The Reds make it 8 wins from 8 to remain top of the table

7th September 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Studley Sports & Social Club

Feckenham 1-2 Redditch United

On the result.

It's a good result for us on the road. The weather made it very difficult out there today, just rained all day and the pitch was worse for wear. In the end we showed enough to get the win and on another day we'd have been settling for a point. It's not quite 6-0 like last time out, but it's a valuable 3 points and I'm happy with the fight shown to get over the line in tough conditions.

On beginning the season with 8 wins from 8 games.

If you told me this was how the season would start I'd have laughed at you and then called the police to have you checked on. It's been a superb start to the campaign and I'm just delighted for the lads. I see how hard the boys have been working each day and it's just great to see them get the rewards for the hard work they're putting in.

On the impact that being professional and training every day has had.

Well, I think we're seeing it play out in front of our eyes each week. Some of the games have been won late, some have been from behind and then some have just been very closely fought. Some of these boys have never been involved at a professional club or academy before, so it's a huge change training every day. I think it's a huge advantage for us and credit has to go to the owner Jamie Sanderson who has put money into upgrading facilities but is also paying the wages every week and the amount for this level is quite substantial.

Magic of the FA Cup appears as Shaun Rogers goal sinks Leek Town

10th September 2067

By the Press Team

The Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round

Full Time from Harrison Park

Leek Town 0-1 Redditch United

On the result.

It's an absolutely brilliant result. Absolutely delighted for the lads, they really worked so hard out there today and that showing was full of bravery and courage. We knew we'd have our backs against the wall at times coming here today and the boys all stood up to be counted today. Very proud of the performance and the result is huge, we weren't at our footballing best, but we fought for everything and got the rub of the green. We showed we can mix it with a side that's 2 divisions higher than us in the football pyramid.

On the winner from Shaun Rogers.

It was a great goal, a fabulous cross from Ben Roberts and a brave header from Shaun to stick his head in where it hurts. He's got his reward and it was almost the perfect stage of the game to score. It kind of rattled them and they were almost frozen thinking they'd plenty of time left to respond, but very quickly there's only 10 or 15 minutes to go and we never looked like conceding late.

On being just 2 wins away from FA Cup history.

It would be a massive achievement for the lads and the club. We've obviously never made it into the FA Cup competition proper, I think the best we ever did was get to the last qualifying round. I'd be lying if I said we'd not thought about it or spoken about it behind closed doors, but at the end of the day we just need to keep working hard, keep plugging away and take it game by game. I'm sure the draw will once again pit us against someone in a higher league or away from home, it's been very unkind to date.

Grantley Bittner goal on stroke of half time enough to see off Coventrians

17th September 2067

By the Press Team

Isuzu FA Vase Second Qualifying Round

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 1-0 Coventrians

On the result.

Probably not a fair result on the balance of play if I'm being completely honest. We weren't better than them out there today, but we did battle and fight well today, so I think that's maybe helped get us over the line to advance into the draw for the next round.

On a third narrow win in the last 10 days.

Sometimes you're going to have it go all your way and that's what happened when we won 6-0. Now I think teams are very cautious and they are setting up to try combat the good things we do. The weather has also been rotten, so pitches aren't exactly the best surfaces at this point in time, but either way we've been a little off. Thankfully we've still been able to win games, so that's very pleasing.

On another clean sheet for Brandon McKnight.

I'm glad you've asked about that because I feel we do so much talking about the lads scoring the goals down the other end we forget about the defence and Brandon in goal. He's been superb for me ever since he arrived at the club and his recent form has been stellar. We've the best defence in the league at the moment and he's been a pivotal part of that.

Kurtis Lancaster scores late equaliser to keep Emirates FA Cup dream alive

24th September 2067

By the Press Team

The Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round

Full Time from The Dene

Hambleden 2-2 Redditch United

On the result.

We deserved something from the game today and I'm glad we've at least got that late goal to force a replay. We had the better chances today and created more too, but it looked like they might beat us as the game ticked on. Thankfully we've had that euphoric moment at the end and you can see what it meant to the players to keep the FA Cup dream alive.

On the impact that late goal may have in the replay.

Look it could prove to be a huge moment or it might mean nothing. The players were brilliant today, we were better than a team that's playing two levels above us and I think if we can recreate that performance at home in a few days time, we'll beat them.

On the set piece that secured the draw.

We do try practice these things during the time between game to game and I'm delighted to see it pay off. Everybody at that stage of the game is expecting Ben Roberts to lump the free kick into the box, but he's passed off to the left to Jamie Kerr, who has done superbly well to pick out Kurtis, who turns in one motion while controlling the ball and on his weaker left foot smashed the ball into the far top corner, it was an amazing goal and hopefully we can take the belief from getting this result into the replay at the Valley Stadium.

