Rescuing a Bosnian giant.

Football club Željezničar was founded in 1921, holding a single title of the champion of Yugoslavia, six titles of the champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina, six titles of Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina winners, as well as three Super Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina winner titles, making it the football club with the most trophies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

NEW MANAGER: Mirza Demirović

Mirza Demirović is a 36 year old manager who played consistently for FK Olimpik Sarajevo, the third biggest club in Sarajevo that was relegated in season 2020/21 and now plays in Bosnia's lower leagues. After his decade long career, he retired in 2018, taking the job of Olimpik's Head of Youth Development. From there on, Demirović earned himself great reputation as one of Bosnia's best coaching prospects, eventually earning the UEFA Pro Licence. He had several stints in the lower leagues before eventually moving up to the first tier, staying at FK Sloga Doboj - preventing relegation of the club in his only season there. Now, his contract's been bought out by FK Željezničar Sarajevo, having made clear goals for the clubs future.

TACTICS

Demirović plays in a high-tempo, possession based football, often choosing young prospects for his squad, integrating them slowly into the first team. His preffered formation is the 4-2-3-1, deeming it most flexible for his football philosophy. He enjoys utilizing his wingers as the main source of goals, leaving his no. 10 as a free-roaming midfielder - often the most important & best player on the team. Wingbacks under Demirović's philosophy are meant to be real offensive outlets, by overlapping late and opening up lanes in the already congested penalty area. Defensively, his philosophy varies from match to match. He places an emphasis on experienced defenders coupled with more technically gifted younger defenders to give an edge in defense, as well as utilizing a double-pivot situation in the midfield.

VISION

1-2 years - become established dominant force in domestic competitions

3-5 years - consistently qualify for europe (UECL/UEL)

5+ years - consistently perform both at home and away in europe, eventually win a champions league

SQUAD OVERVIEW - SEASON 1

Starting the UECL qualification process.

KEY PLAYERS:

Sulejman Krpić, 34 years old - standing at 187cm will be the center piece of our offense. Looking at his attributes, he's very much the contending top striker in the league, however he is an unc at 34 years old, so a season from him, at best, is what we can hope for.

Madžid Šošić, 22 years old - overall our star player. He will occupy the AM spot, behind Krpić - acting as a Free Role attacking midfielder. Hoping to get best out of him this season.

Ermin Bičakčić, 35 years old - our best defensive player. Former Bosnian international signed on a free this season - still has a season left in him.

Aleksa Pejić, 25 years old - arrived from Israel on a free. Overall has great attributes. He will serve as one of our pivots.

One to watch, Šabić at 19 years old - he will serve as starting right winger this season if he performs well. Hoping for some good growth from him this season.

The youngster Šabić brings us closer towards the second qualifying round with his two header goals before getting off the pitch at half-time due to injury. He is reported to be off the field for 2-3 weeks with a groin injury, as we head to Armenia for the second leg.
