Torres, Jeffrey Sekgota and José Salas.

Please provide as much information as possible so people can actually help you, otherwise it's impossible.

I can't check the “some others” you've reported because you haven't given their names.

It's possible they exist twice under different spellings but you haven't provided any information like that.

I can't look up the IDs that you're referring to because you haven't provided the IDs.

I can't check if you're accidentally using multiple conflicting editor data files because you haven't provided a list of the editor data files you're using.

It's possible this was a bug in a version of the file from days or weeks ago, but I can't investigate that because you haven't told me when you started your save or if you've confirmed you're still seeing the bug in the latest version. From what I can tell the last time you downloaded the FM24 update was on November 6th? Is that correct? If so you should check if its already been fixed in the latest one before reporting the bug and forcing other people to go and check.

Can we also add a way to exclude created players from the data update? Like just an alternative fmf file within the download.

Just to confirm, I've gone in to the created version of Alex Peskovic and linked to the FM26 ID, so that specific one should be taken care of now.

@Footygamer - having done that, Alex Peskovic no longer appears on the list of newly-created players on the Pogon Szczecin club page (https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/team/1459), which is what I'd expect. However, the FM26 version of the player doesn't either (https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/person/2000518968), though I think that may be a site UI synchronisation thing. It should be noted that the FM26 version didn't appear in the Pogon Szczecin club page before I linked the ID, either.

Likewise, the newly-created player appears in the search but cannot be browsed to. Just mentioning in case that is unexpected behaviour and something you'd want to know about:

There is no need to double-post the same content/comment. I appreciate there was no explicit reply to your first post, however.

Can you please confirm which version of the game you are reporting this against? FM24 or FM26? This helps us identify where the fault is.

From a very brief check of the site's front-end data, I cannot see any additional instances of Abdul Aziz Issah. I know that he has been subject of multiple submissions in the past, but they look like they've been cleaned up. I'll check the raw FM24 data as a next step - in the meantime, if you can confirm the FM version, that'll help further.

…and just to follow up: I think I have found the duplicate. The created player had been named ‘Aziz Issah’ (https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-data-update/new-person/2100053909) but for some reason was not showing on the site's front-end. I could see him in the FM24 Data Update, though.

I have now linked this record to the FM UID of 2000370973, which should tackle the duplication that (I suspect) was present on the FM26 Data Update. I believe this will update overnight as part of the daily re-processing of that update.

This player is now not showing in game at all on FM24, has he been deleted?

Thanks for flagging these - I have now reconciled the duplicates and linked the players, meaning that they should appear (only once) in each of FM24 and FM26 when using the Data Update.

I found two players from Audax Italiano from Chile that are duplicated

Apologies, I've tried using the form, but other than a ‘Save’ option, I cannot seem to find anything to suggest duplicates, or submitting a new FM ID.

No worries at all - that ‘FM ID’ submission is, in fact, the way that you can indicate a duplicate. It is step #4 of the instructions in the opening post and it is done from the profile of the newly-created, duplicate player.

Essentially, we want to support the creation newly-created players who are in FM26 but not in FM24. To do this, we have a system whereby when a player is created who exists in FM26, by linking the created player to the ‘official’ FM26 version, we can then not have that player created in the FM26 Data Update, but still created in the FM24 Data Update. It also allows us to handle the rare cases where it is the other way around - they exist in FM24 but not in FM26.

In both of these cases, the newly-created versions of the players had mismatches in both the spelling of the name and the DOB and this is why the ‘duplicate checker’ system didn't spot it. I've just corrected the data and matched the IDs - so they should appear correctly in the next version of the Data Update.

@Footygamer - as a more general point, I think we should update the contents of the thread to advise community members to simply report the duplicates in here, so that the staff can take care of them…as I believe access to modify the FM ID is not visible to anyone other than moderators…which was a decision we took as there were many being applied incorrectly (so I don't think we should change it back).