The Reds equalise late in injury time and win on penalties in Emirates FA cup shock

27th September 2067

By the Press Team

The Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round Replay

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 1-1 Hambleden

Redditch United advance winning 5-4 on penalties

On the result.

Huge result and I'm so delighted with the performance. We expected a response from them after the first game, but we matched them, we were almost at our very best today too. The late goal to send it to penalties just shows the level of character in this side, I'm so proud. That's twice in a few days now that we've scored very late to avoid defeat and that's very hard to coach, the players generally either have that about them or they don't. This group seems special in that regard, they just keep going until the very end.

On the injury time equaliser.

Absolute chaos, what a moment for the fans, the players and the staff. We all lost our minds a little bit, which I understand, it shows the passion around the club. From there we knew we'd be going to penalties and you hope that late equaliser has taken the fight out of them and not zapped all of our energy. Thankfully we've got the job done and it's onto the fourth qualifying round now.

On the Brandon McKnight penalty save.

It's a massive moment in the penalty shootout and just a fantastic save to be honest. Usually when it comes to penalties we see keepers keep out a weak penalty or a badly placed one, but that penalty was low, hard and fairly well placed, it's just a sensational bit of goalkeeping from Brandon and it set it up for Darren Saunders to score the winning spot kick.

On the draw for The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round.

It's been a kinder draw in comparison to the last few rounds. A team that's playing at our level in the football pyramid but make no mistake they'll be well up for it. The game has a huge reward at stake and they'll be at home. They'll be highly motivated and it's going to be a very big game for both clubs, hopefully we'll be able to go there and perform at our very best.

The Reds return to league action with emphatic win at the Valley Stadium

1st October 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 4-1 North Leigh

On the result.

A very pleasing result when you consider how close the game was. I think the 4-1 scoreline was a bit harsh on them to be honest, we deserved to win, but I think 4-1 flattered us a bit and made it seem like we absolutely hammered them. I think the difference today was taking our chances, I think we took every good chance that we created and that was the difference between the sides today.

On the man of the match performance from Chris McFarlane.

Probably another reason why we won today was the performance from Chris. Scored a goal, made a goal, actually probably made two, but they probably won't give him the assist for the Ben Roberts goal as a defender got a slight touch on the cross before Ben volleyed it home. Chris was definitely on a different level out there and drove the team to victory with his performance.

On returning to league action after 4 cup games on the bounce.

It's nice to get back to league duties, there's not as much stress I feel, like it's not a do or die affair like a cup game, so it's different. I was pleased with how the players adapted and how we were professional during this game. We took our chances and were always in control once we'd established that 3-0 lead before half time.

On starting the season with 9 wins from 9 games.

To be honest it's been an amazing start to the season in the league and even in the cups. I don't think I could have asked for more if I'm being honest and whilst it does add some pressure after winning all your games it's good. I feel like it's really motivated the players to keep going and I think they've taken a lot of belief and confidence from the opening few months of the campaign.

On Christoph Siebenhandl making his debut and scoring.

It was great to be able to bring him on for his professional debut and was just real Roy of the Rovers stuff to see him score within a few minutes of coming on. To be honest we were surprised to hear he'd become available and that Barnet weren't going to keep him on, so we were delighted to have brought him in. He's a young raw 18-year-old, but he's got a lot of potential.

Siebenhandl the super sub as The Reds equalise late to force Emirates FA Cup replay

8th October 2067

By the Press Team

The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round

Full Time from Goverseth Park

Foxhole Stars 2-2 Redditch United

On the result.

We probably should have won it if I'm being honest, we were the better side and had the better chances, but we failed to take them. It also didn't help that they got a goal, sat back and just soaked up the pressure. When they got that second on the hour mark you're thinking it's going to be that type of game, one of those days and it might have been for another side, but credit to the boys I made a quadruple substitution right after they'd made it 2-0 and we've replied almost right away. It took a little longer to get the equaliser but we got it in the end and we'll head into the replay hopeful we can beat them in front of our home fans at the Valley Stadium.

On yet another late comeback in the FA Cup.

I'd rather we didn't need to pull off such heroics, but at the end of the day it's also very pleasing to know the boys never ever give up on themselves. They keep fighting until the very end and it's not a coincidence now at this stage that we've been able to repeat these late comebacks. It shows the mentality and spirit in that dressing room, I'm very proud of them and their attitude when behind in games.

On Christoph Siebenhandl coming off the bench again to score.

I think it took him 4 minutes in our last game to score coming off the bench and he's done it in half the time here today. It was an absolute gamble bringing him on with about 3 minutes left on the clock, but full credit to him as he's gone out there and got that all important goal. If he does that a few more times he'll quickly become our very own Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Reds make history as they qualify for the first round of Emirates FA Cup

11th October 2067

By the Press Team

The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round Replay

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 1-0 Foxhole Stars

On the result.

