Turkish Delight

Founded in 1990, istanbul Büyükşehir Belediye Spor Kulübü (BBSK) are a professional Turkish football club currently playing their football in the PTT 1. League. BBSK suffered relegation from the Spor Toto Super League (the top tier of Turkish football) last season and will now need to adjust to life in the second tier, the PTT 1. League. The club play their home games at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, an 80,597 all-seater stadium located on the outskirts of Istanbul. The famous 2005 UEFA Champions League Final between A.C. Milan and Liverpool F.C. was played here on 25 May 2005. In terms of facilities the club has a respectable youth setup which is believed to be of an average standard, and likewise too the training facilities. Although istanbul BBSK have never managed a major turkish honour, they did finish 2nd in the Ziraat Turkish Cup in 2011, the 5th most prestigious trophy in domestic football. Many see the recent 6th placed finish in the Spor Toto Super League as a historic success in its own right due to the unlikliness of this happening.
