Why can't I score goals!?

So, I've been playing FM for as long as I can remember now... and I've never struggled to score goals as much as this game (FM20).

I play around with my tactics every now and again and give them several games for the players to get used to them. I create a lot of chances and have lots of posession. Defensively, I'm doing pretty well but I've just realised I've only scored 12 goals in 14 games in the league. I've only conceded 6, so I'm doing ok in the league (5th/6th).

I'm playing as West Ham in 2032 and have a team of regens. My strikers have very good stats, (finishing and composure minimum 15).

I play a 4-2-3-1 formation with a complete forward/advanced forward, two inside forwards, a attacking playmaker and to CMs set to deep lying playmakers.

My tactics are attacking and have wing backs also set auto as well. But my players just can't score...


Is it the math engine? I started this game several months ago and wonder if the latest patches have applied to it?

Or is there something else?

I've tried setting more training schedules to finishing (Chance conversion/creating) but still doesn't make a difference.

I even had a striker that won the golden boot a few seasons in a row, but even then he only managed 20 or so and went many games without scoring at times.

My new £120m striker went around 15 games without scoring as well. lods of one on ones created (and I know that was a major issue in early releases). but I'd like to think that has been fixed now... Are the major patches not save game compatible!?


Any advice would be great. As I said, I'm creating chances, but just not taking them.

I'm having the same problem, with a different set up. I'm 8yrs into a career and my team has just when the EPL, which is great, but they are so boring. Last season I won the league scoring just 66 goals. At the start of the next season I decided to change my tactics and be more attacking, I also splashed out on Rodyrgo. But things are no better - worse even. I'm creating hundreds of chances - 35 shots at home against Chelsea, 17 on target... one goal, and that was from a penalty.

I've tweaked my tactics, played very attacking against weak teams (like Basel in the CL) but no luck.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm dying of boredom here...