A very close game and if I'm being honest, we could have been beaten today, on another day those saves from Brandon don't go onto the post or crossbar, they go in. I'll take the bit of luck and I'm thrilled we're into the hat for the draw. I'll sit down with a beer, some pizza and watch it, it'll be an enjoyable experience to see who we're drawn against, I just hope it's at home for our supporters.

On the 6 changes made to the starting side today.

A few were made to freshen the side up and a few others were made because of injuries or knocks. You can't just play the same side each week and expect to have the legs to play good football for 90 minutes. We needed to rotate the squad today and thankfully we've been able to win the game. It just shows that we've got some good options that we can chose from when in need of freshening things up.

On becoming the first manager to lead Redditch United into the FA Cup in our 176 year existence.

It hasn't quite sunk in, but what an achievement. Not so much for me, but the players, unbelievable. It's not like we'd an easy draw in terms of teams we played or being at home every single tie. We've been absolutely tremendous and I'm delighted. Hopefully we can draw a bigger side and who knows maybe just maybe we can see the magic of the FA Cup at work again.

On the celebrations at full time.

It just shows you what it means for the staff, players and fans. Everyone was absolutely thrilled we'd managed to win the game and advance to the FA Cup first round, what a feeling and again what an achievement by the boys.

The Reds win on penalties as Brandon McKnight once again the shootout hero

15th October 2067

By the Press Team

Isuzu FA Vase First Round

Full Time from the Castletown Recreation Ground

Wetheriggs United 1-1 Redditch United

Redditch United advance winning 4-3 on penalties

On the result.

We deserved to win today, but their keeper had a very good game and just kept denying us time after time, chance after chance. You really did think as time ticked away that they'd hold on, but then Ashley Roberts scores that insane strike from the edge of the area. I'm not even sure what he's doing up there at that stage of the game, he was supposed to be playing as a defensive midfielder as we changed our tactic, pushed more players forward in search of the equaliser, but I'm glad he felt the need to push forward. The gamble really paid off and what an incredible finish. It's not often you see a defender smash the ball into the top corner like that.

On another late goal to save a cup game.

It's becoming a bit of an unwanted habit in ways, but also it's dramatic and highly entertaining. Also, it's good to know the boys just keep on fighting and we've already pulled off some miracle comebacks a few times this season.

On the penalty saves by Brandon McKnight.

He's making a real habit of saving penalties and I'm delighted he's done it again today. We've won the 2 shootouts we've been involved in and he's faced 10 spot kicks and saved 3 of them. He's a keeper you definitely want in your side if things need to be decided from the spot and he won us the game today with those 2 marvelous saves. He just always seems to go the right way and it heaps pressure on whoever is standing in front of him taking the penalty.

The Reds go 5 points clear at the top following Caine Ollis injury time winner

19th October 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 2-1 Hardwicke

On the result.

We've had some luck with winning this game, but I'm obviously delighted by the result. Winning our home games is so important and we weren't at our best today, but we've found a way to get over the line. Credit to Hardwicke out there today as they really made it difficult for us and their performance didn't resemble that of a side that's fighting relegation.

On more penalty heroics from Brandon McKnight.

I mean at this stage you've just got to admit he's a fantastic goalkeeper and has a real unique ability to save penalties. That save has come at a huge moment in the game, last 10 minutes of the game and if it goes in your money is on Hardwicke winning from there. Thankfully for us Brandon has saved it and then we've scored late to complete the dramatic ending to this Wednesday night fixture.

On the injury time winner from Caine Ollis.

Absolute scenes at the full-time whistle, what an ending to the game. He's come off the bench and really delivered in that moment for us.

On moving 5 points clear at the top of the table.

It's a brilliant place to be after 10 games have been played. I feel like we've outperformed any early season predictions and we're in a superb spot to chase promotion for a fourth consecutive season. There are still 28 games to play, but we've started fantastically well and hopefully can take the momentum we've created to continue picking up positive results home and away.

On the resigning of Crossley Byles.

An absolute no brainer when the opportunity arose. Crossley was a very important player for me the season he was at the club and I'm delighted to welcome him back. Having a player that can play on the left or right wing and up front is a real bonus for any manager, I'm really delighted to welcome him back after 2 seasons away and can't wait to see him play over the coming week as he regains match fitness and sharpness. He's a quality player who could make all the difference as we chase promotion again this season.

Kurtis Lancaster ends league goal drought as The Reds make it 11 wins from 11

22nd October 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from Glasshouse Park

Kenilworth Wardens 1-3 Redditch United

On the result.

It's another great result away from home and I'm so pleased with the performance. We definitely deserved to win today, we were better throughout the game and in truth we could have scored a few more if we'd taken our chances.

On Kurtis Lancaster ending his wait for a league goal.

