C'mon Germany, bring Klose on and pound Portugal into the ground.

Hope Germany don't take their foot off in the second half.

Pleased to see Ozil playing well too.

Anyone else enjoy the slow motion reply when Pepe headbutted Müller? Müllers initial reaction was to sit back and roll around a bit but then decides to fight him.

Haha that was the best thing about it.

Portugal will probably struggle against Ghana and the USA on this showing.

Portugal should have had a pen before like. Glad it wasn't given though, just for Ronaldo's reaction.

Anyone staying up for Ghana vs. USA? It couldn't be worse than that crap between Iran and Nigeria like.

Ghana would probably be ahead by now if they had a proper big man up front. Lots of nice crosses but no-one there to turn them into quality chances.

Some really poor first touches there to end the first half. Unlucky for Ghana.

Should have had Anthony Annan up front.

(yes, that is the 2.02m Zigic)

Drew Germany in my works Sweepstake, very happy so far.

Muller's only played 8 World Cup games and he has 8 goals, half the amount he needs to surpass Ronaldo. He's 24 and has another two World Cups in his locker (maybe three if he plays when he's 36). A bit of luck and Germany's good run of World Cups and we could be looking at the all-time World Cup top scorer.

It will be very interesting what Ronaldo can do against the two weaker teams, surely his legacy is suffering by poor performances by Portugal in World Cups?

I think that the USA will beat Portugal, yes I am biased, but the USA got the monkey off their backs against Ghana, now they can settle and play. And losing Altidore hurt the US against Ghana because we needed a holdup striker in that game, but against Portugal, I don't think we do. I think the US should take some lessons from Germany on playing quick players up top and unlocking what is a woeful defense (especially with Coentrao gone and Pepe out) with passing. Bradley played well under what he always has before against Ghana, but I think this is a game that he'll rebound in strongly.

As for Ronaldo, I doubt he is truly healthy, but he is too competitive to admit that he's possibly seriously hurt. And he's seen Messi start to shake off that not performing at the World Cup label and he's worried he'll lose there again too. But the thing is, outside of Ronaldo, Portugal really doesn't have a great amount of talent. Nani doesn't tend to perform well, Veloso is probably their best midfielder in my mind (outside Ronaldo) and it just seems to me that they're bare.

As for the Germany-Ghana game today, I think Germany will prevail. Their abilities outstrip Ghana who are having to deal with the gut-check of how they lost to the US after several of their players had made the mistake of guaranteeing victory in the media.

Germany should beat Ghana, although I think it'll be a tight game like in 2010.

As for Portugal and the USA that really depends on if the latter turns up.
