Players as free agents in latest data update

Multiple youth players from Inter Milan, like Issiaka Kamate and Matteo Cocchi, are suddenly free agents in the data update of 6 january and onward. Both in the free data update, aswell as in the enhanced one. In their personal page, it says they are in Inter Milan in both FM24 and the update (see attachment). It looks like they are free agents in FM26, but I am sure I am using the FM24 data update.

 

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong…but I do think there is a nuanced/odd something happening.

 

For your awareness, the core dataset that drives both the FM24 and FM26 Data Update is the same. So the fact that these players are listed as free agents on the site's data (specifically, when you look one of them up against the ‘main’ data which is the FM26 data) means it is logical that they are also set as free agents in the FM24 data. I think, since the release of the FM26 Data Update, the concept of looking up the ‘FM24 Update Database’, which is also branded the 24/25 Database in some places (i.e. the one your screenshot is from) is a bit of an obsolete method.

 

As to why these players are set as free agents, I am not sure, when they evidently are contracted to Inter Milan. I have not made the jump to FM26, but I do know that the Inter Milan Under-23 side were a late-ish addition to Serie C. I do not know if they are in FM26 as an Under-23 side, but my instincts tell me that perhaps these players were ‘aligned’ to the Under-23 side and some processing workflow/data reimport (to the site) has resulted in them being listed as free agents instead. Certainly, in FM24, the Under-23 side does not exist so even if they were listed against that side, they'd potentially become ‘free agents’ in FM24.

 

I think the solution is to submit Data Update changes to put the players in to the main Inter Milan club, which should return them to Inter's squad accordingly (in both games).

Good to hear I am probably not doing anything wrong. I haven't really played FM26 either yet, so I am not sure how the Inter youth team looks exactly in that game. I think it is due to FM26 being the main data, like you said, and it looks like they are free players on FM26 aswell. It could also be due to the youth team now being in Serie C. I have added the youth team to Serie C myself in the editor and some people will then suddenly be on the B-team. Only strange thing is that in the data update before the 6th of january, they were in the Inter squad and not as free agents, so something changed with the january 6/7 update.

 

I will see if I can fix it.