It's been a bit of a frustrating period for Kurtis. A few niggly injuries, so a very stop start beginning to the season, but you could see his quality today. He took both his goals very well and he was unhappy I took him off, but as I said to him we've a huge game on the weekend against Yeovil Town and I'd never forgive myself if he'd picked up a knock that ruled him out of that game.

On our next game away to Yeovil Town in the first round of the FA Cup.

The excitement levels will really start to build now and it'll be a fantastic away day for the supporters that make the trip. We're under no illusions as to how difficult a game this will be, they're a League One side, sit in mid table and have won their last 3 games in a row, so they're in great form. We'll go there and give it a go and hopefully the magic of the FA Cup favours us. We've nothing to lose and they've all the pressure on them to record a comfortable win, they're expected to beat us and beat us handsomely by a few goals.

Yeovil Town win but The Reds make them sweat in proud performance

29th October 2067

By the Press Team

The Emirates FA Cup First Round

Full Time from Huish Park

Yeovil Town 2-1 Redditch United

On the result.

I know we've lost the game and for large parts we had to defend under heavy pressure, but I'm just so proud of these players, no words will sum up how proud of them I feel right now. This entire journey in the FA Cup has been sensational, we've shown so much fight and spirit to reach the first round and today was no different. I'm so proud of the lads and I know the supporters are too.

On taking a shock early lead.

Ask any manager coming into a game like this and they'll tell you that was the perfect start, you couldn't hope for a better one. It really set the game up to be a fantastic contest, we had something to defend and protect, whilst it really put them under more pressure and I know we couldn't see it through, but we gave Yeovil a real scare today and did ourselves proud.

On the 4-minute period that changed the game on the hour mark.

Look it's not what you like to see, but I thought afterwards we responded really well. Conceding the 2 goals really quickly could have seen heads drop and them pour on the misery with a few more goals, but the lads really stood up and were counted. We could have snatched an equaliser late on, but it wasn't to be. I think if we'd held out for another 10 or so minutes maybe we'd have pulled off the big shock, but when they got the first goal there was a huge burst of energy from them spurned on by that home crowd. I've not seen the penalty back yet, so I'm not sure if it was the right call, but regardless it's done now and there's no changing it. It's a fair result given how much they created today, but it does hurt a little knowing we were probably right on the verge of seeing off a League One side in the FA Cup.

On a message for the travelling away supporters.

Just thank you from the bottom of my heart. You've helped the players pull off some big shocks and big late comebacks in this competition this season and you were right behind them again today. I'm proud of the players performance today, but also so proud to say we've some of the best fans you'll see up and down the United Kingdom, no doubt about that.

Crossley Byles turns on the style for The Reds in Isuzu FA Vase demolition

5th November 2067

By the Press Team

Isuzu FA Vase Second Round

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 5-0 Melbourne Dynamo

On the result.

Exceptional performance from the lads and a really dominant victory. We really never let up and once we went ahead, we didn't take the foot off the gas, a great professional performance and I'm very happy with the 5-0 win.

On the importance of bouncing back after the defeat to Yeovil Town in the FA Cup First Round.

It was important and it also weirdly wasn't. The Yeovil Town game whilst disappointing to not get a result, we knew we were always going to be up against it and it was kind of a free hit. Today was a reversal of roles to be honest, we were favourites and the pressure was on us to get the win. Thankfully we've gone out there and won very comfortably, with a really good performance.

On the performance from Crossley Byles who scored twice today.

I only recently spoke about how delighted I was to welcome him back to the club and you could see why today. He's a fabulous footballer and a good person to have around the club too. He's scored twice today and assisted for the other 2 goals too, a stellar performance and he was fully deserving of the man of the match award today.

The Reds put six past Cheltenham Civil Service in ruthless performance

8th November 2067

By the Press Team

Marsh Sports (UHL) Supplementary Cup Second Round

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 6-0 Cheltenham Civil Service

On the result.

A fantastic result and probably one of the most ruthless performances I've seen from our players in my time in charge. From start to finish we were just different gravy and I think we were really good value for the 6-0 win. On another day it could have been double digits.

On another rampant goalscoring performance.

It's always very pleasing when the side is playing with confidence and freedom which results in plenty of goals. Hopefully we've not used up all of our goals over the last 2 games, but yeah honestly, it's a great feeling as a manager when you've players scoring plenty of goals.

On braces for Darren Saunders and Caine Ollis today.

Very impressive performance from Darren who started the game and scored some very nice goals. Impressive from Caine to be able to come off the bench with only around 20 minutes to play and to have that kind of impact. He's definitely caused me a headache on whether he starts the next game after such an impressive cameo. I know he'll want to, but there's also massive value in knowing you've a player who can produce off the bench late in a game if needed.

The Reds make it 12 league wins on the bounce with comfortable win on the road

19th November 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from Haywood Way

Aylesbury Vale Dynamos 0-4 Redditch United

On the result.

