To get the default skin back in Football Manager 2026 (FM26), you need to revert the modified UI files in the game's installation directory. Because FM26 uses a new engine (Unity), skinning works by overwriting core game files rather than using a custom folder in your Documents.

Method 1: Verify Integrity of Game Files (Easiest Method)
If you are using Steam, this is the quickest way to restore the original, default files.

  1. Open Steam and go to your Library.
  2. Right-click on Football Manager 2026.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Click on Installed Files in the left menu.
  5. Click on Verify integrity of game files.
  6. Steam will detect the modified, custom skin files and replace them with the default versions.

Let me be harsh in the beginning:

If you don't back up the files and screw things up, then sorry to say, you deserve the trouble… and losing the settings is being kind to you.

Of course, lucky that there's always a safety net: https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/articles/29454156611985-How-to-verify-the-integrity-of-Football-Manager-s-files

If you still don't think that it deserves to back up, then you can assume that this will happen again. Anyway, may try FM Skins Manager to help the backup task a bit…

OK, back to the question:

First things first, before seeking help, have you ever thought of the situation here: Each skin would modify different number of files, and different files…

For example, you're using Skin A which modifies 10 files, and he installed Skin B that overwrites 8 files, and some of them are different from Skin A… Therefore, here you can't just say “please send the default skin files” or “I also need the default files”… The fact is that nobody has a clue to which files you're asking for. So, at least, please provide a list of files that were overwritten…

Or, if you don't want to bother and prefer having the whole “StandaloneWindows64” folder back, then you may consider opening a server or setting up a cloud storage first… so people can send you all these files.

The above folder is 3.7GB in size… You can't possibly expect anyone to free up his own storage (if he has one), and run it online for 2 weeks or so… just to wait for you  to download them to your computer, can you?

Remember, nobody is obligated to deal with these troubles, all because you're too lazy/forgetful to back up the files. Suppose you should do something, instead of just saying “please send the default skin files” or “I also need the default files”…

Therefore, before you need help, please help others first: Build a list of files that you need, and then also arrange a place for people to upload them to.

Believe me, “Verify integrity of game files” is a godsend, the quickest, easiest and effortless way to fix the issue… more importantly, no need to trouble anyone else.

It's a lesson to learn, but not costly at all. I actually think it's not hurting enough, and therefore many people here decide to skip the backup. They'd just hit the button to revert all the files, in case accident happens… forming such a bad habit of not doing backup.
