It sounds like he's signing today. Press conference called for 3pm.

One of our local journos (who doesn't tend to say much unless he's confident) says he's been told it's £200,000 plus add ons.

We have signed Chris Brown from Doncaster on a free! Doesn't seem much like a goalscorer but is a decent target man and should be good to back up Rhodes and Gestede as we have let Goodwille go and Best and Campbell hopefully soon to join him!

Vercoe - we've had a second bid rejected for Hourihane. What's he like? Your local rag 'understands' we won't be going back in with another offer, but I think we will.

Also, we've signed Adam Davies and Kane Hemmings. Brian Howard and Gary Harkins rumoured to be signing too. Quite excited about Hemmings. Won the Championship Player of the Year, albeit in Scotland, but looks like he has pace and an eye for goal. Exactly what we need.

Harkins really isn't that great. Alright he's had a few good seasons in Scotland but there's a reason we released him, and look where we are now.

We've made a few good signings so far. After another striker or two and another centrehalf would be nice. Looks like we'll be strong again next season.

We signed Kelvin Etuhu after he was released by Barnsley. Great signing for us if we can keep him fit and motivated and he stays out of legal trouble. I think he played CM for Barnsley under Flitcroft, so this is where he will fit in

With players like Lowe, Mayor, Adams, Jalal and Etuhu being signed up I think there is no denying we're going for promotion this season. Or administration. We will see.

For next season our fans' trust has paid for the Royal British Legion's poppy to be on our shirts. Very proud.

Jordan Rhodes signed a two year contract extension so it's up till 2019 which is amazing news also Alex Baptiste has joined from Bolton on a season long loan not really that impressed as he was poor for Bolton last year and he has just been charged for assault but I am always willing to give new players a chance! First friendly tomorrow AFC Telford away!

I don't understand why Premier League clubs don't make moves to sign Jordan Rhodes. Norwich got relegated because of their failure to sign a decent striker last season, and there's a lad in the Championship who will get 15 goals a season in the Prem, which might be the difference. Worth £15m? Absolutely, when you consider Van Wolfswinkel and Hooper cost £14m between them for a total of 6 goals.

Does Rhodes offer anything other than goals? I've obviously seen nowhere near as much as you guys, but he always looks like the guy Norwich or Fulham would pay £12m for and then completely flop.

If Jordan Rhodes stays in the Championship for his entire career, scoring 20 goals a season in the league for the next 10 years, plus another 3 or 4 in the cups, he'll score around 380 career goals at club level. If he keeps up his current rate, averaging 30 a season, it'll be nearer 450. Just to give you a rough idea, the most prolific Football League goalscorer on a consistent basis over the last 40 years is probably Steve Bull - he managed 'just' 311 and was good enough to go to Italia '90.

Argue that goals alone don't make a player. But we're talking about a phenomenal goalscorer. He's the sort of player where it doesn't matter what level he plays at. When he gets a chance he will take it. Space and time are hard to come by at the top, but he'll score goals in the Premier League because those are exactly the things he'll create with his movement. How many teams do well in the build-up but lack the cutting edge where it matters?

I know, but you're having a go at Gary Hooper, but he has averaged more than 1 in 2 in each of 7 seasons. And has an absolutely phenomenal goal record at L1, Championship and SPL levels, and still just didn't seem to offer enough. RVW also posted decent enough goals in the Eredivisie and Portuguese Leagues.

Like I said before, I don't really know if he's good enough, but I suspect a lot of clubs are skeptical about pure goalscorers ability to step up a level.

Yeah as you say he offers nothing outside the box. He works fairly hard but doesn't really hold the ball up or anything and he has no pace. But his goal scoring is worth £15 million alone, he hardly misses a chance! Just so clinical if McCormack was worth £11 million he has to be worth a few million more. I am delighted he is staying and from his comments he seems to really enjoy it at the club! I am surprised that a premier league club hasen't even made a bid for him to be honest, but as far as we are concerned that's great news! If you want anyone to have a one on one or a chance in the box or a penalty you would pick Rhodes and for a team near the bottom of the prem he would be ideal. He basically kept us up on his own 2 seasons ago when we looked like dropping into league 1. We have other very good players now but Rhodes still stands out!

I prefer to remember his hat-tricks against Exeter x2, Brentford, Leyton Orient, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers...