Another great performance, another clean sheet and another game in which we showed some really good finishing up front. All things considered it's a very good day out for us and hopefully we'll take that momentum into the game against Brimscombe & Thrupp on Tuesday night at the Valley Stadium. They're third in the league and in great form, so we'll need to be at our best to beat them.

On taking the lead in the opening minute.

It was a huge boost to start the game with a goal in the opening minute and whilst it took a little longer to get another we settled into the game, dominated possession and looked the better side for large periods of the game. Scoring that early goal really set us up to go on and win that game today in such impressive fashion. Credit to Kurtis for taking such an early opportunity so well.

On the rumours linking him with the vacant manager role at Mansfield Town.

It's the first I'm hearing about it to be honest, should I be expecting a call from them? They're in the Championship aren't they, I don't think they'll be looking at a manager in Level 9 to step up into that role if I'm being honest. It's a nothing rumour if you ask me.

Lancaster and Byles on target as The Reds come from behind to win

22nd November 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 2-1 Brimscombe & Thrupp

On the result.

It's a significant result considering the positions of both sides in the table. It creates a little more daylight between us and them. It was also really important to continue our good home form, that's been a really stable foundation for us over the years and thankfully we have been consistent this season in taking full advantage at home. Teams don't enjoy the trip here and long may it last.

On coming from behind to win.
Another game that you can see our spirit on full display. I think they've basically scored with their only effort on target in the entire game and it was a big setback that came completely against the run of play. We've done it all season, but it was very impressive to see the lads rally today and get the come from behind win. I would have liked it to have been a bit more comfortable in the end, but we were professional in seeing out the game.

On the performance from Darren Saunders.
That performance today from Darren was huge for us. He's made both of the goals and really made the chances so easy for Kurtis and Crossley to convert. Over the last few weeks Darren has really been in fine form and his performance today was crucial.

On the injury to Kurtis Lancaster.
According to the physio and doctor it's a bad one. An ankle injury, might need surgery, might not. He'll go for scans and we'll see what comes of that. Best case scenario if surgery isn't needed the physio and doctor say a month, maybe a little longer.

On opening a 7-point gap at the top of the table.

It's a massive boost for us, putting points on the board and slowly increasing the pressure on Mayfield. I'm naming them because they seem to be the team that's going to challenge us for the title and automatic promotion. Any other season and they'd be top, but we've just been absolutely fantastic since the season started back at the end of July.

Coleview offer little resistance as Siebenhandl inspires The Reds to big win

26th November 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Isuzu FA Vase Third Round

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 4-1 Coleview

On the result.

A really comfortable win in the end and I'm happy with the result, especially given the amount of rotation we did today.

On the performance from Christoph Siebenhandl.

Absolutely brilliant, but that's what I've come to expect from him. He's been fantastic whether it's a late cameo off the bench or when starting. He's been a brilliant signing for us and he's a much appreciated part of this squad.

On our chances of winning the FA Vase Cup.

We've as good a chance as anyone else in my opinion. You always hope the draw is good, the difference getting a home draw instead of an away draw can really make all the difference. On our day though, home or away, we'd back ourselves to beat anyone in this competition if we turn up and perform to the best of our ability.

Top of the table clash ends level as The Reds come from behind to secure point

30th November 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Ashbourne Recreation Ground

Mayfield 1-1 Redditch United

On the result.

I'll take it, but I do believe we did enough to win that game, but away from home in a top of table clash you take the point.

On the equaliser from captain Scott Haverty.

One of those moments when you're almost pinching yourself if I'm being honest and I mean no disrespect to Scott, but of all the players on the pitch he's up there as one of the least likely to score and a header at that. He doesn't score many, that's like his fourth goal in well over 60 appearances for the club, but what a time to get it. You could see from his passionate celebration just how much it meant to him.

On our winning streak coming to an end after 14 games.

I'm not even that disappointed, I'm just really proud of the players for producing such an amazing run and to win our opening 13 games on the bounce is just exceptional. It's set us up to potentially achieve a fourth successive promotion and that would be such a huge deal for the club. So yeah, I'm just really proud of the run and hopefully we can start a new winning run now.

On the importance of avoiding defeat in this top of the table clash.

Pretty important, a really big result. As I said before you take that away from home in this sort of game and it could be a bitter blow for them, only time will tell, but we've seen it happen before when teams have failed to beat us and their form takes a dip. If that is to happen, we need to make sure we take full advantage by continuing to produce good performances and win games.

The Reds take full advantage of Mayfield slip up to go 10 clear at the top

3rd December 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 2-1 Steventon

On the result.

It's a great result, especially with Mayfield suffering defeat. To win here and take full advantage of that is really big and really pleasing. We're now 10 points clear at the top of the table and in a superb position approaching the halfway mark of the campaign.

On the impact from Chris McFarlane off the bench.

