Ideally it'd be him or Klopp, but I'm really scared it could be Moyes.
K3V0
Why are you scared of Moyes taking over?
He's done unbelievably well at Everton and would demand respect at United.
I'd rather Kloop over them all. I can't see Mourinho staying long term tbh.
Ninja
He wouldn't demand respect that's the problem.
People will be calling for his head by November.
Anyway, I knew Ferguson hated midfielders but I'm amazed that he would rather retire than sign one this summer.

All this talk about Ronaldo returning. Can you see him even answering the phone if Moyes rang him? Quality players will certainly be put off by the drop from SAF to Moyes.
I don't think he's won a trophy at Everton has he?

He'll get respect from the players and the fans, I'm not worried about that. He's not a shit manager, he's proven that. A part of me doesn't want Mourinho because it's about him, not the club, we'll probably play negative football and he'll fuck off in 3-5 years. I'd take Kloop ahead of the both of them after what he's done at Dortmund or maybe even Heynckes, although he'd only be a short term fix.
SpinSwimScream
Yeah I could only see Ronaldo coming back if Ferguson played a big part in it, he will still be at the club as a Director/Ambassador so it could happen still but i think its a lot less likely now

At the very least you'll get 3 years then the next man in doesn't have to replace Fergie but 'only' Mourinho.
bluemoon.
Hahaha.
That's the best comment I've seen so far
Heynckes would be a brilliant appointment for you.
K3V0
He has little experience in Europe and with world class players due to Everton being broke.
As for trophies that's again hardly his fault. I think Swansea and Portsmouth are the only other teams to win in the last decade outside of United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, the latter going broke because of that spending.
I think he'll play attacking football and have a go, certainly more than what Mourinho will do.
K3V0
It's tricky. Do we go with a few year fix or appoint long term and hope that works?
It's going to be interesting to see what happens. I agree with the last bit you said, replacing Mourinho and not Ferguson, could be an important bit the board take into account.
If we're going for a short term fix I'd rather him over Mourinho, look what he's done at Munich and by all accounts the players absolutely fucking love him.
tmatthew
What does it matter why he has no experience?
What evidence do you have to suggest he'll play attacking football?

I believe Spurs won the league cup at one point.
K3V0
Yeah forgot about that, was just recalling off the top of my head.

Mourinho
Moyes
Klopp
Solskjaer
Queiroz (!)
Blanc
Giggs
So not many options.

Roberto Mancini has European experience and has handled world class players but couldn't get out his group two years running. What about Di Matteo last season? No real European experience in management and had been sacked by West Brom, won the Champions League. Experience is helpful, but it's not the only thing that matters. Everton played a huge part in us failing to win the league last season and beat us on the opening day this season.
As for what evidence do I have he'll play attacking football?
Well outside the top 5 and Liverpool they've scored the most goals, sounds kind of attacking to me.
It seems you've made your mind up that he'd fail at United which isn't fair at all.
He's not my first choice, I'd prefer Kloop if we're looking at a long term successor.
Ninja
Birmingham too.
tmatthew
The fact that Everton beat us is a stupid point. Shall we approach Chris Hughton too? Rafa maybe?
This is the Manchester United job. Not a Man City team new to Europe, or a Chelsea team with little to no expectations in Europe that season.
K3V0
Middlesbrough won the league cup as well iirc, not sure if it's inside the last decade though.
It's stupid to suggest Moyes would fail at United just because he hasn't won anything at Everton. Theres no doubt it'd be a step up and he'd be under a lot of pressure but so would Mourinho, Kloop or any other manager replacing arguably the greatest manager in the history of football.

Well, no it's not. That's actually quite logical. But I haven't said that, I just said I don't want him.
