Custom skins can completely change how Football Manager 26 look… but when things go wrong, they really go wrong. If your UI is glitching, elements are missing, or you just want to go back to default, this guide will show you two solid ways to uninstall or reset skins properly:

1. Backup & Restore Original Files (The Safe Manual Way)

If you’re editing files manually or installing deeper mods, backing up your original files is a lifesaver.

Step 1) Locate the game files

Windows (Steam):

Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2026\fm_Data\StreamingAssets\aa\StandaloneWindows64\

Mac (Steam):

~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2026/fm.app/Contents/Resources/Data/StreamingAssets/aa/StandaloneOSX

Step 2) Backup the original files

Before installing anything:

  • Find the original files in these folders
  • Copy them somewhere safe
  • Leave them untouched

Step 3) Paste the original files back to original folder

Before installing anything:

  • Find the backup files in the backup folder and copy them
  • Paste them to the game files directory
  • Overwrite files

👉 Best for: Anyone modding manually or experimenting with files.

2. Reset Original Game Files (When Everything Breaks)

The key thing: this restores original files without affecting your saves.

Steam:
  • Open Steam
  • Go to Library
  • Right-click Football Manager 26Properties…
  • Open Installed Files
  • Click Verify integrity of game files
  • Wait for the process to complete
  • Launch the game

Epic Games Launcher:
  • Open Epic Games Launcher
  • Go to Library
  • Find Football Manager 26
  • Click the “…”
  • Select Verify
  • Wait, then launch

Microsoft Store:
  • Open Start → Settings
  • Go to Apps → Apps and Features
  • Find Football Manager 26
  • Click “…” → Advanced options
  • Under Reset, click Repair
  • Launch the game once done

⚠️ you will also need to reapply Real Name Fix.

👉 Best for: When you didn't make backup beforehand or your game is seriously broken.

Sorry to say but the tool you mentioned creates more problems than the ones it solves.

The skin creators also didn’t give the author written authorisation for the tool to host their skins.

Adding to this, this tool creates more headaches for skin creators because it allow for people to mix and match skins, without the proper knowledge of how to do it.

This will lead to people pointing out to skin creators bugs that the original skins do not have, and that only exist because of that mix and match.

Sortitousi should do a proper due diligence before writing these kind of posts.

I can only comment on the steam version to reset the files but I've found the first time you run it, you get an error suggesting not all files have been reset so you have to run it a 2nd time. That then works. Hope this helps.