He's changed the game, there's no other way to describe his performance today. Comes on in the 59th minute and within 10 minutes he's setup the breakthrough for Crossley and then scored too. It's a massive contribution from Chris off the bench.

On the reaction at full time upon hearing Mayfield had lost 6-2 to Stonehouse Town.

The players were absolutely chuffed, a lot of smiles and high fiving in that changing room when we heard that result, it made the win today all that more important. I'm happy we've taken advantage of it too, but I'm keen to stay composed and remember we're not even at the halfway mark of the campaign. There's a lot of football to be played, so let's refocus and take it game by game.

Elvis Joseph scores on his birthday as The Reds win at Lonsdale Meadow

10th December 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from Lonsdale Meadow

Oakham United 0-2 Redditch United

On the result.

Another win, a clean sheet and another game on the road done and dusted. We're approaching the halfway mark of the league campaign and we're in a very strong position. If you'd told me we'd be in this position back during pre-season I would have a very hard time believing you, but credit to the lads they've been absolutely fantastic in almost every game we've played.

On Elvis Joseph scoring on his birthday.

Fantastic for Elvis and fantastic timing for us. It came at a crucial time in the game too, at 1-0 you're always in danger, you know a single moment of magic or a mistake and it can be really costly but getting that second goal really killed the game off. From there it was all about managing the contest and making sure we did so in a professional manner.

On the recent leak from Burnley Football Club regarding the vacant manager role.

I can't control what people say or do at other clubs, certainly can't control what the media do or don't write. As of today, there's been no contact with Burnley Football Club from me or anyone at the club. If there's discussions to be had, they might happen, but I'm extremely happy at the club and it'd take a something very big to make me consider leaving.

The Reds make it 3 wins on the bounce with comfortable win over Worcester United

14th December 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 2-0 Worcester United

On the result.

I'm happy with that result. The weather had the potential to make things very difficult today, but we rose above it and started well. The early goal was really a big moment, it just helped us settle. I was hopeful we'd score another a little earlier to make it more comfortable, but in the end we did enough today. I don't recall them really threatening us all that much throughout the game.

On maintaining our lead at the top of the table.

It's a superb place to be at this stage of the season and with the ability in this squad I'm quite confident we know what it takes to see that the job gets done. It'll be tough, it's a long season and we're only just nearly halfway through, but this squad is absolutely capable of winning this league and securing a fourth consecutive promotion. Anything less after the start we've made would be a failure.

On persistent speculation linking him with a move to either Burnley or Bolton Wanderers.

As I've said before I'm very happy here and it would take something really big to make me consider leaving. There's been contact between the clubs and our chairman, who credit to him said he wants me to stay but would understand from a personal point of view if I left. I mean those clubs mentioned are in League One and the Championship, it's a huge step up, but again as I've said I'm very happy here, we're building something really special.

Goal from Chris McFarlane enough for The Reds to go 12 points clear at the top

17th December 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Edinburgh Player Field

Elmhurst 0-1 Redditch United

On the result.

It's a great result for us today, especially when you take into consideration the fact Mayfield have dropped more points. It was a tight game for large parts, they were very well organised and it made it tough to create clear cut chances. In the end though we found a way to make the breakthrough and I'm particularly pleased we kept the clean sheet to secure victory.

On the goal from Chris McFarlane.

Superbly taken goal, the finish was superb, he took his time and went across the keeper from a tight angle. His run and first touch really made the goal and also credit to Crossley Byles for playing a superb pass to cut the defence open. It's no real surprise that we were able to catch them on the counter when they did venture forward, it felt like it was the only time they did in that first half and it cost them.

On the gap at the top of the Hellenic Football League Premier Division table.

It's an excellent position to be in for us. 12 points clear after 18 games and we've won every game except for the away trip to play Mayfield. I don't expect us to win every game this season going forward, we'll surely drop points here and there, but being 12 points clear is always a massive boost. We'll keep taking things game by game, but we're very much in control of our own destiny and a fourth successive promotion is really on the cards for us. It would be a fantastic reward for the players hard work, the fans fantastic support and the investment from the owner. It's my job to ensure we remained focused on the task ahead and make sure we achieve that promotion.

Sensational Siebenhandl scores hat-trick as The Reds make it 5 wins in a row

20th December 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 3-0 Cheltenham Civil Service

On the result.

A very pleasing result and another very good performance. There was no doubt who deserved in the end to win today and we could have had more goals. Another clean sheet is also pleasing. It was a very complete and professional performance.

On the man of the match performance from the hat-trick hero Christoph Siebenhandl.

It's a superb individual performance and I'm delighted for Christoph. He's had to be patient and wait behind Kurtis Lancaster, Grantley Bittner and Crossley Byles, but he's always performed whether it's only a few minutes off the bench or when he gets a start. He's becoming a really key player in the squad and he was ruthless today in scoring the chances he got.

On keeping clean sheets in our last 4 league games.

