Hi everyone,
First off – massive respect to everyone in this community who builds these files. The work that goes into new nation mods especially is incredible, and I've spent a lot of time looking through what people have made here.
I'm looking for help creating a fantasy/alternate reality database for FM24, and I'd love it if someone with experience in advanced rules editing could take this on. I think it's a genuinely unique concept that hasn't been done before.
THE CONCEPT: SUNNMØRE AS AN INDEPENDENT FOOTBALLING NATION
Sunnmøre is a region on the west coast of Norway (part of Møre og Romsdal county) with its own distinct identity, culture and dialect. It has its own football association – Sunnmøre Fotballkrets – which currently governs 66+ clubs in the area.
The idea is to turn Sunnmøre into its own footballing nation in FM24, similar to how Gibraltar, the Faroe Islands or San Marino function. The clubs from Sunnmøre would be pulled out of the Norwegian football pyramid and placed into their own independent league system, competing for a Sunnmøre national title – and crucially, players born in Sunnmøre would represent the Sunnmøre national team, NOT Norway.
WHY THIS IS INTERESTING (not just a random request!)
Sunnmøre has produced a disproportionate amount of Norwegian football talent for its size. Clubs like Aalesund (AaFK) have competed in European football. The region has a strong footballing identity and fierce local rivalries. This would make for a brilliant underdog save – can you take Sunnmøre from a regional backwater to competing in UEFA qualifiers?
CLUBS TO INCLUDE (suggested top flight, ~10-12 teams)
These are the main clubs from the Sunnmøre Fotballkrets that exist in FM24:
• Aalesunds FK (AaFK) – the flagship club, currently Eliteserien level
• IL Hødd – based in Ulsteinvik, historically 1. divisjon level
• Brattvåg IL – active in Norwegian lower divisions
• Spjelkavik IL – based in Ålesund area
• Ørsta IL – from Ørsta municipality
• Volda TI – from Volda
• Herøy IL – from Herøy municipality
• Hareid IL – from Hareid
• Ellingsøy IL – Ålesund area
• Blindheim IL – Ålesund area
• SK Rollon – Ålesund area
• Giske IL – from Giske municipality
(The editor can adjust this list based on what's actually in the FM24 database – some smaller clubs may not be included)
LEAGUE STRUCTURE SUGGESTION
Sunnmøre Toppliga (top division) – 10-12 clubs
Sunnmøre 1. divisjon (second division) – 10-12 clubs
Sunnmøre Cup – knockout cup competition
Sunnmøre National Team – eligibility: born in Sunnmøre region / Møre og Romsdal
Continental competition: either excluded, or given a token UEFA qualification spot as a micro-nation (like San Marino or Andorra) – whatever is easier to implement.
NATIONAL TEAM ELIGIBILITY (VERY IMPORTANT)
This is the key part of the concept. Players born in the Sunnmøre region should be eligible for – and represent – the Sunnmøre national team instead of Norway. This is what makes the save special: watching a Sunnmøre-born generation develop and represent their home region on the international stage.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
• I'm not a skilled editor myself – I've tried working with the advanced rules section and found it overwhelming, so I'm putting this in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing
• I'm not asking for anything too polished – even a rough working version would be amazing
• Happy to provide any additional information about the region, clubs, or anything else that would help
• Credit will obviously go entirely to whoever makes this
If anyone has already built something similar (Catalonia, Yorkshire, Cornwall etc.) and wants to adapt their framework, that would also be fantastic.
Thank you so much in advance – this would mean a lot to me personally as someone from Sunnmøre!