Watched his four-goal haul against Wednesday again last night. Three were all about being in the right place at the right time with good movement leading to one-touch finishes. For the fourth, he isn't the quickest but he's strong enough to hold off Reda Johnson when he gets between the defenders and place it - when 4-3 down in the 97th minute, knowing it's the last kick of the game - on the outside of his right foot into the bottom corner before the keeper even has a chance to set himself. Just a shame about our shambolic defending.

ha ha yeah.

I remember watching it at the time, but I just watched it again some really good goals his last 2 great finishes! He has scored a couple of headers for us as well although he doesn't win many flick ons he does score quite a few headers in front of goal! Some great goals in there though. The sheff wed commentators were happy but I agree your defending was awful. Ben Marshall also now plays for us too the lad who scored and assisted in that match he was really good for us last season until his injury.

Not really, and I suspect that's why a Premiership club hasn't took a chance on him yet. Long may it continue!

Please don't post that again Easily the best performance from a striker at Hillsborough in years, he's an incredible finisher

Also from that I miss Ben Marshall, he was awesome for us and I forgot Sanchez Watt played for us, he was terriable

Chopra is banned from the bookies I'm managing at the minute.

Keeps coming in with a fat bloke and kicking off.

This fat bloke could be Jon Parkin.

I'm probably not the only one to notice this but whoever at Blackpool let 27 players go in the summer, leaving with them with 8 first teamers (including 1 midfielder and 0 goalkeeper) is a fucking idiot. No wonder the fans want money-hider Oyston to piss off.

Yeah I know mental rumors the manager Riga might quit as well already just a month into the job. They need players I hope they decide to buy some after we play them on the 2nd day of the season though!

To be fair, they did offer Matthew Gilks a new contract. Which he quite sensibly rejected to go and play for Burnley. So they almost had a goalkeeper.

I really don't think it matters about the second game of the season, lads. They've cancelled a pre-season tour and only have two pre-season games fixed up (just to run a comparison, Town have played two already and have another 6 lined up, not counting behind closed doors fixtures). With 23 days to the start of the season, they have 8 players. Any players who come in now won't have had a pre-season. They'll be 3 weeks behind at least when it comes to their fitness, and even further behind when it comes to playing with their new team-mates.

I assume Blackburn have a fairly settled squad this season. It'll be much easier for the manager to get hold of the players and mould them because they've got that experience of playing together. Blackpool won't. They might sign a handful of great players between now and then, but they're not going to have played together and won't have had the time on the training ground to be able to play together as an effective team. They might be 10 games behind their rivals. They might put a performance on against you; more likely they'll still be a mess.

After the way they ended last season, given the instability at the club, and considering the quality of players already there, I reckon they're as close to down as you can get with three weeks to go of the season. They need to sign players, and soon.

Yeah we do BR! I am ordering tickets tomorrow! I messed up my words a bit glad you still understood

Terriersmad I agree we do have a very settled squad many of the players which went 14 games unbeaten on the back end of last season! If anything it's a big stronger but we still need some cover in defence! Blackpool have to get a keeper in soon would be interesting too see them play a youth team keeper but I am not even sure they have one so it may come down to the goalkeeping coach or even a player! But as you say without a pre season they would be very unfit and as they are now surely desperate for players, they would rush to get players in and buy poor quality.

Also how's John Stead doing for you now days? Remember when he was our top scorer around 2005 when we were in the premier league! He's alot taller now though. Don't remember him starting many games and I know alot of Huddersfield fans don't rate him but I was wondering what you though!

I suspect Steady will be moving on. I think he's stayed in the UK to train with the development squad while the first team spends a week in Portugal with the aim of fitting himself up with a new club. He just can't cut it in the Championship any more. It's a bit sad, really - for years we wanted him back and we weren't able to give him what he wanted, which was second tier football, and when we can give him just that he's no longer able to compete at this level. He ended last season on loan at Bradford, who seemed to rate him quite highly, and a move to League One is probably the best he can hope for now - that or retirement, given he wants to stay up north and stop moving his family around as he has two daughters these days.

Still, he scored a cracking winner against Leeds in October, and he's a Town fan which, along with his first spell at the club as a kid, will mean he's always fondly thought of. Always gives the impression of being a modest bloke as well, and a proper family man interested in community causes, which gets him plenty of respect. Just a shame that at 31 he's not able to play in the higher divisions any more.