It's been a fantastic run from our defenders and goalkeeper. Keeping clean sheets gives you such a great platform, you really only need one moment, one chance and you can win a game. It's definitely a great run to be on and I think we've kept about 8 clean sheets already this season, which is a huge part of our success and hopefully we can continue being strong at the back as the campaign goes on.

On winning 5 games on the bounce since the draw away to Mayfield.

A great response from the lads after we failed to win that one. It's really heaped the pressure on Mayfield and we've been able to extend our lead at the top. I'm so proud of the players for dusting themselves down, getting refocused and just continuing work hard every day in training. We've been very deserving of the run and results we've had since that draw.

Christoph Siebenhandl the hero again with 98th minute winner

27th December 2067

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from Oldens Lane

Stonehouse Town 2-3 Redditch United

On the result.

It's a great result given the performance tonight. We weren't really at the races for large parts of that game tonight, but somehow, we've come away with the 3 points and I'm delighted about that. We'll need to improve next time out.

On the performance.

Look as I said we weren't at the races for large parts of that game tonight. We lacked energy, we lacked any real type of penetration in attack and were poor in possession too. The goal from Jamie Kerr was an unbelievable strike, 999 times that doesn't go in, but tonight was the night, luckily for us. The winner came as late as you can really get a winner, it was lucky.

On the late winner.

A really big moment, especially when you consider we were second best tonight. We played poorly and still managed to win. Winning late like that too is a big boost, it's euphoric and the boys are just buzzing in the changing rooms right now. It'll be tough to sleep tonight with all the adrenaline coursing through our veins, it's a fantastic result given our performance.

The Reds win on penalties as Brandon McKnight saves two spot kicks

31st December 2067

By the Press Team

Marsh Sports (UHL) Supplementary Cup Quarter Final

Full Time from Steventon Green

Steventon 1-1 Redditch United

Redditch United advance winning 4-3 on penalties

On the result.

It's a real relief we've been able to emerge victorious after the penalty shootout. We were certainly the better side in the 90 minutes, dominated possession, created the chances to win the game but just didn't take them. You begin to fear the worst when they get the late goal and it's their only real opportunity in the entire game. Thankfully we've done the job in the penalty shootout.

On the goalkeeping heroics from Brandon McKnight.

Look it's a real boost for the side going into a penalty shootout knowing Brandon is on our side and not against us. He's shown how good he is facing penalties a few times already this season and he's once again delivered for us in a big moment.

On looking ahead to 2068.

New Year but hopefully not a new us. We want to continue on the good work in 2068. This year has been a really good time for the club, we've achieved a lot and we're building for the future. We've obviously been doing well in the league and cups, so hopefully that'll continue. More of the same in 2068 and I'll be very happy. On and off the pitch the future of the club looks very bright.

McKnight a hero again as The Reds win on penalties in Isuzu FA Vase Fourth Round

7th January 2068

By the Press Team

Isuzu FA Vase Fourth Round

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 2-2 Wallington

Redditch United advance winning 9-8 on penalties

On the result.

That game was a really close fought battle and maybe we were just the better side, but it's a coin flip to be honest. In the end I'm delighted we've won and advanced to the next round. Credit to Wallington they were exceptional today and on another day they'd be advancing and we'd be out, so yeah, very pleased we've been able to beat them today.

On Grantley Bittner coming off the bench to level the game.

You're always hoping when you need to change a game that someone sitting on the bench is capable of doing so and today Grantley was that man. He's been on the pitch a few minutes and the first opportunity that's come his way he's taken. It's a huge moment in the game and I think we were unfortunate not to have gone on and won it in the remaining 20 minutes of normal time. It was a big moment for us to level the game obviously, but it's a big moment for him too as he's gone, I think it's 8 or 9 games without a goal now and every striker needs goals. He'll be the first to tell you that he needed that for his confidence.

On Brandon McKnight scoring a penalty and then saving the next penalty to win the shootout.

We've had 2 penalty shootouts in the space of a week and he's been the hero in both games. The shootout was getting tense, I mean after 20 penalties there's a lot of tension, but credit to all the players who stepped up, most of those penalties were unstoppable. Thankfully we've got, in my opinion, one of the best keepers at this level and he's particularly good at saving spot kicks.

The Reds beat English Bicknor on the road as Siebenhandl scores brace

11th January 2068

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the English Bicknor Village Hall

English Bicknor 2-3 Redditch United

On the result.

A good result on the road in a game we just about edged. At 3-1 you're thinking it's game over, but credit to English Bicknor they responded quite well in that last 15 or so minutes and they could have snatched a draw in the end. I'm grateful we've managed to hold on and pick up the win, we deserved it, but only just.

On the emergence of Christoph Siebenhandl.

He's honestly been fantastic since he joined the club. He was a real asset to have coming off the bench when we needed a goal and often delivered, but since we've had a few injuries up front, he's stepped up and he's turned into a key first team player now. I can't really drop a striker who is scoring goals and I think that's 7 goals in his last 5 appearances in all competitions.

On the 14-point lead we've got at the top of the table.

To be fair I'm delighted we've built such a gap, but I'm also trying to ignore it. I don't want the players thinking we've this many games to go and only need this many points, I just want the players to focus game to game, like we've done since I arrived here. Next cab off the rank kind of situation, if we do that and we do it consistently, we'll be likely to taste success at the end of the campaign.

The Reds pay the penalty for indiscipline but avoid defeat

14th January 2068

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from Broomy Hill

Hinton 2-2 Redditch United

On the result.

It's a point gained and I'm just happy we've managed to avoid defeat. We were really poor today for large parts of the game and second best in my opinion. For both of their goals to come from penalties and to have a player sent off is really poor discipline. We've been very lucky to avoid defeat here today and we'll need to be better in our next game.

On Elvis Joseph picking up his second red card of the season.

Another moment of madness from Elvis and he's pretty disappointed in the changing rooms right now. He knows he's probably going to miss 4 or 5 games due to suspension now and he knows that's let the team down. In the end I know the lad, I know his character, he wouldn't go into a tackle to hurt someone, but he's got it wrong again and he needs to improve that part of his game going forward.

On Grantley Bittner scoring a brace off the bench.

Great to see Grantley back fit and confident again. He's had a few niggling injuries that have slowed him down, but we feel he's getting back to his best now. I made that change at half time and thankfully it's worked.

On the late equaliser.

An absolute bonus for us, because I do believe we deserved nothing from that game today. On the other hand, it shows the lads mentality to keep going even when the chips are down and everything has gone against us today. The late goal also means a point more ahead after Mayfield were beat, so that's definitely another bonus for us. A 15-point lead is a really nice situation to be in.

Early goal from Siebenhandl enough for The Reds to win at The Meadow

17th January 2068

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from The Meadow

Brimscombe & Thrupp 0-1 Redditch United

On the result.

Another positive step closer to the title and promotion, which I'm obviously going to be very happy about. We got the early goal and it was a really close game going back and forth from that point on. I would have enjoyed it if we'd managed to get another goal and make it a little more comfortable, but in the end we've won the game and leave with the 3 points.

On the early goal that proved to be the match winner.

It's always great to get an early goal and that's the start you want when you're playing away from home. The goal was really well worked, some great play between McKlane Bindley and Grantley Bittner before the latter has played in Christoph who took a touch to settle himself, before blasting it home with his left foot. It was a very well worked goal and the finish was excellent.

On the run of 3 away games in a row coming to an end.

It's been a challenging few games, on the road for 3 straight games and those 3 games being played over the space of 6 days, but we've got through it. We've done really well in my opinion, 7 points from a possible 9 is fantastic considering the games we've had to play in such a short space of time. When you add in the fact that Hinton and Brimscombe & Thrupp are in the playoff battle it makes it even more impressive. These are teams that are performing well and competing at the right end of the table. So, for me coming away to these places and getting positive results is a massive boost to our title aspirations and promotion chase.

Red hot Siebenhandl scores hat-trick as The Reds beat Wootton Blue Cross

21st January 2068

By the Press Team

Hellenic Football League Premier Division

Full Time from the Valley Stadium

Redditch United 3-2 Wootton Blue Cross

On the result.

Really tricky conditions at times today so I'm happy we've managed to get over the line with the victory. I think on the balance of the game we do deserve the win, but it was really close and credit to them for coming here today and really putting in a good performance. They could have easily downed tools when they were 2-0 down, but they did the opposite, so yeah, credit to them for fighting back.

On almost letting a 2-0 lead slip.

At 2-0 it looked like we were cruising, but after they got the first goal, they took real energy from that and lifted. Then they've got the penalty and the second goal, which you're just left with a million thoughts racing around in your mind. Do you make a lot of changes? Change the formation? Be cautious or be more attacking? In the end we've managed to steady the ship and got the next goal.

On the hat-trick from Christoph Siebenhandl.

What a tremendous individual performance from him out there today and it's a huge performance for us. I think you're now seeing the player Christoph always had the potential to be and it's the reason he was at Barnet Town since he was 15 years old. He didn't make the breakthrough there, but thankfully he's come to the club and he's settled in so quickly. He's really become a key player for us and a real fan favourite, I know the fans love him and the praise he gets is fully warranted. His performances have been fantastic this season.

On the injury prognosis for Grantley Bittner.

According to the medical team it's an ankle injury, not the worst, but not the best outcome either. He'll go for scans, but with the testing they've done they're thinking it's probably going to keep him out for about a month. Obviously, that might change once he's got the scans and he's in quite a bit of pain at the moment, but yeah, the medical staff reckon about a month.
